May 19th MGM (with Photos)
Another choice of Lucys today to go back to MGM and ride ToT, RnRc , Indiana Jones Show and the Backlot Tour ..we set off forgetting that it was the first day of Star Wars Weekends!
Massive crowds outside and we only realised when we saw the storm troopers on the roof.
Lucy is actually quite scared here - she always holds her hands like that when she's scared!!
Luckily the crowds went on ahead as we veered off to the right.
Kids rode ToT 3 times and then we did Aerosmith twice. Decided to walk over to do the Backlot tour and reacquainted ourselves with all the crowds. We are not Star Wars fans, and will readily admit that none of us have even seen a film all the way through so we didnt know many of the characters that people were queuing up for nor could we quite understand why anyone would dress in the full Darth-Vader gear when we were in shorts and t-shirts and in 90+ degree heat!!
There were children and adults in the full outfits: which sent Lucy and Kara into hysterics!! I had to tell them to behave themselves!!!
After the Indiana Jones Show we, once again, were starving and decided to eat at the Backlot Express right next to where they were doing the Jedi Training. I swear if that guy shouted activate sabre thingy bobbies one more time I would have gone over and activated him!!
Food was excellent at the Backlot Express or was it just that we were so hungry we would have eaten anything?
We walked to the exit via Mickey Avenue and even though Lucy doesnt know Star Wars from Star Trek she had a great time with the characters Kara just couldnt bring herself to be in the photos!
Lucy was absolutely petrified of this "woman"
Nothing to do with Star Wars!!
Nothing to do with Star Wars again - but just love the photo of them both together
Wandered around the shops around Sunset and Hollywood Boulevard: Kara bought a t-shirt from Planet Hollywood shop with Call My Agent on it and Lucy looked at the Stitchs again but their ears still werent in the right position. I told her that if she wanted to buy him then there was only the shop at CSR left because we were leaving Disney tomorrow .she decided to risk leaving it until she visited the shop!
Really hot day today
and again the humidity is rising even higher. We sat (or rather lay) at the bus stop absolutely shattered.
Managed to struggle to the Dig-Site to plonk ourselves down on sun-lounges whilst Lucy, who had discovered that there were amusement arcades by both the pool and the PM, took herself and $5 off for the afternoon! The novelty of the slide has now totally worn off and she is content with just a quick swim!
Our last night at CSR was spent outside the PM with our soup, chicken fajitas, chicken strips and refillable mug contemplating our last 10 days at Disney and looking forward to the change of scenery at HRH and Universal.
I always feel very sad when leaving Disney
because you never really know when you are coming back and especially as I knew that whilst we were away, Andy had booked to go to Barbados next year so Disney would have to wait until at least 2008.
I dont think that I have mentioned that I had been phoning Andy almost every day at about 4pm (just when the heat was unbearable!!) Kara and I would say Its so hot, should we go and phone home!! We had taken the phone cards that you can buy in a well known chemist (dont know whether I can name them? Can I?) with £20 on them they were very easy to use. Whenever I phoned home Andy just told me how bored he was on his own, how Big Brother had started on the TV and how he was now so bored that he was talking to the dog!! It didnt make me feel the slightest bit guilty about leaving him we were just having the most fantastic time together.
Lucy bought Stitch, with ears all present and correctly positioned. The very large one which was $50 a bargain!! Or so she told me.
Walked back to the room to frantically pack all our stuff, which had seemed to accumulated into a toy shop
Hard bodied suitcases are great but there really is no room for squashing anything in with them. Managed to pack and went to bed at around 10pm!
