Evening ladies!

Got home late this afternoon from my Piuma-Pellofu-Briano family reunion. This reunion has been held every 3rd Saturday of June for over 113 years. :) Even some Franzias were there? Do you remember Franzia wine? I am even distantly related to the Gallos. We used to go to family reunions with the Gallos, but have lost that connection since the oldies have passed on. Anyways, had a good time, and won 1st place on the annual cake contest. :blush:I made a 5 layer chocolate cake with mascarpone, cream, Kalua and espresso filling, topped with a nice chocolate glaze. The filling was so good that I could have eaten that all by itself! :rolleyes1

Pam, I got your message. I do have some shirts yet.:thumbsup2 Have a nice time :happytv: . ;)

Hymm... I love to shop, I loves me some clothes, shoes, I love to buy make up, I love BLING, princesses in pink and purple. What can I say? My girls didn't have a chance, and they are worse than me. :rolleyes1

Jen, have a good time, and no fancy drinks for you, my dear. :snooty:

Lisa, have fun in your craft mine! Are you stamping to get ready for your convention? :goodvibes

Marty's mom is good friends with Marie Gallo, who is Julio's daughter in law. Marty andhis siblings went to school with their kids, too. Small world!

Hi everyone! Wow, so many fun and yummy things going on for many of you! :cool1:

I've been annoyed with Ryan's friend this weekend. Maybe I'm just in a bad mood, but the kid and his mom annoy me, which is hard to do. I don't annoy easily.

First, the kid's mom won't drive him around. Ryan invites him to stay the night, but his mom won't drop him off or pick him up. Not because she can't do it. She just doesn't want to be bothered with it. They only live 5 minutes away for crying out loud. So I get to play taxi driver for someone else's kid?!! I dont' get it. :confused3

Also, his mom requested her kid take a shower here. Wth? Why didn't he take a shower before I picked him up? Or why doesn't he take a shower when he gets home after I drop him off? I don't know...the whole thing seems weird.

Then the kid sets a very loud alarm on Ryan's cell phone to go off at 7am this morning. Hello, it's a sleepover. You were up really late last night. Why in the hell would you set an alarm for 7am in someone else's home at a sleepover? When I asked him why he did it, he said, "Well, I wanted to get up early, but these guys (Ryan and Luke) don't want to get up." Well duh kid. Shocker. Go back to bed.
Blink.gif

So I go out, clean the pool, check the garden, ect, come back in, and call the boys to the table for some cereal. Ryan and Luke come a running, but no kid. Where's the kid? Oh, he's not coming mom. He already ate.
shocked-smiley-9456.gif

And the kicker....last night the kid says to me, "Capri, you know that guy who shot the two police officers last week and then killed himself. Yeah, he was my mom's friend's ex-drug dealer."
shocked.gif

So that is why I'm annoyed. And I will be taxi-driving his stinky, non-showered self back to his mom shortly.

Time for Ryan to get a new friend!

Camo Mamma, thanks for sharing the photos of your hooch. It's nice that you were able to decorate it to make it feel a little homey.

Capri, the issues with that kid just sound odd. I could never let my kid go somewhere and not know almost every detail about it. And who wants to get up at 7am on a weekend if they don't have to. :confused3

I unfortunately had to work at 7am this morning. And I have to be back at work at 3am tonight to help unload the truck. Ugh. This will be my first time doing this shift, so we will see how it goes. At least I get a three day weekend next week. I get to spend Canada Day down in Calgary with some family and friends, so looking forward to that.

And just thought I'd share a cute photo of my little man cuddling with his Duffy. :goodvibes

Ok, he is absolutely adorable!

We had a very nice bridal shower for my sister in law yesterday. We have major wedding fever going on here!

Hello, ladies!! Our thread finally made it to the 200's!! Only 49 more to go before a new thread.

We went to see "Brave" today. Ruben and I took the twins. Couldn't get the older two interested at all. Oh well. I liked it a lot! And, we stayed through the credits to see the little funny bit at the end. Thanks, Lisa! (I think it was you who suggested it...)

Of course I could spend a whole day in Lowe's and be happy as a clam.
The minute I was into any home improvement store, my brain shuts down and my eyes glaze over. :rotfl: I just couldn't be more bored. I can tell you and I are going to have fun....I'll be trying to sell you on the joys of pink, and you'll be trying to explain the joys of a new tool set. ;)

Disney Store is my favourite though, whenever I can get there. At least it used to be. Now it is mostly little kid stuff, which is really disappointing.
I haven't been in a Disney store in ages. I think Christmas was the last time, for a Jack Skellington mug for Hannah. And that was the first time in I can't remember how long. There is nothing there that any of my kids are interested in.

By the way, love the pic of Seth!!

Then had a lovely lunch at Cathay Circle with Bree, Cheryl and one of her friends. It was such a good day. I hope all of you are enjoying the weekend. :)
Sounds like a great time! Glad you were able to meet up with them.

...... but they do like tie dye, so it's all good :thumbsup2 :lmao:
Like I said, I failed them! :rolleyes1 lol

Anyways, had a good time, and won 1st place on the annual cake contest. :blush:I made a 5 layer chocolate cake with mascarpone, cream, Kalua and espresso filling, topped with a nice chocolate glaze. The filling was so good that I could have eaten that all by itself! :rolleyes1
Sounds amazing!! Yay for 1st place. :cool1:

They have always liked clothes, but they don't care about name brands. I think that just means they're down to earth and not snooty :snooty:, so you must be doing something right :thumbsup2
Saves a lot of money, too! :thumbsup2

I almost miss my little hooch sometimes, especially when I'm cleaning my big old house! So anyway, there's a little window into the life of a female Soldier in Afghanistan. It wasn't an easy place to be, but we made it as close to home as possible and tried to have fun. The little motivational sayings plastered all over my walls helped, too. And almost all of the pictures on my walls were of my kids and parents from our Disneyland trip in July 2010, a couple of months before I left. The one over the head of my bed was of all of us with Pluto at Goofy's kitchen. That trip and planning for our WDW trip when I got back totally got me through that year.
Thanks for sharing those pics! It's very interesting. It was neat to see how you took the space and did what you could to make it your own. Thank you for all your time over there.

And we had the best dessert - mini doughnuts made fresh to order with your choice of toppings - chocolate, caramel, cinnamon sugar, powders sugar or sprinkles served in a cone! They were sooo good!
That sounds so good!! The twins birthday is next month, and Hannah doesn't like cake. She asked for donuts instead. She would've been in heaven with those mini donuts!

Happy Sunday, Divas! Hope everyone is having a great day. I am hopeful we are going to actually get some sun later today. The weather has been completely freak here. Yesterday was a mixture of torrential rain, lightening, thunder... Did I miss anything else in there? I'm sure I did.
That sounds awesome! I love a good thunder storm. We have too much sun here. It's so depressing looking at the weather forecast knowing it's going to be nothing but triple digits for the next 3-4 months. :scared1: Summer in Vegas is just the worst. For me anyway. It's fine if you are out by a pool with a cold drink. Sucks for running errands.

So that is why I'm annoyed. And I will be taxi-driving his stinky, non-showered self back to his mom shortly.
 That sounds like a nightmare sleepover!

This is the second time the kid has spent the night at our house. The first time, his mom never even talked to us. She didn't have our phone numbers. She didn't even know where we lived (I played taxi driver that time too.) The kid is only 12 years old - a mom should care enough to know those things! She still doesn't have our phone numbers. :sad2:
That is unbelievable. Poor kid. What kind of mom is that??

I was able to leave early and grab some well needed margaritas and appetizers with DH at On The Border before heading over to the last 3D showing of Brave. The movie was amazing..a must see. I was crying like a baby by the end..but I do in most Disney movies as it makes me miss my late mom all that much more.
Aww.
The movie was really good. I love Merida!

The minute I was into any home improvement store, my brain shuts down and my eyes glaze over. :rotfl: I just couldn't be more bored. I can tell you and I are going to have fun....I'll be trying to sell you on the joys of pink, and you'll be trying to explain the joys of a new tool set. ;)

Heheheh... I'll teach you how to change a tire and remodel your kitchen for under $100.

My best friend is super girly, she's been trying to give me fashion sense for years. She has failed miserably, but she has fun trying.

Good Morning! So much chat and I am again way behind. I don't know how you all do it. Work, clean house, drive the kids and keep up with the dis. I can't do it. This weekend was a lot of housecleaning and then when the sun came out, a lot of yard work. I was really proud of my kids who did a great job pitching in without much whining at all. Not always the norm, if ya know what I mean.

Capri, that is a difficult friend situation. I am with you in offering guidance to ds to find a new friend! Okay, I did not mulit quote so now I have to remember what I was going to say, hmmm....

Mel, that cake you made sounds amazing! I am doing weight watchers and am pretty sure one slice would be a days worth of points. YUM!

Beth, I totally hear you on the triple digits! Whenever we are there in summer, I tell my husband that if I had to do anything other than lay by the pool, I would likely just lay down and melt. Even at the pool I stay in the shade. I got so burnt yesterday from working in the yard for 4 hours, and I was in and out of the shade! I guess I will be getting a lot of pool time at Disney World in August!

Camomama, I enjoyed your solo trip report! I have just had one solo day, but really enjoyed it. Looks like you had a wonderful time. The Motel 6 looked pretty good! What was the rate, if you don't mind me asking? And where is it located? I see that you walked so it can't be too far.

Well today is a big appointment day. Vision Therapy for starters! After 9 months, we are really struggling with staying on task, but it has been such a joy to see the corrections and watch my 9 year old finally learning to read. He advanced at least 2 grade levels this year. Yeah! My oldest will see the audiologist and the ENT today to see what the hearing loss fallout is from his head trauma last week. Keep your fingers crossed, k? Then we pack him up for a full week of camp at Mt Shasta on the houseboats with his youth ministry group. He is so excited, and I am happy for him, but worried at the same time. It is a long ways from home! Then Friday I put dh and other ds on a plane to Minnesota and it will just be me and the dog at home for 5 whole days!WooHOO! I think I won't cook at all, just eat lean cuisines all week long!

Good Morning ! My sisters and I had a wonderful 3 days in the parks. Carsland was not crowded at all, at least not as crowded as I was expecting. Disneyland was even less crowded. The Billys are now at Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree. It seemed like less people than in the Shoe. I have a feeling when it's really hot people will perfer seeing Laughing Stock just to be indoors. Not good for the Billys. Still a fun show. Radiator Springs was so much fun!! Luigi's Flying Tires was fun too but we had a hard time getting out tire to move. I love all the new changes to Ca. Ad. It's all so fresh and new!

Oh, I have the changing tire part down pat. It's easy! Just call AAA. ;)

Silly girl. Lock the kids in their rooms, quit work, and don't clean the house. See, problem solved. :thumbsup2

Good luck at their appointments. I'm glad the reading is going well, even if it's been a struggle.
Did I miss the part about what happened with the head trauma?? Or am I just forgetting... I hope his appointment goes ok. Fingers crossed for you both! Keep us updated.
The camp at Mt. Shasta sounds fun. I've always wanted to rent a houseboat.

Enjoy your alone time while they are all gone, but eat something better than a Lean Cuisine. Bleh!

Hi, Trudi! What a great photo. You all look so happy. :goodvibes I'm glad you had a fun time together, and that crowds were minimal.
I heard they moved the Billys. If it was hot out, I know that would affect my decision to go see them. :sad2: Hopefully they'll still get a good crowd. They just seem to fit in so much better where they were.

I had heard that Luigi's Tires was not really being well received. Lots of complaints on slow loading time, and being a bit of a challenge to operate. To me that ride and the Tow Mater ride just seemed like filler. :confused3 The RSR are clearly the real show stopper. Just my thoughts from what I've seen, but I still can't wait to check it all out in person.

!

It was a great trip. The Motel 6 pleasantly surprised me, the room was huge and very clean and comfortable with plenty of space to unpack. I believe the rate was somewhere around $50/night. After taxes for 3 nights it was $166 and change. It's down Disney Way, past the Garden Walk, next door to the Residence Inn and right by the freeway entrance and exit. And even though I had a view of the freeway there was no road noise in the room. In fact I never heard anything outside the room, which was awesome.

Non-drinker here. Someone has to keep an eye on all you lushes.

:lmao:

That would be Katelyn remember! lol! I told her we were staying at the HOJO and her coment was at least I know where to put you to bed at. You would think I drank all the time but I am only a social drinker!

I prefer jello shots over wine! :cheer2:

I am sooooooooo far behind on this thread :scared1:.

I think the t-shirt schedule looks great. I have tons of gray shirts so now I just have to decide if I want to buy a new one or use one I already have??? Still plenty of time to think about it.

Mel~ That cake sounds super yummy and I'm glad I wasn't around to try it. I might have ate the whole thing ;).

Andrea~ Your son is adorable . I love babies and I wish someone close to me would have one so I can play with it!!!

Capri~ Sorry you had to get up early on the weekend! Who the heck does that??? :rolleyes1 (me). But his mom seems a little off so I'd keep an eye on that friendship.

I can't remember anything else I was going to mention, but I just wanted to make a PSA. Katie is totally in love . It just seems too good to be true and I'm waiting for things to crash and burn :upsidedow but I'm enjoying it while it's good. Seriously though, we are way compatible and have the best time together. My kids love him, his kids love me, my ex hates him, his ex hates me, so it's a good balance .

That is unbelievable. Poor kid. What kind of mom is that??

It's the kind of mom who has a friend with a now dead ex-drug dealer. That disturbes me more than anything. When I said to the kid, "I sure hope your mom's friend doesn't do drugs." he didn't respond.

And I know this isn't always true....but....people hang with "like" people. So if his mom has a friend that does drugs, I'm suspicious that his mom does drugs too. I could be way off base, but shouldn't I err on the side of caution? :confused3

Hope it goes well with the audiologist today. I know you're worried.

Five days all to yourself?!! Party at your place!!! :cool1: :woohoo: :cool1:

Love your picture! And YAY for smaller crowds! I can't wait to see it all and try out the new attractions.

I didn't know they moved Billy and the Hillbillies. Although, thinking about it, maybe I'll actually get to see them now - haha. :thumbsup2 :rolleyes1

I am sooooo happy for you!!!! Stop waiting for the "crash and burn". Just forget the past, accept the fact that someone out there sees you for the amazing woman you are, and be happy knowing you deserve this.

One word: Yes.

Wednesday: This is the first official day of the trip. Yes, it is. Therefore, following with tradition, lime green is always worn the first official day. But Beth, you might be saying, not everyone can make it on Wednesday and they'll miss wearing their lime green. Well, I am very sorry about that. Truly, I am. But, it's one day. I'm sure it will be ok. Keep in mind, that even when it was on Thursday, not everyone could make it in that day either. Many would come in on Friday morning, or if they did arrive on Thursday, it was just in time to change for the Meet and Greet.

Thursday: This day we can always wear the previous trip shirt. (In the case of the upcoming 2013 trip, it will be the pink tees)
That way each group shirt is worn at least twice so it's beauty and the hard work that went into it, can be enjoyed on more than one occasion. Also by wearing it on day two, that gives Mel the chance to hand deliver them, or leave them waiting at a hotel room as opposed to having to mail them out ahead of time. So far, both days have shirts that are easy to spot for any newbies still arriving.

Friday: This day will be the new group tee. This one is a no brainer, and I believe the only day that's been easily agreed upon. It's the day of the big group photo, as well as the scavenger hunt. The new group tee is ALWAYS worn for those events.

Saturday: This day will be a "color day". Each year, we can pick a new color to use on this day. Switch it up a bit from year to year. For the upcoming 2013 trip, it's going to be grey. I understand the concern over the PFF photo possibly being dull, however I have to respectfully disagree with that. I think there are enough fun/cute gray shirts out there, in enough shades (50? lol) that it will look fine. (I've seen some cute Disney shirts in gray that I think are far from boring. So, there are options other than just a plain crew cut gray t-shirt if you keep an eye out. I already posted several on p. 190 that are currently for sale on Kohls and Target's website.)

Sunday: On this day, it's all up to you!! Freedom to choose what you want. Did you miss wearing lime green on Wednesday?? Wear it today! Do you love the purple castle tee, or the black pirate tee, or the white Tink tee, or even the aqua martini tee from years past? Wear it today! Do you love Snow White or Mickey or Stitch? Wear it today! Do you crafty Divas have a custom made tee that you put your own heart and soul into and haven't had the chance to show off yet? Wear it today! See, the theme here?
As for not matching, it's the last day. By now everyone should know who is who. And for photos, many are going home this day, so photo opportunities will be limited anyway. We have the big farewell breakfast in the morning and I think it will be fun to see what everyone decided to choose as their favorite Disney shirt.

I think this is perfect!! :) I'll skip lime green, get the pink from Melody and I love those grey shirts posted from disney shopping!!! :)

Oooooo.... I want a review of Toby's place when you get back! That's on our list to go and check out!

It was fun, it's HUGE inside!! Like majorly huge!! The wait for a table was 3 hours when we got there (at 7 and they opened at 5) so we didn't eat, I have no idea what the food is like or the drinks, but we saw tons of people with HUGE mason jars with beer/drinks in them! We watched Zak & Jay perform a little bit but we left before Brodie Stewart come on, which resulted in a lot of teasing as we know this band as well. :) We are going back, maybe this Friday, maybe not, we aren't sure when exactly but we are going back. :)

We could TIE-DYE our grey shirts...... :rotfl2:

Hot pink Mickey Head tie-dyed on grey? Hm. :rotfl:

Ok this actually sounds VERY cute!!

And just thought I'd share a cute photo of my little man cuddling with his Duffy. :goodvibes

DSC08756.jpg

Oh.Em.GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE he's just squeeable! LOL And yes, I meant to leave out the z. ;) What a cutie!!!!

I had a great weekend in Reno with the BFF, we shopped like crazy (mostly window shopping, I only bought 2 shirts and a denim mini skirt lol), ate good food, stayed up too late and had a great time just the 2 of us. :) We are already planning our return trip! LOL
I've got 12 days left ladies and I'm excited!! I need to see where else Cass wants to eat and see if we can get reservations, it's getting close!! I also need to work on our shirts (I'm actually considering a tie dye Mickey) and see how many trading pins we have, if I need to get more I need to get them now....LOL

There's a Toby Keiths here in Vegas at Harrahs. I can't believe the wait was 3 hours where you went! Here, it's never been busy when I've seen it. I haven't eaten there yet, but I really want to...mainly so I can drink from those mason jars! :thumbsup2 Sounds like you had a great time out with your friend!

And yay for 12 more days!!! :yay:

Okay ladies, we did this last year per Melody's request, and I think it ended up being a nice reference to have. I'm talking about the Attendee List! :cool1:

The list I have on the front page now, is the one we had from before, so I am going to delete that and start a new one. It was nice to see who exactly was going, and which days. Especially now with some coming on Wednesday and some not, I think that a new list will come in handy. ::yes::

So, if you are planning to attend the DIS Divas 6th Annual Disneyland Trip, please post and let me know. Also, if you know exactly which days you will be there, let me know that as well. Thanks!!

Looking forward to a new "official list", as well as seeing many familiar and new faces in February! :)

Awesome! No need to run "up the hill", we can just wait till October in Vegas.
