I need help figuring out what kind of tickets or AP to buy for the trip. I would like to get a Deluxe or Premium AP for the year and I have a couple of questions:

1) Are there any discounts available now for APs for Northern Californians? Or am I out of luck since it's after 12/31 and I don't live near a Costco that sells them?
2) Am I better off getting a multi-day ticket to get an early entry and then trading it in for the AP last day of trip? Do APs come with one early entry? (I'm thinking no, but doesn't hurt to ask...)

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Cheryl.... wow that's a tough one. Because.. I can understand wanting some alone time... Yet I always think... What if this is my last year with my mother or grandmother.

I would take my mom with me for a birthday trip.

But...I would make sure to tell her before the trip.. How about this trip we plan a little... so that You have time to rest in the room... and I have some time to do some things You aren't interested in.:thumbsup2

I was thinking of getting a Deluxe AP too. On Mousesavers it says that some Costco stores in Southern California are selling Deluxe AP vouchers for the regular price of $269, but you also get a $50 Disney gift card with it. You don't have to be a resident of Southern California to buy the voucher or exchange it for the Annual Pass, which is nice. The only stipulation is that you have to exchange the voucher for an annual pass by 5/31/09.

Maybe one of our "local" friends would buy them for us if we send them the money?

Hhmmmm... i just read on a Hojo thread ... that there are not microwaves in all rooms..:confused3

Do the rooms we are staying in have microwaves?

If I wanted to get one for the room, does anyone know if you can request one, if so, how much is that a day extra?

Thanks for the info.

Yep, our rooms will have microwaves. (We're staying in "deluxe" level rooms, all of which come with a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker.)

Thank You for helping me with this information. I appreciate it.:goodvibes

If I was single, and you were a dude, I'd marry you!:rotfl:

But the reality is, if I didn't cook, clean, do dishes, laundry, etc, for a few days.......then I'd have to face a sink overflowing with dirty dishes, a laundry room overflowing with dirty clothes, a floor covered in leaves and dirt, boys running around NAKED because they have no clean clothes to wear, a dog starving to death, garbage cans overflowing with take out and fast food containers, and well, you get the picture.

That's why I hate getting really sick or injured. I know what I'm going to have to face when I get better.....and endless array of "mom" chores.

I totally understand Capri. In fact, I know this would happen at my house because I have tried it before!! Not because I was sick but just the whole...working 60 hours a week and being in grad school but for the old school stereotypical reasons my beloved hubby expects that housework, cooking, kid stuff is "woman's work". Sometimes it REALLY gets to me and I have just stopped for a few days but I just end up stepping over piles of laundry and hearing the kids tell me there are no forks to eat with. Sometimes I just don't understand!!

He has gotten better over the years but I swear sometimes I wonder how he would function without me.

Glad your hand is feeling better!!

Ok, girls, I need advice. Now, this is probably not going to sound like a huge dilemma, but for some reason I am stressing over it.

As some of you know, I am a DVC member, and took my Mom last November to WDW for our first trip. It was fun--but also somewhat stressful because of some of her health issues and we didn't get to do everything we had planned. So, I had scheduled a solo trip at the end of March into the first week of April to attend the Epcot Flower & Garden Show. I plan to stay at the Boardwalk. But now I am feeling SOOOOO guilty. It doesn't help that while I am in WDW my birthday will occur and she said something like "I don't want you to be alone for your birthday . . . . " But frankly, I could do with some "me" time alone--KWIM?

Help! I hope this doesn't come off as too selfish . . . . I need to make plane reservations soon if I am going to go and/or I need to cancel the DVC reservation as I would need to bank the points by the end of the month so I wouldn't lose them. I am just so conflicted--I want to go, but don't want to go and feel guilty the whole time.

I don't think there is anything wrong with a solo trip. This is why I'm so excited about the ladies only trip. My birthday is a week after the trip and this will be my birthday present!! Disney is my favorite thing (aside from my family of course) so why not do what I love on my birthday??

Was she commenting about you being alone because she wants to go? Or was she genuinely concerned about you being alone? If its the latter, maybe just explaining that you're excited to be in the place you love for your birthday, or that you've never gone alone (if you haven't) and your really excited to see how different it is on your own??

Either way, sounds like fun and you deserve it!!

Welllllll, our winterwonderland is very.......wintery......cold......and deep. Did you see how much snow Spokane got in the month of December? 61.5 INCHES!!! That's over 5 feet of snow!!!!!

Our kids are loving it of course. They go out sledding for several hours everyday. Good thing Santa left them a couple of new sleds.:santa:

It's so treacherous, and yet so pretty at the same time. I took this picture of some tree branches outside our window when I got up this morning because I thought it looked pretty. I must be sick! Taking pics of all this crummy snow?!?! I must have somekind of snow sickness! I think I'm going crazy! If I start chanting on here in wierd tongues, send help!:crazy2:

Did you read this article? A poor lady got killed because she was buried by snow sliding off her roof while she was out shoveling her walk. So sad.:sad1:

Oh good! I'm so glad it's not too late. Sounds like fun to me!:cool1:

What a beautiful picture!! I miss snow!!

Stacielee and Dangermouse, where are you? I know there was a thread about Disney ringtones and now I can't find it. I have a new phone and I NEED (yes, really NEED) my Disneyland turnstile entry ringtone!!!!!!!

As for the WDW trip--it's a combination of things. When I bought DVC she said "now don't feel like you have to take me every trip"--but of course I took her on the first trip. But it really was a purchase designed to get me away from the everyday work stress and being with my Mom is a different kind of stress. I hear you Fairykin, about "what if this is the last trip?" etc. but if I were to think that then I would never go anywhere without my Mom. And I do need time away. I just don't know.

Cheryl,
Don't feel guilty for time spent alone. Whether you are a parent, or helping care for a parent, you need time as a regular human being. Not so and so's parent and not so and so's daughter, but just as Cheryl. And, I'd either (a) just tell your mom you need some time alone and that you'd love to celebrate with her before you go or after you get back or (b) fib and tell her you'll be meeting up with someone from DIS on your b-day. BUT, either way, don't cancel your trip and don't feel obligated to take your mom for every vacation. You just got back from a big one with her, it's not like you don't get to do anything with her!
Now, if you want to feel obligated to take someone, there's always me! Hee hee! :lmao:

On a completely other note, I'm going to be at DLR on Sunday with Zoe and my friend Toni and her DD....anyone going and want to meet up? I'll have my cel phone with me, just call!

Hey--I'm planning at being on DLR on Sunday too--there's a mini-meet with Pixiewings71, YellowMickeyPonchos and Mary Jo--it's on another thread. I'll PM you my cell. And thanks for the words of advice to everyone.

So Heather and I are going to order our t-shirts from Zazzle and I am eyeing the ringer style but it has color on the cuffs and collar - what do you think? Ok or no?

Sarah

So Heather and I just went through all 311 fonts on Zazzle and cannot find an exact match to the one on the front page. So not happy! What is up! Any word from the lady who originally designed it?

Sarah

Beth - I wanted to let you know (and everyone know) that myself and Cathy should be able to attend the pizza party on Thursday night. Sounds like a great way to kick things off!:thumbsup2
OKay, I'll add you both. I'm looking forward to that as much as the rides!! I love social time. Are y'all gonna do the tote exchange too? :yay:

But frankly, I could do with some "me" time alone--KWIM?
Well, you've already received lots of good advice, but I think you should go and have some guilt free fun. Seriously Cheryl, you deserve it after the way you take care of not only your mom, but everyone around you.

Holy crap! I did not know WA got so much snow!!! :scared1: Maybe I don't want to move there after all. LOL
That pic is lovely though. I love it when it sits on the trees like that.

Please sign up Heather (Lilycat) for the scavenger hunt! Thank you!

Sarah
Will do! :thumbsup2

Hmmmm, I saw it less then a week ago. Let me look and see what I can find. Hang on...
ETA: Ugh. Never mind. I was reading that as image, not font! See below for my post on the font.

Hey Beth, what where the options for food on the WIWF tour?

Thanks!
SArah

Hey Sarah,
Here is the link for the Tink tee on Zazzle.

http://www.zazzle.com/collections/d...2&dsny_ctgy1=196585245274592189&paging_page=5

I will also add this to the front page for anyone else wanting to order it. The lady who designed the tees just got back to me today and she didn't know what color font she used but the style is called Wendy Medium. I'll add that info to the front as well.

Ok, now for the tour. It was all sandwiches. I can't recall exactly, ham, turkey, tuna, and a veggie plate. You can choose chips or fruit and you also can choose a drink and you get 2 cookies.

I have a pic of the food Ruben and I got, the turkey. It was simple, but good and filling.

I must be absolutely blind because I cannot seem to find Wendy Medium. Can you find it for me? Thank you!
