I'm planning on getting the Deluxe DDP for our trip, but may not want to eat all our meals one day. Since I have relatives staying on another reservation I made in the same resort, is there any reason I can't give them my room key (with the credits on it) so that they can go have a meal 'on us'?

Yes, I know the 'policy' so I don't need any scolding... but how could they verify if the holder of the key is YOU or not (if you pay the tip etc. by cash)?

I think you already know the answer.... Some questions are better left unasked....:rolleyes1

I am not worried about what Disney says, if they have any extra credits left over and they are able to do it, go for it.

No, I'm NOT a Moderator - but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Just FTR - Dining Plan credits are not restricted to a specific day. With the Deluxe plan, the Guest gets three credits per room-night per person. That Guest can use, for example, five credits one day - i.e. a 'regular' restaurant plus two signature meals/shows, and two credits the next day, and two credits the following day. The Guest doesn't have to spend three credits - no more, no less - per day. They just need to be all used by the participating Guest by midnight of checkout day.

I have never done the dining plan before, so other than what I've read here, I was only making an assumption of how it works. For all I know they scan your fingerprint at the door and compare it to what's on your room key! ;)

I do not see why it should be a big deal, but maybe I need a morality check. I MADE and paid for both reservations (my relatives too). I will be buying them the DDP and my husband and I will be buying ourselves the Deluxe Plan. With the Deluxe Plan I get more credits, but my relatives are on the Dining Plan too, just not the Deluxe.

I feel like if I am buying all those rooms and dining plans then credits are credits.

Thanks for all your responses, I appreciate it.

At a few of the CS places the asked my husband for his ID when we were on the DDP last summer.

Well, you could see about loaning one of them the tip of your finger on occasion (it's amazing what science can do 'nowadays') :teeth:
And don't worry about morality - that's not the issue, it's that the Dining Plan literature (and so, policies) prohibit sharing your credits with anyone not on the plan. Disney's plan, Disney's rules.

Sounds like the OP is sharing credits with people ON the plan - just on a different plan. Then what?:confused3

Disney's policy on this is quite clear. As PP have indicated, meal plan is non-transferable
