Thanks for all of the warm departure wishes & welcome homes! I'm uploading my 600 or so pictures right now and will get started on a TR soon. I have to come up with a title first...
I just wanted to pop in and let you all know this PTR is still alive! Trip number two (or I guess it's now trip number 3 since I have the Spectrum Mom's trip in January), is about 4 1/2 months away and there is still plenty of planning to be done. I'll be back soon to recap the plans that have been made and start talking about park goals & touring plans.
I also have some not so good news to share about Tim's grandmother (GG). She hasn't been doing very well at the rehab facility. First she was having a lot of trouble eating/chewing. After a while they decided to give her a feeding tube. Then earlier this week they believe she suffered a stroke & she has been unresponsive ever since. She is still at the rehab facility but isn't receiving any rehab services at this point and DMIL & her brother have called in Hospice. The goal is now to keep GG comfortable. She is being given medication to help & they have removed the feeding tube. I suspect it won't be too long until she moves on and is reunited with her husband who passed when I was pregnant with Zach (they actually have the same birthday & Zach got his middle name from Grampa).
The kids don't really understand what's going on, but they miss DMIL and are having a hard time with her being gone so long. We usually see her several times a week...
Continued thoughts, prayers & pixie dust that GG remains comfortable and goes peacefully.
Thanks everyone! GG is hanging in there. DMIL & her brother (Tim's uncle) are now taking shifts to be with her 24 hours a day. Hospice has helped to make her comfortable but it's now just a matter of time as they have stopped all food & fluids. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for the support!
Hi Everyone!! Thanks for all of the thoughts & prayers for GG. She passed away this afternoon with her two children by her side. Zach doesn't seem too upset about it, but Alex has really been effected. I think it's because he thinks DMIL (Gramma Nancy) is now "next in line" even thought she's only 66. Both boys are also really missing DMIL & will be REALLY happy to see her when she gets home on Monday. There will be a service in New England sometime in the next few weeks since most of her family is up this way. Her husband (Grampa) is buried in Connecticut and she will be buried with him.
