I've been trying to spread the cost of buying what we need to take and looking everywhere for girls shorts. My two need 5-6 & 7-8 sizes but nowhere has anything non denim.
There are loads of boys shorts but no lightweight girls shorts. I've tried everywhere!
Can anyone recommend anywhere I can try?

Counting down to 14th May!

Fortunatly my DD doesn't grow round the waist much so I can normally get 2 years out of shorts (unlike everything else as she grows up at an alarming rate :scared1: ) anyway this early in the year it is normally M&S or maybe Next. Give it a couple of weeks and you should have more choice. :goodvibes

Have you looked online? Have u looked on ebay? They do new and old on there. The shops will be stocking up in march april time and ur going may so u have plenty of time. I got my dd from next in april last year and we went 10 days after.

Next have a few but they're expensive for what they are. Will try eBay again or wait til April. I couldn't recall when summer clothes comes out as we usually holiday in July!

Tesco on line have quite a few styles of girls shorts. Next usually have two packs of elastic waist shorts in the spring catalogue quite cheap.

I just looked at next. Three pack for 6 year old £12.50 and £14.50 for an 8 year old. Also a two pack cheaper. Not sure you'll find anything at a much better price than those?

Matalan had some pretty jersey ones when I was in today in lovely pastels shades :)

I usually go for asda prices for holidays since if they get covered in suncream or the like I don't care. I just don't like next. So overpriced and poor quality.
Will try tesco and matalan. Thanks.

See DD has 3 pairs of next shorts and they have all done 2 summers. Washed and worn fine.

Unfortunately DD is so skinny she can't wear anything without adjustable waists - so it tends to be Next or M&S.

Don't have sunscreen issues as we use the spray on no rub and do it before she gets dressed :thumbsup

I know you said you don't want to pay too much but I swear by Mini Boden. My DD1 has had several pairs of their heart pocket shorts and they are fab. She currently has a denim pair which are really a size too big for her but as they are elasticated waist (button thing), you can adjust easily and they don't look too baggy iyswim. They are expensive, but if you can a) get them with a 20% off offer (and free delivery/returns), and b) get two summers out of them, then they are a good price.

My DD2 is able to wear lots of DD1's boden clothes once outgrown, but very rarely can we keep the likes of Next, M&S etc for two children as they just don't wash/wear as well. And then selling it on ebay afterwards is always a good bet too - a few times I've sold Boden items for more than I bought them for!! :thumbsup2

Another thought - have you tried Primark? - would think their spring/summer ranges will be in now.

We always do really well at H&M for girls cotton shorts. Might be a bit early just now though.

I've been looking for my DD too, so far I have found some in Matalan and Next as mentioned above.

Mothercare also have some 3 packs in my local store :)

I think the problem is that it's not quite shorts season :(

Catalogue places like very.co.uk will probably have them. I managed to buy summer wardrobes in April so they may be in stock soon, but for throwaway light clothing you can't really beat primark on price!

Do you have a Sport Soccer/Soccer or Sports Direct shop by you. There's always sporty type girls wear in there, good luck :thumbsup2

Sports Direct also has a website. They tend to be a bit hit and miss in what they have, but the prices are generally good.

What about pumpkin patch? They have some cheap shorts and there is free delivery at the moment.

I quite often get our girls surf type shorts from fat face, ***********, billabong etc. They usually do really nice surf style shorts but girly pink with flowers on etc. They frequently double up as swim short or playing in fountain shorts and cover their thighs so they don't get burnt sitting down.

M and M direct frequently sell those and other brands really very cheaply.

Some nice ones at the moment but depends what your girls like

Thanks london75 I've ordered some. Got myself some animal ones cheap too!
