We decided to make fleece blankets for project linus...and we had never made them before and we had a great time. I did not think my manly teenagers would get into making blankets but they did...it melted my heart.
I just wanted to thank disney for this family opportunity to help others, open our hearts and enjoy a park day too!!

Just wanted to say so do we. We made ours on Saturday. It was rewarding. Each one of us took a side and worked together on them. I told the kids that we should say a prayer for the child that received the blanket. Great experience. Thanks Disney.

We have received 2 of these blankets when DD was in the Children's hospital the last time. What a blessing they are to the children to have something that doesn't feel so 'institutional,' especially for the parents who rush up to the hospital during a medical crisis!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

We also received one when my dd was in the hospital for her open heart surgery.. thank you for taking the time to do it!

My girls and I would love to do this too. My dd was in Children's Hospital not too long ago and they gave her the cutest thing for a locker (she will be in middle school next year and totally needed it, how do they just know these things!!) But we have been saying we would love to give back. So how did you find out about this project? Thank for any information!

Could you please share how you are making your blankets? I signed my family up for this and we need to make 8 blankets. I quilt, crochet and knit but am at a loss on how to do the edges on the fleece.

Did you do the fleece blankets? I bought our fleece today. Just wondering if I wash the fabric first or when we are done? We are making the single layer fleece no-sew. Thanks!

If you go on the national Project Linus site they have directions for a variety of different fleece blankets. We did 8 of them too! It was a lot of fun!

I just signed my family up for this as well. Funny, I've made the no sew fleece blankets..and pillows..as activities when my daughters have had sleepovers. What a great idea this is! They actually do come out very nice and hold up well to a lot of washing. I can't sew at all, and even I can do these!

We did this too and it really spoke to me personally. I love Peanuts, snoopy is the best. I love my Disney too, but Snoopy is my favorite. I still have my orginial snoopy from childhood. My son received a baby snoopy themed fleece blanket from a secret 'mommie' swap via the Internet matchup on ivillage.com and he is 7 now and carries it around daily and still sleeps with it. A blankie is a great thing.
I hope that our blankies find their homes and bring some comfort when needed the most.

I did this last summer with my Girl Scout troop. There are several good how-to videos on You Tube that show you exactly what you do. Tying the knots are the tricky part. You want them as flat as possible so they are not uncomfortable to lay on. Its really an easy process once you get the hang of it.

We all had fun doing this too! In fact, so much so that we've signed up for the next Blanket Day at our local Project Linus Chapter (that was not pariticipating in Disney's GAD). They take volunteers as young as 5 years old so all three of my daughters will be able to participate with me.

As far as knots -- our PL blankets were not knotted. We used a seam ripper to cut a tiny whole in the middle at the top of each piece of fringe and pushed the bottom piece of fringe through the whole. It's a little hard to describe, but it's on the PL website under "No Sew Fleece Blankets".

Also, they did NOT want the blankets washed. They had to be made of new materials, not washed.

The blankets we received were not knotted. They were nice and flat which was nice for the baby to lay on.
