Ok, I am trying to get a few different opinions. We are planning our return trip for next year. We are not sure what to do. We have a DD that will be 4 next year.
We want to go longer next year, which means a ASMO again. But we had a coupld ADRS at mod and deluxe resorts. Which we want to stay at...if we go this route that means same amount of time or shorter stay.
I thought about split stay not sure we would be able to do that...I also thought about sucking it up and doing DVC...but we are trying to buy a house and do not want that affecting us.
So, what would some of you do? Value= Longer Stay. Deluxe/Mod= Shorter stay?

Value = Longer stay. No doubt in my mind. But that´s just my preference. We usually always go on at least one 3-4 week vacation per year. Couldn´t do that if we always stayed at deluxe resorts. For me, it´s about getting away, spending quality time together as a family, new experiences, etc. Our vacations are always great as we never focus on the resorts/hotels/motels, as long as they are clean and safe.

IF THIS MEANS ANYTHING TO YOU. DVC HAS NEVER SHOWN UP ON MY CREDIT REPORT. I HAD TWO LOANS WITH THEM AND THEY DIDNT REPORT ON EITHER. I NEVER MISSED A PAYMENT BUT IM SURE IF I WOULD HAVE IT WOULD BE THERE. TAKE THE TOUR THE NEXT TIME YOUR THERE. THE IS NO, YOU CAN ASK ANY DVC MEMBER, NO PRESSURE AT ALL AND IT DONT TAKE LONG.

That is our main goal..I work in retail management...so from October untul Feb I barely see or spend time with my family...So this year we said we need to do it every year and longer just to reconnect...and relax..

I vote for longer stay at a value resort. I would rather spend more time at the parks than have a nicer place to stay, given those options.

Our philosophy has always been cheaper resort & longer stay. While we do spend some time a the resort, you spend more time at the parks. While we have stayed at Deluxes before, we usually chose to stay longer at a moderate.

We just joined DVC and I seem to remember reading somewhere that DVC does not show up on your credit report. Then again maybe it was just something I read on these boards. :confused3 I would call and ask.

If you are interested in renting points, check out the DVC renters board. Basically you pay the DVC own for points (generally in the $9-$12 range per point) and they make a reservation for you (in your name) using their points. It is a way to save some money and get a nicer room.

If not though definitely go for the longer stay.

Look at this way. Is the room just a place to lay your head at night? If so, then value would be the ticket. If your family is like ours, the room is as important to our vacation, as the vaction itself. With that said, then rent points from a DVC owner and have a wonderful experience at a DVC resort.

I vote for longer stay at value resort or renting DVC points, if it's in the budget and possible. Particularly if you are flying. With the increase in airfare, I'm taking fewer trips and making them longer!

The longer visit also is a bit more relaxing. You don't feel you have to be doing something every minute--unless that's what you want to do! :thumbsup2

Yea I thinking longer trip, we drive up from south florida. This last trip we got up there Friday late am early afternoon and left tuesday early evening and it just felt so rushed and that we did not have enough time to "enjoy" the time up there...Don't get me wrong it was great and we had fun, but just felt rushed.

Longer stay at the value is my choice too. You can always do those ADR's at the other resorts, plus you can also do more because you'll be there longer. That said, I'm not a value girl. I need my hot tub. :D

You should sign up for Starwoods SPG program NOW
There is no cost and they will send you offers throughout the year.
If you open an "amex" they will give you 10,000 points (good for a free night)

AS A FLORIDA RESIDENT you get the best rates at the Swan and Dolphin.
They don't publish these (better than gov't, teacher, nurse, etc.)
You must call the hotel directly. It is a deluxe, at the price of a mod.

We have stayed at almost every hotel on property. I feel guilty for not doing "disney" but the price difference is huge, and the location is so great

Remember too, that you can buy a seasonal pass and DDE to save money.
Even if you only go once a year, the pass can work for 2 Yearly visits if you time it right (e.g. 3rd week oct 2007, 2nd week oct 2008)

I remember the first time we went, while living here in Florida
Stayed at a mod.
Paid RACK rate and length of stay tickets (more than seasonal passes)
During a conversation regarding Disney, a client mentioned the great Florida discount rates................................

I soon learned that you must ask, and ask, and ask.
And since that time, I have saved ,and saved, and saved:dance3:
