Give a day upgrade to AP

If I exchange my give a day voucher for a one day one park ticket, can I then count the $72 towards an AP that same day? We are thinking of going during the summer starting on a Saturday that is a blackout for APs so is there any way to still go that Saturday and still get the AP or do I need to buy a multi-day ticket then pay to upgrade to an AP on the second day since the first is a blackout day? I hope this makes sense to someone and you can answer this for me! Also do you have to go during the month you said you were going to visit?

If you upgrade any ticket on a day that's blocked out for the AP you're purchasing, you can still re-enter the park on that day. In addition to your AP, they'll give you a blockout day ticket that's just good for that day. When you re-enter the park, you'll need to show your AP and the blockout day ticket.

Regarding going during the month you said you were going to visit with the GAD ticket... I don't think so because I think that information was optional anyway, so I'm pretty sure the ticket won't be tied to that month in any way. I've signed up for an event, but haven't done it yet, so don't have my voucher to redeem yet.
