Hi

I'm sorry if this has been asked before... Will Disney possibly doing Give a Day Get a Day again in 2011?

Thanks

I'm not sure, I could see it both ways. It was very popular and a great goodwill event for Disney spured volunteerism.

But they couldn't keep giving away tickets and it really wasn't a 2010 event because they closed it after a couple months. It just didn't go as planned.

In one way or another maybe it will happen.

I'm going to go with no.

My answer has absolutely no scienticfic back up, just my brain pondering.

The event was a media success but then turned sour as they got more volunteers then tickets available.
Then there were charges of people doing it only to get the free tickets, tickets showing up on ebay (always a problem) adn other complaints.
I think the head thinkers will come up with an easier marketing tool

Who Knows What EVIL Lurks In The Heart Of Disney Marketing?!

When Disney feels ready to implement their next promotion they will do so. If other recent promotions have been any indication, for about the first month nobody will really understand it and the Marketing people will not have thought out all the ramifications.

I think there will be a promo.. but I do not thing this actually did much for them.

Year before was come free on your birthday.. I think that was way more popular. Brought more advertising all year, and they did not run out of tickets. .. Also if it was your or your kids b-day, you still had to pay for the rest of the party. With mutli day ended up being a 75$ gift card, and that was fun.

I hope not.

I can't believe the number of people that complained about something that was free.:sad2:

"I can't believe what Disney is doing. Husband and I want to take our 15 kids to WDW. Out youngest is 4 so can't take part in the GAD project, the rest of us can. After we complete our project, Disney will only give us 17 free tickets. But what about our 4 year old!!!! We still have to pay for her! Why didn't Disney open this up for all ages!!!":headache:

I'm pretty sure that's a negative. There have been some patents filed by Disney in the past month Patenting "Let the Memories Begin" which would lead one to believe that it would be about...well...Memories at WDW! I've heard Disney has also been sending out something via e-mail along the same lines asking people about their favorite memories at WDW.

Also, Al Lutz reported this week that The Disney Bear is making a comeback. Here's an except from Al's 8/9 column:

Editor's Note 8/9: The next big Disney marketing push is a new character named Duffy, supposedly Mickey's little teddy bear that travels the world with him. Way-too-cute Duffy makes his big debut in the American parks Oct. 14th at DCA and Epcot. Expect a major campaign, since he's already huge in Japan and has the potential for massive sales of the plush and all the accessories. Look for photo locations in DCA and Epcot as well as the obligatory viral marketing this fall, so get your credit cards ready. - Al Lutz

He was first here a few years ago and it didn't go well. They are changing his backstory so that he is "Mickey's bear" now. He'll be out at EPCOT and DCA for M&G's in the next few weeks as it says in the excerpt.

Aww this would be perfect if I were to honeymoon there over the summer... I'm actually kind of hoping for a cute promo this year for that reason :goodvibes

We tried to do the give away this year but there was nothing in our neighborhood. We would have had to travel at least an hour or more, which I thought with the price of gas, it wasn't worth it. We do all kinds of charity work, like the food bank, etc. :confused3
