Good Morning Divas! This is my last day off before leaving to see you all. I have lots to do today. I should've had DH get the luggage down, but I didn't so now I have to get on the stepladder and haul things off the top shelf in the closet. I'm such a chicken even that makes me nervous!

I'm excited to actually pack!

I laugh at you and Beth because my mom has no problem leaving us for vacations with my dad. She deserves so I'm not really bothered by it and then she gets back we're actually happy to be around each other.
I guess you guys might feel that way when your kids are my sister's and my age. You'll be happy to see us go or go away yourselves. My parents get away twice a year. Once for their anniversary and then again in the fall.

I think it's harder when the kids are young. And I'm leaving Ruben too.
It'll be fine though. Just my thing to deal with.

Quick good morning to y'all! Oh, and for now, most of the rain is now gone from our trip.

Count me as another mama sad to leave her family behind. Ty is still at an age where he doesn't understand that when I'm gone for a day or more that I'm coming back eventually, kwim? Also, we've had two weeks of good behavior at school and I'm afraid that the change in routine will make him backslide as I have seen just how easily he is rattled by change, and this will be the longest I have been away from home since summer.

And, I know just how much energy it takes both Dave and me to keep up with Ty, so the idea that Dave is doing it alone for 6 days so that I can go makes me feel guilty.

But, once we are there it will all be good--although I tend to avoid calling home 'cause it makes me cry. Then again, just listening to the CD I made for last year's trip made me cry the other day too. It was the song "Welcome". The song has always gotten me a little misty eyed, but the lyrics struck a new chord with me.

There's a bond between us, nobody can explain

I'm another mom that is sad to be leaving her baby (not the older kids, just the baby LOL). I know I'm going to miss her terribly & I'm also afraid she'll have a hard time sleeping at night if I'm not there . But I'm sure she'll survive my absense for a few days.

AmyOkraSue- I'm also going to need my shirt ironed (if you don't mind ). Kerry is being nice & printing my transfer and bringing it to the Meet & Greet.

I can be a whiner too, just ask my mom, I'm really good at it.

I'm supposed to leave for a baby shower in 50 minutes, but I really don't want to go. I haven't even showered yet. This is my third baby shower so far this year. Lots of people having babies, as long as it's not me I'm OK with it. Then again, I am missing the main component to the whole baby making process, so it would be a miracle baby if I had one.

I'm so ready for a vacation.

Oh, we hit a new milestone in my house this week...Nathan is talking back! Today when I told him no more Mickey Mouse, he wagged his finger at me and told me emphatically, "Nathan says YES!!!" It's good to see him coming out of his shell...at least for now!

LOL! Yay for Nathan! But, uhhh, yeah, that will change to something like what I heard Ryan say to me last night when we were getting ready to go to bed:

Me: Ryan, did you turn off your Playstation?
Ryan: Yyyyyes mom.
Me: Did you turn off the TV too?
Ryan: Yyyyyyyeeeee eeeeeee sssssssssssssss (said with an eye roll)
Justin: Hey, you don't talk to your mom like that.
Ryan: But dad, she's SO annoying, asking me those questions all the time.
Me: (laughing) That's right. That's my job, and if you're annoyed, I'm doing it right.

Yep, Ryan is going to turn 11 in June, and I think the tween attitude has hit our household. Autism or not......IT'S HERE!

Im eager to see what you use them for.

Its been a very busy weekend so far. Worked late yesterday, had dinner with my family, then Taylor was in a show. She does choir and this weekend is their big broadway review show. I didn't get home till almost 11 last night. Then she had to be at school at 7:45 this morning. So I have already done the grocery shopping, cleaned out the fridge and freezer, and started laundry. Soon I will start packing.

Im getting my hair cut this afternoon. Its just too much and I need a good chunk of it cut off. Then we will have an early dinner, and back to the auditorium because Taylor has a 5pm curtain call. UGH! She's happy so its worth it.

I have tons of packing to get to, and lots of things to cross off my to do list today. Can't believe that its almost time for our trip. I am sooo needing it.

It's nice to see typical behavior sometimes isn't it!?! As our therapist said yesterday, "Nathan has arrived!" I'm not looking forward to the attitude down the road though. Ryan sounds like a really cool kid, back talk and all!

All of you talking about missing kids and hubbies, I am in the same boat. Only I am upset about leaving my little Spike. He follows me around, sleeps with me and when I get home from work, runs up meowing and I pick him up, kiss and hug him, ask him if he had a good day, on and on. Hey, I really love my kitty! And I am trying to talk DH into coming to my room Sunday night to spend the night (I figure we'll be done at NR by 7:30 ish). Then he would leave for work Mon morning. It would be about a two hour drive in rush hour morning traffic from DL to his office. He told me I was nuts, he was not coming and Spikey would survive just fine without me. Told me to buck up, be a big girl and just have fun with the Divas. So, that's what I will do.

As far as the pic, I like my FB pic, too. It's from Christmas at the Grand California hotel three years ago. I'll have Bree send both of ours to you Cristabel. She's coming home for dinner tonight, she can do it then.

I don't know if I mentioned it here or not, but our desktop died, and so now I'm restoring everything to my laptop. (We have Carbonite-It's saved me 3 times now!) It takes 2-3 weeks to restore everything though because I have so many pictures and music.

Ryan is a pretty cool kid.....most of the time.

One problem we've come across lately though is his lack of a few key social skills. He'll just come right out and say something without really considering that it could be rude. Nothing too horrible, but for example, the other day we went to my friend Cathy's house for dinner. Ryan was hungry and dinner wasn't ready, so she gave him some crackers to snack on. Rather than saying thank you, he proceeds to say, "But these aren't my favorite crackers."

I'm like......

And then he asks Cathy what's for dinner, and she tells him, and he proceeds to say, "But I don't want that for dinner."

I'm completely mortified.

So I proceed to explain to him that you don't say things like that because it's not polite. When a friend gives you something or invites you to dinner, whether it's your favorite food or not, you smile and say thank you.

Good thing this happend with a very understanding friend who knows Ryan is autistic and doesn't really 'get' the need for social graces.....yet. We're working on it.

Everyone--I can't believe the trip is this week! I am nowhere ready. I am getting ready to go to work and then tomorrow am going with friends to L.A. to go to a spice store and a restaurant we've been wanting to check out.

Brandy is sleeping (at least when Bella isn't barking at some imaginary monster or old old boyfriends aren't calling and making the phone ring--I let it go to voicemail this time). She is looking much better but has been pushing it the last couple of days so I'm glad she's getting some rest.

Heather--I'm going to be a slowpoke too this trip. My leg is still really bothering me, and now I think it might be the hip It's really painful and hard to get around. If it rains, I just may hang out in the Hearthstone Lounge drinking Magicale girlies.

Deb and Donna--I talk to Dawn everyday. Don't miss a day.

That is so nice that he's so bonded to you. My Farley is like that. I think it's funny that you were going to sneak Spike into your room. Poor Chris.

How many do you have??? For instance, how long did the initial upload to Carbonite take you? It took us 3 or 4 days. But it would not be pretty to take 2 weeks to restore....

Good news is that even though rain was predicted for today and tomorrow, it is now sunny! Tomorrow shows a sun with some rain. Plan for the worst, hope for the best.
