Angie: are you renting a car? Coz' if so I have to tell you about the shrimp trucks . . . . . .
We are renting a car for at least a few days. I'd love any tips, hints suggestions...

I totally understand. I am the same way. In high school, I had a reputation for being a snob when I was just really shy and didn't know what to say.
Luckily, once people get to know me, they see that's not true, and in fact, they find I almost never shut up. :rotfl:
I understand where you're coming from. I'm too shy to walk up to people even if I kind of know who they are. But once I get talking watch out!

We could TIE-DYE our grey shirts...... :rotfl2:

Hot pink Mickey Head tie-dyed on grey? Hm. :rotfl:
That sounds cute!

I'm a Newbie also, but I think Beth's plan is excellent! Let's just go with it. This issue can be put to rest :woohoo:.

I saw Brave last night with my family. We all really enjoyed it and laughed through the whole thing :rotfl2:.

I'll be at DLR on Tuesday with my DH. I see a couple of you will be there. Maybe we could meet somewhere, so I can just get to know you. We'll start in CarsLand of course and will do Mattahorn and see Voices of America. I saw them last Tuesday, and they were great! I really enjoyed their performance.

We're leaving on our family trip to Colorado on Friday. We will do some river rafting/zip lining and found a ranch that lets you actually run your horses--not just the nose to tail boring trail ride--so we reserved that too. We're all excited! My DS15 has been on a high adventure camp with the scouts this week. My DD17 and DD12 leave for girl's camp Monday (they have to come home Thursday night instead of Friday morning for our trip), then I have a sister's week in Vegas. My family will just leave me in Vegas on the 9th on our way home from Colorado. Then the next week my DH, who's the scoutmaster (we had hoped our DS11 would be able to go, since his Dad will be there, but nope) will go to scout camp while my DD17 gets her wisdom teeth out. Everyone will be home for a week, then my DD17 goes the next week for a church camp--hopefully she's recovered by then. Among these my DS11 has 2 football camps, and my DS15 and DD12 have volleyball camps. My DD20 is incredibly busy with a full time Accounting intership, M-F 8-5 then works 5 evenings/days on weekends a week as a DCA CM. She gets no sleep. My DS22 is working like crazy this summer trying to get enough $ for school this Fall. I however, am sitting pretty because my father, who has Alzheimer's, and who I take care of through the school year is staying with one of my married nephews, who has been living in his home. They wanted to earn some extra money, and it gives me a break. Other than getting my kids to all their events, my life is more normal--I just manage my father's trusts, investments, books and investment companies--crazy is normal :scared1:

That's my life this summer. Boring to you (you'll all be tested at the end :rotfl::rotfl:) but my life just the same :3dglasses

Hello, hello ladies!!! :cool1: It's the weekend! Whoo hoo!

Hmm, not sure why I am so excited since I'm not doing a gosh darn thing. But I'm sure someone somewhere is having a blast so I will cheer for them! In fact, I know that Jill/4fosterkids is in Orlando with her family having a great time. And, Mary Jo is also in Orlando, I think leaving for her cruise today! So there ya have it. People who have lives. :rotfl:

Theresa, Lisa and Bridget, I can't wait to see what fun tie dye shirts you come up with to wear! See, Sunday is a good day....everyone gets to have a little fun with it! :goodvibes

Capri, shy?? :lmao: Funniest. Thing. Ever. :rotfl2:

Linda, stay safe with those earthquakes! Enjoy Lake Tahoe. It's so pretty up there. That's where I went on my honeymoon. Ever heard of the Fantasy Inn? :rolleyes1 That was just about 19 years ago... I wonder if it still exists?

Hi Angie and Andrea! I'm a bit scared to go check out that site now. That's the last thing I need. More reasons to sit on my butt in front of the computer all day. :rotfl2:

Rose, your plans for Colorado sound so fun! And I hope your Vegas sisters week is a blast! Good luck to your DD who's getting her wisdom teeth out. I hope she recovers quickly and in time for camp....and smores! lol
Lots of summer camps going on! I never did that with my kids. :sad2: I guess I am too overprotective. I don't even like them to spend the night at friend's houses.

Everyone else, have a fabulous day! :)

Hello Everyone. Just checking in and saying hello. I have been getting my dusting done today, which is a job that I detest!

Beth I keep meaning to say your train trip looks really fun. I have been wanting to do a train trip but nobody else in my family really is into it. Strange! Anyhow, you'll have to do a trip report so I can live vicariously.

Well have a great day!
Tracey

I don't let them go until they're 12 (they don't do sleep overs until they're 12 either--believe me I have not been a popular parent with that rule). At 12 they go when I know the adults going. At 14 they can go on their own. They're only gone for a week. I don't think I could do those 6 week camps--my sister has sent her kids to those. It's always amazed me that one child being gone can feel like such a huge hole in my family. One would think with 6 children the loss of one wouldn't make a difference, but it does :confused3.

Wednesday: This is the first official day of the trip. Yes, it is. Therefore, following with tradition, lime green is always worn the first official day. But Beth, you might be saying, not everyone can make it on Wednesday and they'll miss wearing their lime green. Well, I am very sorry about that. Truly, I am. But, it's one day. I'm sure it will be ok. Keep in mind, that even when it was on Thursday, not everyone could make it in that day either. Many would come in on Friday morning, or if they did arrive on Thursday, it was just in time to change for the Meet and Greet.

Thursday: This day we can always wear the previous trip shirt. (In the case of the upcoming 2013 trip, it will be the pink tees)
That way each group shirt is worn at least twice so it's beauty and the hard work that went into it, can be enjoyed on more than one occasion. Also by wearing it on day two, that gives Mel the chance to hand deliver them, or leave them waiting at a hotel room as opposed to having to mail them out ahead of time. So far, both days have shirts that are easy to spot for any newbies still arriving.

Friday: This day will be the new group tee. This one is a no brainer, and I believe the only day that's been easily agreed upon. It's the day of the big group photo, as well as the scavenger hunt. The new group tee is ALWAYS worn for those events.

Saturday: This day will be a "color day". Each year, we can pick a new color to use on this day. Switch it up a bit from year to year. For the upcoming 2013 trip, it's going to be grey. I understand the concern over the PFF photo possibly being dull, however I have to respectfully disagree with that. I think there are enough fun/cute gray shirts out there, in enough shades (50? lol) that it will look fine. (I've seen some cute Disney shirts in gray that I think are far from boring. So, there are options other than just a plain crew cut gray t-shirt if you keep an eye out. I already posted several on p. 190 that are currently for sale on Kohls and Target's website.)

Sunday: On this day, it's all up to you!! Freedom to choose what you want. Did you miss wearing lime green on Wednesday?? Wear it today! Do you love the purple castle tee, or the black pirate tee, or the white Tink tee, or even the aqua martini tee from years past? Wear it today! Do you love Snow White or Mickey or Stitch? Wear it today! Do you crafty Divas have a custom made tee that you put your own heart and soul into and haven't had the chance to show off yet? Wear it today! See, the theme here?

Works for me. I can live with pink on one day I guess. Although my favorite character shirt is also my grey Mickey shirt, I guess I'll have to buy a new character shirt! Oh no! Shopping!

Hi Tracey! I hate dusting, too. It's so dry and windy here, I can literally dust one day and two days later it will appear I haven't dusted in weeks! Yesterday it was breezy with a 3% humidity. Dry as a bone, but lots of sand, dirt and dust flying around.

I would do a trip report, but not sure where I'd do it at! LOL It doesn't fall under any category. Plus, I am an awful writer. I am pretty sure no one cares to read my ramblings. :rotfl: I will take lots of pics though!

My twins are 12, and I really should give them a bit more freedom.

Okay, is that sarcasm? :rotfl2: If it was me, it would be sarcasm since I have no problem shopping. :rolleyes1 Except when I have no money, of course. But, if that was my daughter, it would be for real. A day shopping at the mall is just about her idea of torture. Definitely not a typical teen girl! :confused3

That would have been, actually still is, me. I hate to shop. I'll go to DLR any day of the week, but shopping----torture.

Jen just had to say I see you are leaving tomorrow for DL and Univ. We leave on Sunday!! ;)

We are going to be up north on Sunday and Monday but will be at the parks on Tues and Wed then doing the WB studio tour and some other hollywood stuff on Thurs and Univ on Fri. Maybe I will see you there. :)
Message me on facebook and we can meet up for a few minutes on Monday or Tuesday :)

"just" Magicale
mmmmm...makes me wish I had a tumbler-full!

I'm up in Lake Tahoe ... did anyone down in the valley feel the earthquake yesterday evening???? :confused3

No, we didn't feel it; I didn't realize there was one!

We are all packed and just about ready to go. Bedtime in about an hour so I can start driving at about 12:30am. We like to get there for park opening :upsidedow If you can, stop by the parks Sunday-Friday and say hello to me! I think Rochelle and I are meeting up on Monday for Mad T Party :hyper:
Have a great week Diva's!

Hi Everyone! :wave2: It has been a while since I've been on the boards and I've been getting caught up with all the posts. :coffee: I've been under the weather the past couple of weeks :faint: but starting to feel better. Although I still have no voice, but i think some of my family members might be happy about that - lol. ;)

First, big Congrats to Jen! pixiedust: I will miss getting the chance to meet you at the DIS meet but what a wonderful surprise. How exciting! All the best to you and your family :goodvibes

Second, t-shirt posts. I am totally easy going there. I'll wear whatever - except the neked stuff :scared:. That would scare you -lol. Ok, I have to admit I am a bit psyched about the grey suggestion... That's like half my wardrobe - lol :thumbsup2 So I have lots of choices in case I'm having a bad wardrobe day or something I can look fantabulous in grey.:cool1: Also, I'm really looking forward to Melody's new retro cars design this year. :thumbsup2:

Andrea if I was working at Michael's there wouldn't be a net paycheck. ;) I think I'd been in trouble there, but congrats on your job and that is a great opportunity for spending afternoons with your son.

Laurie, good luck with the situation with Mia. Your family and home would be such a wonderful choice for her. I hope it works out. I hope Derek is having a fun time in the CP Program and I need to get caught up on your WDW pre-trip report.

Everyone have a great evening. I am waiting for DH to get home and then we are going to have a quiet dinner for two. ;) DD is working late and DS is out with his friends at the movies. Date night without even leaving the house - wahoo! pirate:

I loathe clothes shopping. But I can shop for HOURS in a good craft or electronics store.....

Hi all! Back from a relaxing birthday gathering out at my friend's family ranch in Lincoln. They all did the Lincoln Mud Run this morning and then celebrated their daughter's 19th birthday afterwards. Even staying in the shade and wearing a hat, somehow I sunburned my face. Arms? Nope. Face? Toast. Don't get that one. LOL

All caught up here and back to the craft mine. LOL Toodles!

Definitely sarcasm! :dance3:
Got it! :thumbsup2

It's weird, I have three girls and none of them are really into fashion or brand names. They aren't really girly-girls. For example, they want nothing to do with the Disney princesses. I have failed them! :rotfl:

Safe travels, Jen!! I can't wait to hear all about it.
Give Rochelle a big hug from me!

Hi, Pam. Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. Glad you are on the mend though!
Enjoy your at home date night tonight. Gonna watch a little tv?? :rolleyes1 :happytv: (that's Diva code for...well, you can guess) lol

I hate clothes shopping for myself. I enjoy it for the kids.
I'm not sure what stores I like for myself.... Hmmm. I'm not crafty. I am horrible with electronic stuff. Not really that into make-up or perfumes. I guess party stores are fun for me, especially around Halloween. Or a general store like Target with a little bit of everything.

Even staying in the shade and wearing a hat, somehow I sunburned my face. Arms? Nope. Face? Toast. Don't get that one. LOL
Ouch! Get some aloe vera, and stay cool. Good luck in the craft mine!

Got it! :thumbsup2

Heh, my daughters are both the same way. They're 15 and 16 and are not fans of the princesses, shopping or the color pink. I see that as total success. I love to shop, but I do most of it online. I hate going to clothing stores. Of course I could spend a whole day in Lowe's and be happy as a clam.

While I was in Afghanistan my favorite thing to do was shop on Amazon for stuff to make my hooch and our offices better. My boss insisted that I was singlehandedly responsible for Amazon turning a profit in the 2nd quarter of 2011.

I am not into the Princess stuff either, and don't love clothes shopping at all. I do however, like to spend money, lol. Even walking around Walmart makes me feel better some days! Haha. Disney Store is my favourite though, whenever I can get there. At least it used to be. Now it is mostly little kid stuff, which is really disappointing.
