A co-worker shared this tip with me.
Before they moved to Fl. They lived in the Midwest would fly instead of drive with 4 small children. They would reserve a limo with one stop on the way to the World. They would stop at Walmart and buy a large cooler for about 30 to 45 dollars, buy their supplies for a 10 or 12 day stay. ( Value resorts). and when they got ready to leave they would find another family and give them the cooler. A frig at a Value is 10.00 a day x 10 days is 100.00 a saving of 60 dollars. But they would have to have 2 rooms and 2 frigs to fit all of the stuff. So really they saved 160.00 dollars.
The first time they gave it away the man said how can I repay you her DH said just give it to someone else who you think will need it.

I just thought I would share this.

What a great idea and a generous thing to do! I would also have offered a couple of dollars to the person for giving it to me so they would of saved even more. I know people who buy those cheap foam coolers when they leave they either leave it in the room for housekeeping or give it away.

Before I got a spot on a swap this is EXACTLY what I was planning on doing. I just couldn't afford the fridge rental fee. Those little fridges have been paid for 1000's of times over. $10-12 a night for rental is ridiculous. I actually saw a small fridge at Walmart for $60 the other day (I guess for back-to-school). At that amount I could buy one in Orlando and start a new swap. I STILL wouldn't lose money!

Thanks for sharing the tip! :)

I really think this is a great way to save money but also to help someone else out. We drive to the World, and we always bring our cooler with us. It has saved us alot of money over the years. I also bring a small collapsible cooler to go to the pool to bring Adult beverages, and sodas when the kids where little juice boxes. Saved alot of money that way to.

I think that is a GREAT idea and kind as well. Shortly after we arrived some teenage girls gave our young DDs their blue/red bottle fans...that 'mist'. The girls were THRILLED! Saved us some money as well.

I got a cube fridge at big lots for $50 - paid for itself considering the $10 a night fee at the POP. I am using it in my office now and will pack it along. :)
