Just here to ask for prayers. My grandpa had a seizure this morning and is in the hospital. My mom is with him now and says he's looking great but they still don't know anything. I hate that about the medical practice, it takes FOREVER to get any answer! I really think this is about his weak heart and he will be needing surgery very soon.

So today we had some errands to do. I have an important class to attend this week and I have to wear civilian clothing. Business casual actually. I never felt so weird as I did today when I was looking at clothing not to mention shoes. I have been so used to wearing one of two uniforms every day I go to work that I feel like I was shopping for the first day of school for me. I hope I did alright but I know when I'm retired from the Air Force I'm going to need some help (something like What Not to Wear, or a personal shopper of sorts) when I have to wear business clothing on a daily basis.

I also booked my PS for my birthday trip. It makes the trip feel that much closer. I have a month to make my mind up on Fantasmic seating. I think I'm going to but I still have time before I can reserve.

Cheryl. My birthday is Dec 18th. I would love the Divas help with clothes shopping. I told Josh today that I just feel that I don't fit in that environment. I've never experienced this before. I enlisted in the Air Force when I was 17. So I went from high school where I was a jeans and t-shirt to an adult who wears the same when I'm not on duty.

Steph... build a wardrobe for work meetings around black, white and the a contrast color that you like, it could be red, yellow, kelly green

Don't get caught up in lots of different colors.. Select a theme you can mix and match and build upon.

If you don't feel comfortable in the high heels.. buy a nice pair of boots, black with low heel. These will go nicely with alot of things. Also get a pair of pumps, and a simple nice bag. If you don't feel comfortable with color in your clothes, then select a purse that is a solid color, metalic leathers are good for fall and winter.

A pair of black pants, a white dress shirt and a black cardigan sweater look sharp.

For make up.. if you don't like wearing alot of make up.. just a touch of waterproof mascara and red lipstick looks very nice.

Remember that You are Beautiful, Wonderful and Intelligent. Smile, like You know It! That's the Best thing you can put on.

Dawn you are so sweet to put all of that together for me. I told Josh that tomorrow is going to be like Bambi's first steps. I did get a pair of heels. I have a pair of dress black boots that I may have to wear instead. I haven't worn make up since my senior prom, I think. I can honestly say I have no idea how to put any on. All of this stuff coming to light now is just reminding me how soon my girls will be at this stage and how I want to be there for them and help where ever I can. Let's just say my mom and I didn't (still don't) have a great relationship so I never learned any of this stuff. I don't want that for my girls.

I feel so silly complaining about clothes shopping. I love shopping for my kids and Josh but avoid shopping for me a great deal.

Steph also get a good flat iron. When all else fails ie. bad hair day just flat iron and throw some product on your hair and your good to go. Get a good comb and you can back comb a little so your hair isn't flat to your head or a cool bumpit thing.

You will have it all figured out when the time comes.

oh yeah...and IMO wedges are easier to walk in than heels. They give you a little more balance.

Hi ladies!


I had lunch today with Amy and Jane. It was nice to see them both again. Especially Amy though because it's been longer since the last time I've seen her. Jane and I hung out for her b-day in July, and we did a dinner in August, but I hadn't seen Amy since last June!!
I just have to say she looks amazing. She's lost 75 pounds now and is my hero!! She's looking hot too, walking all over Town Square in her heels. I was in my comfy sandals.
Anyway, it was a nice lunch and then we did a bit of shopping afterward.


Speaking of which, good luck with your shopping Steph. I'm jealous you can look so good without make-up. I've worn it every day since I was about 15 or so. And congrats on making all the fun plans for your birthday trip!!

Stephanie--I understand where you're coming from re. the work clothes. Since I work out of my home office all the time, it's so weird getting dressed up now. My typical work attire is sweat pants and a tshirt. And make up?? Forget about it!

So I had my phone interview for a job today. The job sounded AMAZING. But quite difficult. If this 30 minute interview went ok, then I go in for a day of in person interviews to meet with all the managers, do business case studies, etc. I've got to get my little brain working again as I'm afraid it has turned to oatmeal these last few weeks with childcare, washing clothes in the bath and listening (but not comprehending) Swiss German all day.

Also, my German classes started today. My kids are still off on fall break until tomorrow, so unfortunately, I only made it to 30 minutes of the class. I convinced by DH to take a break and watch the kids for a short time so I could at least show up the first day.

Aahh that sounds like a fun time for the Vegas Girls! It's nice that you all can get together.

Steph.. ... don't be silly. If you don't feel comfortable in your clothes then it shows. So you have been used to wearing a uniform for years. Build a wardrobe that resembles a uniform. Just in another color theme.

Like if you go... black, white and say teal blue..

You could get a pair of black pants.. a black and white stripe top..with black boots and a teal bag.

Or a black skirt with a teal, black and white stripe blouse, with a black cardigan and the teal bag.

Black shift dress with a teal cardigan, black pumps

Black and white patterned skirt, black v neck long sleeve shirt and black tights with black boots.

Remember what you have and buy things that go together.

As for make up... Beth is right! You look great without make up. If you feel you must wear some.. keep it simple.. just mascara { always go waterproof} and a pretty lipstick for a pop of color.

I know I always want to wear that smokey eye look.. but ooooohh no it NeVaH works out for me.. i look like i have on too much eye make up..or my eyes will water then it's smudged.. so i guess that's just never gonna happen for me.

Get in the habit of wearing lipstick by putting it on at home... Then it will be come a habit and there is comfort within a habit.

Cristabel, I am so sorry to hear about your Grandpa. I hope he is doing better now. My prayers are with you and your family.

Steph, Take Dawn's advice. It is right on. As for makeup, I was going to suggest a simple makeover from Sephora or a department store. But you probably can't get to one very easily in time for this week. But someday if I were you, I'd do it. Then make sure you and Josh have a date that night, wear a simple black outfit and wow him!!! Nothing like that to put some spice in your married life!!! Believe me it works!!!

First off prayers to Cristabel's grandpa and family! Hope that he is better today!!

Jen sounds like a blast at Legoland. I have only been once to the CA one as well. We had fun but it is a little too young for my kids nowadays. I do enjoy seeing all the Lego buildings and stuff though. Can't wait to see your pics on FB!

Beth I am glad you had fun with Jane and Amy!! Sounds like a great day!!

Steph good luck with all the shopping. I used to be a paralegal and had to dress up for years but I quit working in the office world when I had my kids and even though I work for mom our office is REALLY laid back. I haven't gotten dressed up in YEARS. I wouldn't know what to do with myself LOL. The gals have given you GREAT advice though and I am sure you will do great!

Tracey look forward to seeing you soon!! We will be there Thursday but not till pretty late so doubt we will see anyone that day. Our plane doesn't even get in till close to 9 and by the time we get our bags and get to the hotel I have a feeling we are going to just crash. We will be at DL on Fri till about 5 and then hope to see everyone at the party Fri night!

I am off to work today and it is supposed to rain again. BLEH! Then tomorrow and wed will just be chores to get stuff done round here before we leave and then work on Thurs before we go!
