Is Nightmare Before Christmas OK for a 3.5 year old to see? He's both sensitive and brave, and you never know which one he'll be.

He has seen Star Wars and loved it, wants to see it again, but his behaviour changed dramatically (fighting *everything* and months later he's still talking about a light saber to go along with his knight (prince philip) sword and his pirate sword and all the other swords and blasters this son of two pacifists creates from his simple Tinker Toys) and I banned it from his sight.
Anyway, is it OK? I'm sure hubby would say it's fine, but the point of the Star Wars mention was that his judgment is suspect sometimes...
He got spooked last year in the stretch room of HM (thanks to the adults screaming at nothing, sigh), but I'm sure the unfamiliar and spooky images from NBC didn't help. I don't want to have to go through the exit again (black-walled hallways turning twisting long and scary) b/c he was crying and I was almost crying by the time we got out, so I want him to see *something* familiar while we're in line and on the ride this December, so I can see the silly ride for the first time since I was something like 9! In '05 it wasn't open for Halloween yet, last year DS freaked out, and this year it was closed until our last day and then the lines were just crazy-long.
Be warned if I do NOT get to go on this ride next month, I'm going to take a full day of this April trip, if I can go, just to ride HM obsessively, to make up for FOUR trips to DL without riding it.
