Give a Day Get a Day - Disappointed

I think this whole idea is crappy - the things listed around here are really JOBS - nonpaying jobs. Not a one time thing. There's instructors(money & quilting) listed & sports coaching. UM yea I'm gonna coach for 1 day. I think Disney 1/2way thought through this idea. They should have hooked up with 1 large company (habitat or whoever that's around the country) that would have jobs that were x # of hours =1 free ticket & that were availeble for ALL ages - if they are Marketing the commercials for ALL ages (which they are!) :sad2:

So I went back and forth between these two pages for a couple hours and it finally went through to final hands on page where you check the date you want and who is volunteering.

Glad you finally got what you needed!

I am now able to get to the final page where I can check the date and who is volunteering, but it won't let me submit- I keep getting the error. It's like being able to see the finish line but not being allowed across. LOL Hopefully it will work soon because it is the only volunteer activity near me that is for kids under 13. Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone else trying.:goodvibes

It looks like the register now button only appears if there is a set time for the volunteer opportunity. For others, I get a contact form to fill out and then click on express interest and you don't get to register.:confused3

I could be wrong, but I believe that you need to check your email after filling out the required information for those types of programs. You should receive something within 5 days.

The closest volunteer opportunity for us is over 40 miles away and we live in an urban area. I looked at one that said it was 25 mile away when in actuality it is 125 miles away.
Just about the same here - there is only one opportunity in my area & you have to be 18. Everything else is over an hour away.

This is so frustrating. The one near us is now gone because after 2 days of trying, it won't let me submit! There is one more that we could go to, but I can't get that one either. I've tried different e-mails and even used my uncle's computer. No matter what I do, I get to the last page and it won't let me submit! It keeps saying there is a stack error.:scared1:

It says they will keep adding things, That they wont all be gone this weekend. Just keep checking back. There are alot of choices for me but I couldnt get through yesterday, this morning at 7am I had no problem and got the on I wanted. We do alot of stuff with church but not as a family I am excited about this and told the kids we will probably make this a monthly family event.

I finally got through! So, for those still trying, there is hope. It's a bit of a hike, but we should be able to make it work. Good luck to everyone still trying.:cheer2:

Also, check other cities in your state, or even other states and see if there is something you can mail in. I found one in Charlotte(2 hours from us) that is a book drive and you only have to collect 5(new or lightly used) books per family member to get the voucher! I went ahead and signed up and THEN emailed to see if I could ship the books. They were fine with that.

Looking in other areas is a good idea.

I actually emailed a couple of places in my state (they were not on the list, so I took a chance). As a result I got one, and we can mail them in. Look at the organizations that are on the list with mutiple locations.

So give that a try. I hope that helps :thumbsup2

I'm sure this is posted somewhere, but I'm in a bit of rush.

I assume the WDW ticket needs to be used this year?

My DM and DF signed up with us (DH and myself) to volunteer even though they don't plan on traveling this year. I assume that they'll get the ticket and it'll just expire (which stinks, because someone else could have used it.) But, they just really wanted to volunteer with us. (Very excited about what we're doing - volunteering for a father/daughter dance!)

Yes, it does need to be used this year. If they do volunteer but won't be able to use it, the tickets can be donated. I'm sure someone on here knows the details.

I've noticed that some of the opportunities are, as you say, full-time jobs that seem to take place at least over several weeks. I wouldn't mind putting in a couple of days but I don't think I want to work as a receptionist for a non-profit *just* to get a Disney park-ticket. If I want to help out in my community for whatever reason, that's one thing, but some of the volunteer "Give a Day, Get a DAY" opportunities are really "Get a job, work full-time, only get a day".

agnes!

I don't think Disney is doing a lot of research on what organizations put on there. Maybe the organizations are using this to get people interested and hope they will continue. I don't really know. I bought a bunch of books for the book drive today at the thrift shop. Lightly used are accaptable, and these books are like new, 19 books for $8.00(twice as many as required). I am going to mail them soon media mail. They just need to be there by February 5.

We got our email today for our tickets!!!!! So happy since we will at WDW in less 3 weeks.

We had our blanket "party" last Wednesday, dropped them off on Friday and got the email today. Less than a week!
