Giving Strollers to Porter

We leave for our first Disney Cruise on Saturday and I'm trying to figure out all the last minute details. This will be our first cruse with DS (DH and I have cruised several time with other lines). After going back and forth about it we have decided to bring his beloved umbrella stroller to use in the airports and as kind of a security blanket in case he has a hard time adjusting. I really don't want to be lugging the stroller around with us the first day while we are waiting for our staterooms to be ready. Would there be any issues with putting a luggage tag on it and giving it to the porters with the rest of our bags? We have a decent airline gate check bag we would have it in.

The porters are moving thousands and thousands of bags. It's not like at a hotel where they bring you bags to your room on a small cart. They use a forklift to move the bags. His beloved umbrella stroller could get crushed.

Any longshoremen or such here that can explain why that forklift has a pallet taped to the top of it? I'm gonna guess some kind of sun screen?

Thanks everyone. I've never really given the whole process much thought since we have always just had one or two hard suitcases. guess we will keep it with us until the rooms open up.

Since it's being used as a security blanket to help him adjust, wouldn't that first couple hours onboard be the most obvious time you'd be using it with him?

You know some things just don't click until you see them in writing. Then it's like duh what was I thinking. :P I'm going to blame all the pre-trip craziness/mom fail. :scared: We went to Disneyland in Sept and he spent the first hour or so in the stroller then was great the rest of the week. I'm not sure why I'm trying to re-invent the wheel here just cause we are on a ship instead of on land.

Glad you figured it out. Umbrella strollers are easy to move about. Though more people will be in the hallways the first day than just about any other time during the cruise. Take it with you. If things get to be too much lugging it around, just hang out somewhere for a while before depositing it in your room after 130.
