I was reading a thread on the DIS about Cape May with pictures. It sounds wonderful! DH and I love seafood. Now to decide which ADR (dinner) to change if Cape May is still available. Would you change Ohana or Boma to Cape May and why?

The only TS I have eaten at are Crystal Palace, Sci Fi & Hollywood & Vine and they were all several years ago. Thanks for any advice!

Have you eaten at Ohana or Boma? I would choose to drop the one you have eaten at the most. If you haven't eaten at either, I would drop Boma if you are using bus transportation and drop Ohana if you have a car. I find getting to Cape May fairly simple- take bus to the Studios then take the boat over. Good luck deciding!!

Ok duh!!! I just re-read your post so haven't eaten at either. Do you like African inspired food/curry?? If so you have a tough decision!!:lmao:

We are staying at POFQ Sept 3-8 (DH's surprise for my birthday) and will be using Disney transportation. Both ADRs for Boma & Ohana are non-park days so pretty flexible on those days. We have never tried african inspired food. We loved the food on DCL though. :goodvibes

I would definitely drop Boma. I know most people love it, but we sooo did not (and we eat all kinds of ethnic foods). Found the food sweet and I'm not of fan of savoury food being sweet...leave the sweet stuff in desserts!

Havent tried Ohana but just by the pics and reviews Ive seen it looks awesome. Plus since its a non park day you can tour the resort (get a dole whip) and even visit GF or the Contemporary if that interests you.

We loved Cape May and the grounds are Beautiful at the Beach club...enjoy!

We've done both Ohana and Boma and think both are excellent.

Our meal at Ohana was perfect. From the food to the service to the entertainment, I wouldn't suggest improving a single thing. That having been said, we were concerned going into the dinner because it gets very mixed reviews. We either hit it on a flawless night, or other people have different expectations, but for us it was excellent.

Boma had wonderful ambiance, overall the food was very good (a couple dishes were not at the right temp, which concerns me) and the service was competent, if a bit cool. The desserts were fantastic, unquestionably the best desserts I had on this past trip.

We have never done Cape May, so I can offer no direct insight. I will say, however, that as a fellow seafood lover, I cannot think of many foods less suited to a buffet and extended holding times than seafood (especially shellfish).

If you've never had African-inspired food and you know you like seafood, I would drop Boma and do Cape May (we didn't care for Boma bu LOVE Cape May). You can always pick up Boma on another trip.

oh the seafood gets replaced frequently as it goes really fast. The crab legs were HUGE, they also have mussels and clams, peel and eat shrimp. In addition they have some cold seafood salads that were wonderful.

I like Ohana but it is always hit or miss. If you get it on a good day you will love it. Also depending on the time of your ADR you can watch the electrical water pagent if Disney is still doing it. Ask for a table by the water. On the other hand I have never had a bad meal at Boma. There are many more choices of what to eat there. You are bound to find something you like and the atmosphere is something else.

I would do cape may and boma. Ohana's is fun, but the food is not as good as the other two. Cape May is outstanding, quality of food is high and atmosphere is great. I love the poly, but have been disapointed in ohana before. Boma dinner is also very nice they have great meat and side dishes!

I would drop Ohana and do Boma and CMC. Boma was a wonderful dinner that really should be tried at least once. Usually people love it, but it if you do not like exotic food it may not be for you. CMC is wonderful and the seafood is so fresh and plentiful!

I would drop BOMA dinner. My family like BOMA breakfast better than the dinner (we did not like dinner much)

I'm actually considering dropping California Grill for Cape May (blasphemous, I know). The pictures on here of the crab legs look great!

Wow you guys are great. So much good advice. I now know I definitely want to do CMC. I am going to drop Boma I think unless CMC isn't available for that night. Are there any good CS places at AKL. I thought we might go there for lunch just to see the resort :goodvibes

I am drooling at the thought of those crab legs!

AKL has Mara, a CS. It is good and if you are on DDP you can get the zebra domes as a desert or a snack. (Those are at Boma on the buffet as well.) They also have a fried shrimp dinner that I like. I thought you may also like since you are a seafood fan. This would be a good option if you are wanting to check out the resort.

Having done both Boma & Ohana, I wouldn't drop either and here's why -

I doubt you can get African food at home. In most cities, crab legs and the like are readily available.

and....

Ohana is a great experience. The atmostphere and the food is great and it's just a fun place. Plus the bread pudding dessert there is one of the best desserts in wdw IMO.

Cape May sounds great (we're going in Oct.), but can't you get seafood at home? I wouldn't drop a unique experience for a seafood buffet.

I can't get oreo bon-bons at home. :worship:

And I haven't been since they started the lava cakes (I don't have those around home either). So that will probably be two reasons for me to go at least once a trip.

I would drop Ohana and do Boma and CMC.

Boma is delicious and if you like trying new foods this is the place. Didn't find anything to be overly spicy but everything was full of flavor!

CMC is delicious. The seafood never sits out for too long which is a plus. I went for the first time last Nov and it will now be a regular on my Thanksgiving trip.

Ohana personally I did not like. I found the meat to be a little dry and the veggies to be a little mushy.

Happy Dinning!
