Melody - It was so much fun meeting you and you are just as sweet and kind in person as you are online! Thank you for the yummy goody! I hope you had fun with your husband and a safe drive home!

Sarah - Are you off work yet? I really hope so! I honestly don't know how you do it! You must be exhausted! Hoping your sweet baby is feeling better and wishing good health to all of you as you get ready to come to DL!!!

Looks like I may be having a friend join us on the trip as well. I get together once a month with friends from travel school and we were talking about the fun we had on our school trips (like going to Hawaii or on a cruise with 40 of your best friends) and I mentioned the Diva trip. She said she wanted to go with me and I said that would be great! She won't know until after the first of the year if she can get the time off work for sure (she works for TSA). She can be my "adopted" daughter for the trip.

I'm thinking about checking out this MouseAdventure thing - don't really know anything about it but we will be there that day.

Good night everyone!

Hi everyone!

Back from D23!!:dance3:

I have only been able to read back a little but I wanted to stop by and say that I HAD THE BEST TIME AT D23!!! I loved every minute of it (but I can be a bit excitable at times;) ) It was just so much fun! :cool1: I know that you all have already heard all of the announcements and who we saw...Johnny Depp! Screamed like a teenager! :scared1:

And I’ll be going back to DL on Sat. for the Miss Sarah meet! Wow…I am kind of embarrassed to say this but I’ve been to DL 4 out of the last 5 weekends.

My sister thinks I need an intervention but what does she know, right? :upsidedow

Wow! Vicki, it sounds like you had a great time and I am so glad for you. It was really great to meet you too! I hope that I will get to see you in October. No intervention necessary. You are totally living my dream life:)

I have worked way too hard and waited way too long for this trip and to spend some good quality time with my little ones and dh to have it ruined by puke!

Sarah

Oh dear Sarah! We have had illness on every darn Disney trip. Just know that even if you have it some of the time, it won't ruin the entire trip, but you are not going to get it!

I just heard Patrick Swayze died. So sad.

Very Sad.

Morning all my diva friends!

To all those that attended the D23 I am so glad that you had fun! It sounds like it was just amazing and I am so jealous of you all! I wish I could have gone. Glad that you all went though and were able to give us an update!

Also sounds like you guys had a fun time at the birthday bash on Friday!!

I so envy those of you that live close and can get together so often! Also to be able to go to the parks just to shop or whatever!! Ahh to dream! ;)

Sara I will be praying for you guys and thinking all the good thoughts and pixie dust that your trip is awesome! You SO deserve it! I agree with the others that I don't know HOW you do it working so many hours. I couldn't even work a NORMAL 8 hour day anymore with all my stupid health issues much less as many hours as you work! I REALLY all goes well for you and take LOTS of pics for us! I really want you to have a good time and only wish that you were going in Oct so I could see you again too!

As for me I am off to mail my package today! Then it is off to get the old oil changed and to do a little window shopping at the mall while I wait. I purposely picked an oil place that is near the mall so I have "something" to do while I wait. ;)

Then mom and I are going to meet at La Bou for lunch. Then tonight is soccer practice.

Don't think I've got anything going on tomorrow except lovely housework and then Thur Lynn gets her first paycheck so she wants me to take her to the bank to open up an acct and then more soccer practice and Fri night we have to run to Sam's. So just a boring week of chores! The girls got their hair cut last night finally and they looked really cute today so I hope their pics turn out good! They both picked really cute outfits! :) NOT looking forward to having to CLEAN this weekend but it is probably a good excuse to get this house whipped in to shape and not sure if we will try to attempt to go to HP or not. The girls won't be done at their slumber party till 10 on Sunday and I REALLY wanted to go to church since I haven't been in FOREVER since I've been sick but church starts at 9:30 and I don't want to pick them up early from the party cuz I'm sure they will be sleeping in or whatever (if they even sleep at all LOL). And then Lynn has to work at 1 and the movie starts at 2 so I don't know if logistically it will work out. Who knows.

I am REALLY excited though for my friend to get here next Thurs. We are going to take her out to dinner after we pick her up from the airport and then Fri they are having a big get together for everyone that is arriving and then Sat is the party. Not sure if anything is happening Sunday but if not then we will do something by ourselves with Dorene (my friend) and then she is also here on that Monday so probably just she and I will go shopping or something and then she leaves on the 29th. So I am REALLY excited! Not only to get to see her but all of my relatives that I hardly ever get to see!

Anyway that's bout it for me! Hope everyone has a GREAT day! :)

I have posted a few times. This will be my first Divas trip!!!! I am so excited to get away by myself! I have talked my self into and out of this trip several times! Should I fly into Orange County or LAX? How do I get from the airport to the HOJO? I still need an entertainment card for the HOJO discount? Have already booked the hotel room at the HOJO though. I have a friend that wants to come, but not sure yet. If she doesn't come, can I offer up for roommates? When do I need to sign up for group activites/meals? I am coming in from Columbus, Ohio. So, I am thinking of coming in the night before. What is the first day usually like? Where is the best place to get my ticket for the parks at? I have been to Disneyland when I was really little and don't remember it at all. I have been to Disneyworld lots and can get around there pretty well. I am just naturally a planner and need to start figuring this out. Once I book the flight I can't back out!

Thanks for all the info. I just told Ruben about the price you paid and he agreed what a great deal that was! So tempting. I'm going to take a peek at the Carnival website later on just for fun.

I'd never try that water slide. I'd probably drown since I can't swim. :scared1: :rotfl2:

I think cruises are so worth it. I figure what we paid is like paying $100 per night for the room so everything else is free. The entertainment, the food and oh man is there alot of food. 24 hours a day! That's pretty much what you do is eat, eat, eat.popcorn:::rotfl: We like to have dinner in the dinning room and do the buffet for breakfast and lunch. Plus they have 24 hour pizza and ice cream. The food in the dinning room is fancy but you can order all you want. There's even lobster on formal night (all you can eat).

Hi Princessduck!!

Welcome!!!! I can't seem to remember, but is your name Daisy? I'm one of the oldest ones here, so count that as my memory block. If not Daisy, then I have you mixed up with someone else.:rolleyes1

Anywhos, be sure to check out the front page thoroughly, and send a picture of you to Beth/MommaU4. She is our faithful ringleader who started this whole adventure for us about 3 years ago!:grouphug:

It's fun to have another East Coast member with us. Us Westcoasters love to show you all our backyard, that we call Disneyland. :goodvibes

If I were you, try for Orange County Airport first. Or even Long Beach on Jet Blue. They are closer to DL. But usually the rates are better from LAX. Just keep your eyes open!! There are always official DL shuttles that go directly to DL and all of the hotels from LAX and Orange County (John Wayne) every 30 minutes or so. From Long Beach you need one like Super Shuttle or the like. When you find out which flight you are on, we will help you more on that decision.

Don't be buying any tickets yet. Usually doing the time of year we are going, DL will have some kind of promotion. So be patient.

Hope this helps a little.

Melody:flower3:

You are correct! I am Daisy....hence the princessduck. I felt that she deserved the title of princess!

It looks like I can get into Orange county for $336 right now. I am leaning towards southwest because there are no baggage costs. Just makes things easier. I am thinking of flying in the night before and staying at DVC....anybody else want to join me for one night. I have a few points to play with. I could then transfer over to the HOJO the next day? I really wanted to try the HOJO out since everyone will be there and the DVC points are pretty high there. I would rather save them to use for more family vacations.

I have not been posting much on here because you guys seem pretty familiar with each other and the thread tends to go fast.

Hubby says that I should definately go and have fun and that I deserve to get away by myself. I think that it is just the mommy guilt for leaving for a week.

I will double check all the flights and prices in a few, my 3 year old wants to play Wii (which means that I play and he watches). I will let you know what happens with the flight and will hold off on the tickets. I just didn't want to miss a deal if there was a good one now.

Thanks so much!

Well, talk yourself in to it and then keep it there. lol Good to see you posting again. Don't worry about the thread moving fast or everyone knowing each other. Truthfully, the best way to get to know everyone is to jump in and post. Do you have a pic you don't mind posting? If so, send it to me and I will add you to the front page list of Divas going on the trip. :thumbsup2

Should I fly into Orange County or LAX? How do I get from the airport to the HOJO?
This part I cannot really help you with. I don't fly in, we drive, but there are several on here who can offer advice on shuttles and such. I see Melody has already offered some in fact.

I still need an entertainment card for the HOJO discount?
Yes, to get the ET rate you need to show your ET card from one of the Entertainment Books. You can order those online for any area, but if you buy the one for your area you'll have all sorts of coupons to use. OR if you do end up with a roommate who already has a card you are all set. You only need to show one card per room.

Have already booked the hotel room at the HOJO though. I have a friend that wants to come, but not sure yet. If she doesn't come, can I offer up for roommates?
Sure, there is a list on the front page of roommates. Many people are willing to go three to a room, so you can find someone you click with and just ask.

When do I need to sign up for group activites/meals?
Not just yet. Don't worry, you will know when sign ups start. I'll change the title and it will be mentioned many times repeatedly. And all the lists will appear on the front page for confirmation. It's still a bit early though. I've found from past experience if you start sign ups too soon, too many changes are made, thus leading to confusion and a need to constantly change the lists. lol Take a peek at the schedule so far, think of what you'd like to do and then when it's time, you'll already know what you want to sign up for.

I am coming in from Columbus, Ohio. So, I am thinking of coming in the night before. What is the first day usually like?
I might be coming in the day before too. Not sure yet. The first day is pretty laid back. Everyone is arriving at different times. We'll plan on casual things like a counter service meal so those who are already in the parks can meet up if they want. Then that night is when the fun begins with the Meet and Greet party to officially kick off the trip. :cool1:

Where is the best place to get my ticket for the parks at?
As Melody said, don't book yet. As it gets closer there might be specials that you can book online directly through Disney.

I have been to Disneyland when I was really little and don't remember it at all.
Well, you are in for a treat! So much has changed anyway and is changing. I just wish Fantasmic was going to be playing during our trip. That's a bummer.

I have been to Disneyworld lots and can get around there pretty well. I am just naturally a planner and need to start figuring this out. Once I book the flight I can't back out!
Well, better book the flight asap so you cannot back out. ;) Your husband is encouraging you so go for it. And don't let the mommy guilt get to you. We all go through that to some degree, but honestly you will come home feeling so refreshed and ready to be "mommy and wife" again. We all need a break for ourselves now and then.

Just a quick post to give you this link to some Disney eye candy. http://anythingspossimpable.wordpress.com/2009/07/21/121/

I found it on another board, and knew my diva friends would appreciate it.

Oh, and I call dibs on #1!!

That's okay, I'll take #4, Will Turner.

Hi Daisy! At least if you buy on Southwest, you can cancel and save the credit for later. I've done that several times. And if the prices drop after you book, or a Ding fare comes up, you can re-book at the lower price and save that credit for later too. They can be used up to a year after your original booking date.

OT, what Wii game do you play?

:scared1: Wow!! Tarzan looks like he might have a little something extra tucked away ;) I'm going to have to call #10 - from Lilo and Stitch. Love his tattoo!

Daisy, I so undertand the mommy guilt! Last March was my first trip by myself and it was a week at Disneyland (the Ladies Only Trip!). I felt guilty and I talked myself into and out of the trip about five million times - ask Beth! My husband finally convinced me that I should go..... and I'm glad I did. I had a good time and it was a totally different experience than when I go with my family - not better or worse, just totally different. Both kinds of trips are worth it :thumbsup2

It is a bit hard to keep up with this thread sometimes, but anything important about the trip will be posted on the front page, so that makes it easier and less intimidating. Just jump in when you have something to say or ask :flower3:

That's pretty much what you do is eat, eat, eat.popcorn:::rotfl: We like to have dinner in the dinning room and do the buffet for breakfast and lunch. Plus they have 24 hour pizza and ice cream.
Well, I'm liking that!! :lmao: Do you ever feel sea sick? :confused3

Nice. :smokin:
Although some of them seem a tad uhhhhhhhhh feminine shall we say. :rotfl: I'll take Aladdin though. I've always liked him.

Morning ladies!! Well, almost afternoon I guess. Hope you are all having a good day so far. :hippie:

At least five million. :rolleyes1

Thanks so much for all the info and encouragement. I will try to find a photo that can be put up on the front page. I am leaning towards southwest for the exact reasons mentioned! Will probably book in a few when I can get my credit card. Donovan fell asleep on me before we could even play Wii. He likes to do Mario Kart, Littlest Pet shop was being asked for today, and Monster Trucks. He is 3 and had morning preschool.
I am in the middle of getting details together for our December trip to Orlando. That has probably prompted the sudden need for planning this trip also. We are doing a 3 night cruise and 5 nights at Disney! The kids can't wait to get on the "Mickey Boat."

Hi Daisy! Good to meet you. I haven't posted much lately, either. Been pretty busy and frankly am kind of a downer lately. Always feel free to PM anyone if you're getting lost on the thread. It's hard to keep up even if you're a Diva "vet". And, we have so many more new people this time and last time, which is great.
I'm a big believer that Mommies having Mommy alone time makes you better Mommies. Plus, I think it sends a positive message that (a) Daddy or Grandma or Friend can take good care of you too, and (b) that it's okay to take care of yourself and your needs....I think too often we send the message that our lives are completely subsumed in their lives.
Alot of us are on Facebook, too...so always check that out.

Afternoon all! I am back from my day! My package is mailed! Priority even! It was only 5 cents more than standard so what the heck! LOL. My person should be getting it in like 2 days I think! Plus I got my oil changed and even got the girls some new tights as they seem to go threw them like toilet paper sheesh! They both were wearing them today for school pics and it seems they can only wear them about twice before they get holes in them. (rolls eyes!) Luckily Penneys had a buy one get one half off deal. So hopefully they are set for a bit! Then I met mom at La Bou for some chinese chicken salad. YUM!

Daisy it is nice to meet you and I look forward to meeting you on the trip!! :) You will LOVE it and all the Divas. Everyone is so nice! Last year was my mom and I's first trip and we had the best time and are very excited to go again this year! I can't wait to meet all our NEW divas!

All these trips and cruises everyone is talking about sound like so much fun! Other than Oct and the ladies trip I don't have anything else concrete planned but I have lots that I "want" to do. We still hope to do our big road trip this summer but it is all hinging on whether or not Shane is able to switch jobs by then and if he is able to get the time off so that is totally up in the air but something that is a little more possible is my mom has 2 weeks deposited in her timeshare that we have NO idea how they got there.

We deposited 2 weeks in 2008 for our DW trip but we USED them! So I personally think it is a mistake but nonetheless she needs to use these 2 weeks or she will lose them!

So we are despartely trying to think of somewhere we can go. She and my dad are going to Ixtapa with friends in Dec and then they are going to their place in Puerto Vallarta in Feb so I doubt Mexico is a possibility although I haven't been since 2005 and the girls have NEVER been but we keep talking about maybe Florida because SW is offering 99 1 way fares out of Sac. That is super cheap. BUT I don't know if they will last after March which is all they are offering right now. But IF by chance they do we are thinking about maybe going in May sometime and NOT going to DW but rather to the beach, the space center and probably 1 day at Universal and some other stuff. I know it would be hard to go ALL the way to Orlando and NOT go to DW BUT we were JUST there in Nov and since nothing is really different I would like to wait and go back after all the changes. And honestly if we could go somewhere ELSE for cheap we would but that is the only place that has super cheap airfare right now.

SOOOO it is something we are thinking about but it is all up in the air right now.

Anyway hope everyone has a good rest of the day and I am glad I have my whole list of "to do" stuff done! WHEW! ;)

Welcome Daisy! This is my first Diva trip too and I can't wait! These ladies are very sweet and it doesn't take long to get to know them so jump right in to the discussions. I talk about them all to my husband like I've known them forever which he finds a little weird:)

I agree with your hubby, you (and all Moms) deserve a break, I have a huge list of things to do that I always get out-voted on when we go as a family.
