Ok you guys are killing me with all the Vegas talk. I would LOVE to go as I said I have only been that once and of course I did my famous fall and ended up in the ER for half my trip. I have YET to go back since 97 and then I had to cancel my trip in 04 because of dh getting deployed so I REALLY want to go but I just can't make it this year as much as I would LOVE to cuz it is just TOO much with all these other trips plus swim team in summer.

So I will just have to be jealous of you all and live vicariously through your trip!!

I tell you with both my girls out all week they have been driving me UP the wall. My little one goes back to school tomorrow thank GOD!! And I have to keep my middle one out one more day but hopefully by Monday they will ALL finally be back to school. And then my oldest has to work tomorrow night so RIGHT in the middle of trick or treating dh will have to go pick her up from work. BLEH! But so be it.

You guys are lucky that they let your kids still dress up. That is a NO go here in CA!! They won't let you do ANYTHING related to halloween at all and don't even get me started on that. NO dressing up no halloween parties. GRRRR. In fact my kids aren't allowed ANY holiday parties and they can't even bring cupcakes to school for birthdays anymore. This state I tell ya. If Disneyland wasn't here I would move! Sheesh.

Anywho I am off to deal with the muchkins for another day! Wish me luck! I need it! ;)

I have very few Disney clothes for that reason. They run really small!!

Isn't that the truth!

I just got back from a mini-trip to Vegas to visit my mom, and now I get to catch up on all I missed while I was gone!

We don't have school tomorrow either.
But my kids are left for their dads house today.
This will be my first Halloween in 12 years that I have not
been trick or treating!! :sad2: :sad1:

hmm...what to do...what to do....
Awww, I'm sorry. You'll have to do something for sure. Staying home would be too depressing. A party maybe? Or just dinner out? :confused3

I hate how they take all the fun out of......well, EVERYTHING for kids these days. When did we as a society become so offended by every little thing? That's why they make all those changes, because someone somewhere complained. Some people are such sticks in the mud!

Speaking of Halloween, I am kind of dreading going to the kids parties today. Yesterday walking home from school, there was a mom and two boys in front of us. One of the boys is in Lindsey's class.
They got to their car and were getting in, when the boy turned to Lindsey and made a really mean face. You know how kids do. Anyway, she being a kid too, made one back.

So of course, the mom turns just in time to see Lindsey making the face. We all kept walking. It was me and the 3 girls. Then I hear the mom say in a really loud, nasty voice, "Excuse me, that was really rude!"

Now at first I thought surely she must be talking to her kid. Because no one better dare talk to my kid in such a tone. Especially when her kid started it. So I kept walking. Nothing more was said from the mom.
But after a few steps, I thought about it and wondered if that had been meant for Lindsey.

Noelle and Hannah had been walking behind me and Lindsey, and they had a better view of the mom, so I asked Noelle if the mom had been talking to her kid when she said that, or if she'd directed that comment to Lindsey. She said it looked like she was talking to Lindsey.

WTH??? So now, I'm kind of ticked off. I talked to Lindsey about it and I explained to her how that behavior was immature and unappropriate, EVEN IF the other kid did it first. But now I have to go to this party where the mom will probably be with her kid, and have her thinking my daughter started it and is just some little brat, and I'm just one of those parents who doesn't do crap about it. Yay, won't THAT be fun.

Sorry. I just had to rant about that! :rotfl:

Welcome back! I wondered where you'd run off to. LOL How was the trip? I hope you had fun! It's been warm here lately. Much warmer then it should be this time of year.

So my trip got a kink in it after booking March 2- 8th. I got a call from Jennifer at Hojo's :( Seems there is no entertainment rate for the Wednesday and the group rate does not start until Thursday. So I have to pay full rack rate on Wednesday. Jennifer felt bad she had to call me and left a message to call her. So then it cost me long distant charges to find out the price is full rack rate. Of course when you raise the rate you also raise the taxes. But I was really nice to Jennifer because she was just the messenger. Guess she wondered why I was not complaining loudly rofl. But this is a group event I am choosing to come for a few extra days. And I will not ruin this great deal we could have for years :)

I joked I think I am the only Canadian going in this group any other hidden special rates because our dollar in taking a nose dive :)

So I am stuck. Not like I can easily pick up and move out for one day. I wonder why Wednesdays are so expensive. I would love to stay the full time but I have to be fair to my son who is helping me on this trip with the luggage and dealing with my scooter. Yes it would be cheaper to go Thursday to Monday. But it is his first trip so I need to spend some days with him.

On the up side out dollar gained 5 cents :) Now if it could just get a little higher the rate change will not be so bad :)

Ruth, there wasn't any discounts at all? I know besides the ET rate, they have a DIS rate and an AP holder rate.

I live in SouthernCalifornia and my DD still has a Halloween parade and a party in her class :confused3. They also have parties around every holiday except they name it something different. For Christmas, it's a winter party and for Easter it's a spring party.

At my sons school, they can't dress up for Halloween, but that is the principles decision (they have a new principle this year), but he's in Jr. High. I know our High School kids are also able to dress up as long as it's not to vulger or sexy.

Sorry where you live is so boring  .

Good morning

I'm very happy to say that my coughing has been at a minimum this morning. I took my mucinex right when I got up and I've been okay so far. :goodvibes Hoping this means the end of it!

Well I just checked maybe I am getting $10.00 off what is the Dis rate. I am paying 119 for a Wednesday for 2 people.

BETH!

I'm thinking about going to the Disney Soda Shoppe in Hollywood on Saturday or Sunday for my birthday. I believe you went this past summer, right? How is it? Do they serve regular food in addition to those yummy desserts?

Thanks!

The elementry school my DD went to still dresses up for Halloween. But they call it a Character parade and you bring a book with your character.

DD is not in secondary school (7-12) and for the first time since the school opened they will be allowed to wear costumes. She is pretty excited about that.

Hey Ladies. Keeping up with the new thread. Boy you guys are chatty. You only have 225 pages left before we need to start again. lol

I could use a few extra crossed-fingers, if anyone has the time. I did a prelim phone interview earlier today. For a term contract with a travel agency, Nov - Mar.

I've got a small hitch. It has a 4 week training course that overlaps my WDW trip. Hopefully Kevin (the boss) won't knock me off the list because of my trip. It's 1 week in class, 1 week in Punta Cana and 2 weeks in class again. I'd love back to back trips!

Keep on chatting, I love reading it all. I'm just waiting on reading Beth's version of the Dream Team stalking. Guessing it will be in her trip report or I totally missed it in the old thread.

Have a great day!

You should get 15% off rack rate when you mention that you are a disboards member.

Or if by any chance you have an AP, they have a 20% discount for AP holders.

The best thing is that with HoJo they add Entertainment days regularly. So even though your day isn't one now, it "might could" (marvelous phrase I picked up when I lived in SC, seems to give a depth of meaning that "might" and "could" don't do on their own) become one later and they'll let you switch it over.

Oh no you can not miss you Bday at Disney it is the big getting over the hil one isn't it :lovestruc . So fingers crossed sounds like an awesome job :)

Beth that sucks about what that little brat AND his mom did! If I were you I would have just HAD to say something that she would have overheard but that is me LOL. Something along the lines of how we don't act like "SOME" people and just because he did it FIRST we won't repeat it or something like that. Make sure she knows that HER little darling started it! Good luck at the party and find a way to give her a jab. I know you wanna! ;)

And man it just must be our sucky nor cal schools. Our maybe it is just MY sucky school. I know we have a large russian community and they don't believe in halloween and if the school was to celebrate then they would not send the kids to school and god forbid the school lose any of those precious tax dollars so they just choose not to celebrate. And as far as the goodies our governor instituted a new law that you could not have any treats in the classrooms anymore because of some weird new thing about it not being regulated or some crap. So if you wanted to have celery sticks and ranch dressing I guess it would be cool but no cookies, candy etc. Makes for kind of a dull day. I know some of the teachers kind of sneak stuff here and there but I know it depends on the teacher. Since both my kids are out this week for halloween I don't know how it is going to go but my little ones teacher is a bit more lenient then the middle one.

Like I said don't even get me started. I got so mad when dh was deployed and my step daughter couldn't even sing dashing through the snow which has not one religious word in it but yet they had to learn all about the karan (or however you spell it and kwanza) and all these other things. I mean don't get me wrong I am ALL for learning about other cultures but don't totally obliterate MY beliefs. SHEESH!

Ok I better get off my soapbox before I start a debate! ;)

I guess my daughter's school didn't get that memo from the governor ;). They have all kinds of food items during parties. Some healthy and some not. That's too bad that your kids school is so strict because so much is required of kids these days and they deserve a break and some treats every once in awhile :thumbsup2 .

It's spelled Qu'ran or Koran ;) . My kids schools don't touch the religion subject in school unless it has to do with what they are learning in History and so far they have learned about most religions from Christianity to Islam to Budhism and everything in between. It just sounds like your school district is confused on how things should be done.

I know we had a GREAT school that I loved and then we had all these cutbacks and they closed about 10 schools a few years back. So they crowded about 4 different elementaries into 1 school. My youngest was just entering kindergarten and my 2nd was going into first and I had one in jr high. I didn't want to take a chance with open enrollment because I was told, quite rudely, that I was NOT guaranteed that the little ones would get into the same school and I didn't want them at different ones. Especially being so young and with the little one only going half day etc. This was ALSO right when dh was deployed etc and it was just TOO much for me at the time.

There are some times when I wish I would have just tried to open enroll them because there are a LOT of things I don't like about this school including the principal. My middle daughter has a jehovah's witness boy in her class for the 3rd year and because he does not celebrate ANY holidays the other kids are not even allowed to make mother's or father's day gifts even because HE doesn't believe in it. I mean COME ON! It is just over the top to me. 20 other kids can't do something because ONE kid doesn't believe in something. I mean this is just ridiculous to me.

I have always said if you don't choose to believe in something or celebrate something that is fine but I don't see why everyone else has to suffer because of ONE person's beliefs. I don't know I just don't get it. And you are right it is NOT just you guys. I know there are some other schools here that DO celebrate stuff it just seems like our school is over the top. But boy they are sure right there with their hands out. It seems like every other day they are sending some fund raiser home. THey have no aversion to THAT!

I think my beliefs are against FUND RAISING! :snooty:

Cristabel!!! I don't think this will help you with your diet!!! Do I sound like an old mom saying that?? Here's a link to the Soda Fountain Menu, although I'm not sure how current it is.

They serve regular food. Here is a link to their site with a menu: http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/el_capitan/soda_fountain/main.html

But we went for the ice cream. I got the pin traders sundae and the rest of the group shared the Mickey's Masterpiece which has something obscene like 8 scoops of ice cream, chocolate, caramel, nuts, and a whole can of whip cream. It was huge.

Good to see ya!! My finger and toes are crossed for you!! :wizard: And I'll be posting the Dream Team drama in my TR. Unless Callie, Cheryl and Stacie think I shouldn't.
Hmmm, you might have to take that up with them. ;)

Good news! I didn't even run into her. She might not have been there. I didn't get a great look at her so who knows. The parade was cute. Such great costumes out there!

That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I'd be on the phone to everyone and their mother to get that changed. If he chooses not to celebrate that's fine. Then HE needs to be the one to leave on days when they have activities or parties planned.

Before I got married, I was an assistant at a daycare, and we had a kid like that. His mom would just ask us to tell her when the parties were, when we were making Christmas cards, etc. and she would keep him home or pick him up early.
Since when does everyone else have to bend for one person??

Oh and don't even get me started on fund raising. LOL I won't do it. No way, no how. I will be happy to write a nice check to donate to the school. But I will not go and ask neighbors, friends, coworkers, etc. to buy over-priced dollar store junk. We did that one year and some of the stuff even arrived broken! I was so embarrassed. :sad2:
