So my boys have been to Disney a few times now and have seen a lot of what there is to see and do. I'm looking for some hidden gems or off the beat things that maybe we have missed that would interest 2 boys (ages 6 and 10). We always try to do something new each trip and eat at different restaurants, but I can guarentee there are things in the parks we are missing.
I did buy them a hidden mickey book for this trip, because in the past they have shown interest in looking for them.
I've heard snipits about a card game in MK? What is this and where can I learn more?
Any specific entertainment in the World Showcase that is extra awesome? They have done Agent P's before and we always do the Kidcot stations.

Thanks!!

Tom Sawyer Island in MK is a great little gem. Especially if you want to be off your feet. There are trails to explore and a fort to protect. Boys love this place. It is off the beaten path and mostly overlooked. It is a nice escape from a busy park.

Here is my 2 cents:

* The card game is Sorceror's of the Magic Kingdom where kids visit various portals over the MK and use their spell cards to defeat villians. Very fun, possibly addictive, so plan accordingly. Have hoppers for this (so kids can go daily, especially to collect new cards)! Think you can get 1 free pack of cards per day, per active ticket, or buy booster packs.

* Visiting a Water Park or DQ could be fun if you haven't been before.

* I believe there is a scavenger hunt book out for various hunts in WDW also. (http://www.amazon.com/PassPorters-T...=1-3&keywords=walt+disney+world+scavenger+hun)

* We love to snack around World Showcase and sometimes "collect" candy/chocolate for those long days between Disney at home. The WS street entertainment is excellent, and it is fun to spot all the trolls in Norway. Also, great is to try on hats in each country - makes for a great photo spread when you get home!

* Pin trading is a lot of fun, and everyone pitches in to help everyone else find our special collections.

* Get the Photopass for rides, and collect crazy pics of your family screaming their heads off or being goofy!

Where do you pick up the cards for Socerer's of Magic Kingdom? I'll have to do some research on that and see what I come up with.

Hidden trolls in Norway, that sounds up their alley! Is this like the hidden mickey's?

We have visited Tom Sawyer's island before, but perhaps I should allow additional time this trip for them to really explore the island.

Just look up to spot random trolls in the architecture.

I am not sure if this has changes, but we picked up cards near the Tiana meet and greet - they needed to scan our tickets I believe. I am sure MK CMs would know where to pick up the cards...or hopefully some knowledgeable person hops on here!

I've read some posts about a pirate adventure experience. I'm not exactly sure what it's officially called but it sounded interesting and a lot of people/kids seem to like it.

This was our new thing last visit...The one we did was over at POR and you are right they did love it!!

I always liked Disney Quest when I was a teenager although that was a decade ago and virtual reality stuff was a lot newer. I'm sure that boys would love it. Not a great place to go if you get motion sickness though :-/

You get the cards at the fire station in Town Square. You need your ticket or I guess Magic Band now. DS17 spent an entire day at the MK playing. He had a blast and didn't have to ride the kiddie rides with his sister.

Are there still hidden paint brushes on Tom Sawyer Island, or was that just for A Year of a Million Dreams?

No, there aren't. They weren't just for A Year of a Million Dreams but they don't do them any longer.

My kids (7 and 9) loved the Socerer's of the Magic Kingdom game, you pick them up right on Main Street. Thing is, if you are short on time in the parks or like to have a plan before heading into the parks, it takes time and has you going around each land finding portals. If we go back I'll have to plan to spend some time in MK doing that for them.
