Giving my DD's "a shopping" challenge on our Eastern.....coach purse???

O.K., yes, this is supposed to be "my vacation" also but......DD's 13 and 11 can't wait to shop!!!!!!!!! They don't need anything, but they do like to "shop". I guess everyone needs a hobby. So here is my idea.......Yes, we do have some Christmas shopping to catch up on so why not kill two birds with one stone. Let them shop for gifts.......They get to spend money. And rather than the stuff they buy sit in their drawers 'till they either give it away to a needy neighbor or friend, they can give them as Christmas gifts. Sooooo I'm thinking of making this like a scavenger hunt. I have two gals that work for me and run my office to perfection while I am away, and I know they want "coach purses". So that could be something for DD's to search for....thus hopefully keeping their minds focused on that and not just "junk" the locals push on you.

Question 1) Anyone know if things like (coach purses gucci bags etc.) that are available in any shops in St. Thomas or St. Maarteen and 2) any other "ideas" on what I can add to my scavanger list???

I don't remember seeing a Coach outlet in either port, but I could have missed it. I'll try to do a web search and see if one is listed. Maybe somebody else knows.

If all else fails...there is a Coach outlet in Orlando at the Premium Outlets.

Your idea is a good one, what about colognes? ... Stuff to fill the purse up with, mirrors with bahamian decor, calendars, pens, Disney dollars! Cigarette lighters and cig holders if they smoke, rings,



Just a few thoughts....nice idea thou!

Little Switzerland does carry Coach and other designer purses. They have two locations on St. Thomas, Havensight and Downtown Charlotte Amalie on Main Street. I'm not sure how much of a "deal" they are, you probably won't save much more than the sales tax, since they aren't imported items to the US (thus no duty), they are US made.

Note to ChattyKathy: A Coach purse is a type of manufacturer of purses and bags, just like Gucci. They have stores all over, in the malls, and are usually available at most department stores.

ChattyKathy..........Cologne.............I like that idea. See that is the perfect thing for 13 and 11 year old girls to do. Pick out some for Grandma and Grandpa!!!! See that's my angle let them shop for x-mas gifts for others.

The best port of call to buy a Coach bag is Old San Juan. Unless the Magic has to change ports for some reason you won't be going there. The store only sells Coach and the prices are a lot cheaper than here in the states. Another plus is anything purchased in Puerto Rico does not count toward your duty limit! I learned this on our Celebrity cruise back in Jan. '00. I regret not buying one when I had the chance to pick another one up at such a great price. Kathy

If you are going to WDW before or after, try the outlets. There is a Coach outlet at the nice outlet mall near Universal (Prime Outlets I think it is called...but not sure) Prices were good last time I was there.

This doesn't help in keeping your girls focused on the cruise, but I wanted to add that COACH can also be found at dept. discounters like TJ Maxx and Marshalls.

You are very nice to take care of your office staff. We need to do better about bringing "prizes" back for our girls in the office.

Someone mentioned great prices on the purses in San Juan. Do they also have a Gucci store? What other "big" names in shopping does San Juan offer? We are scheduled to go on the Sept 4 sailing.
