Give Kids the World Village Volunteer Day EDITED DATE IN FIRST POST

Hey guys, I had wanted in the past to volunteer at GKTW but didn't know about it in time for our last visit. I had almost forgotten about it for our PCC 2.0 trip but then I listened to the show this week and I remembered that I really wanted to volunteer. Right now, nothing is set in stone as far as our travel plans outside of the cruise itself. I think it would be really cool to get as many PCC 2.0ers together to volunteer that day or any of the days surrounding the cruise. I would be happy to organize an event (assuming this hasn't already been discussed- I couldn't find it anywhere but I didn't look too hard). Would Saturday after the cruise, the 18th, work for anyone?

I've volunteered at GKTW twice now and can vouch that it is an amazing experience. I'm not set on my dates yet as I'm only coming post-cruise, but will get back to you if I can squeeze it in.

When you go to set it up, ask for Connie. She handled our DIS Unplugged group last month and was very nice.

Does anyone know how easy it is for international people? - I heard from Yvet and Emiel they do background checks (police records) and that they got Dave to vouch for them.

What an awesome thing to set up. Sadly, our schedule is so tight, there's no way to fit it in for us. But I think it's wonderful for you to do this.

I had a friend from Canada volunteer a few weeks ago and she did not have any problems. She just filled out the regular forms and was good to go.
