Girls Only~ OLD THREAD, new one linked in first post

Good morning and happy hump day/wednesday!

As far as the candy thing goes I hate to say it but I think some of the others are right and maybe putting the candy in the pillowcase might not be the best idea if it is a fancy one. I know mom and I are just doing a regular one with nothing fancy and buying stuff to put in it but for those that are making fancy ones it could possibly be a problem. If it changes and we need to bring bags let me know and I will make sure to pack some ziplocks! :)

Heather that is nuts about the guy on Tower. It is funny though all I could think about is the time we tricked my dad into going and in order to get him on the ride we didn't tell him what it did so when it dropped the first time he reached over and grabbed the person's leg next to him in an automatic response. Luckily it was a teenage boy although I guess in this day and age that could be considered creepy too LOL. The kid just looked at him funny but that was it LOL. And it was obvious my dad was doing it cuz he was scared and grabbing for something to hold onto and he didn't know there was the bars there. But it is NOT funny what these guys did and I hope they catch them.

I won't give anything away about Lost but all I can say is WOW! What an awesome show last night although as usual I am WAY confused! I can tell they are going to keep us guessing as usual but it was so awesome to see it again! As always can't wait till next week! :)

I didn't get anything done I was supposed to do yesterday, long story, so hopefully I can get some stuff accomplished today! I am hopefully going to run out and meet mom and get the girls valentines stuff and I wanted to get her birthday card but I won't be able to do that with her with me but I need to do that!

I haven't heard from the church whether awana is back on but it doesn't sound too good. :( I'm bummed for the girls but it IS nice not having to go out as much esp since Shelby has b-ball practice on Tues and we have GS again on Fri.

Nothing else planned for today/tonight except just watching my tivo of idol from last night and the one for tonight and that's bout it.

I'm glad the girls only have one more week of school after this and then we get another break! It will be nice!

I agree about the weather too. I will be really anxious to see what it is going to be like both here AND there. They are predicting more rain here this week. We have been looking on the weather channel for down there and it seems a bit chilly right now. I am ALWAYS cold so last year I never took my coat off. I think I remember one or two days where I took it off in the afternoon maybe but most days I remember being on the chilly side and having to leave it on. I wouldn't say it was COLD but definitely not WARM or hot by any means. To me in the mid 70's is perfect. Not cold but not hot! :)

I have been there when it has been both and I guess I would have to say if given a choice I would prefer cold to hot. As people say you can always bundle up and get inside but you can't escape the heat.

Anywho hope everyone has a good day and ttyl!

Just wanted to say good morning before I head off to work...probably won't have a chance to get on until tonight so hope you all have a good one!

So I keep debating on a carry on vs. checking my bag. I hate having to get my liquids all into a ziploc bag to go through security and I don't seem to always pack light. Last time I flew on Alaska they were being pretty hard on carry ons and making alot of people check their bags (granted the flight was full) which was a bummer since you have to pay for your bags now and it sure slowed everyone down. What do most of you do?

Good morning girls!!

I hope everyone has a good day! :cool1:

Oh and I saw that on the news about the scary you know what grabbing guy on TOT. Really weird. :scared1:

I want 85 degrees during the day and 70 at night....is that doable?:thumbsup2:love::cloud9::cutie:
:scared1: If it's 85 degrees during the day, I'm not leaving the hotel room. lol

You might want to add mace or pepper spray to your packing list Beth.

So the moral of the story is............stay OFF the ToT ride. Got it. :thumbsup2

Good morning ladies. Well another night of snow/ice but not as bad as before. Supposed to get in the 40's today so hopefully some stuff will melt before the next storm this weekend.

I hope everyone has a great day.
Stay safe and warm.

Morning girls!
I actually have 2 days off in a row! I am excited!
Enjoy!!!

I won't give anything away about Lost but all I can say is WOW!
I have never watched an episode of LOST. I am looking forward to the new Survivor though. Heroes vs. Villains. YAY!! And Amazing Race is starting again too. Those two are my favorite shows.

Just wanted to say good morning before I head off to work...probably won't have a chance to get on until tonight so hope you all have a good one!
You too! :)

And everyone else have a great day!!

I hope it's COLD. Really cold. And drizzling. Not actually raining but just sort of misting. There I said it. Y'all can throw things at me now........ :rolleyes1 :duck:

When we lived in Burbank and had our APs, we'd check the weather forecast and if it called for rain, we'd plan to go those days. It was just so nice to have the park empty. :goodvibes

Of course I've also been in DL when it was coming down in buckets and that was no fun. We do not want that. But something in between would be nice.

The year of the first ladies trip, it was SO hot and so crowded. It was really a bit much to handle. For me anyway.

I'm with you.. I prefer to be at DL when it's a little cold and drizzly... Just cool enough for a hoodie.. I don't want pouring RAIN, but some nice cool weather will be fine :)

So the moral of the story is............stay OFF the ToT ride. Got it. :thumbsup2

Uh, no. The moral of the story is to be surrounded by your girlfriends when you ride TOT!

Good morning girlies!

My cough is finally getting better, and I actually made it through my whole day yesterday without having to lay down. :thumbsup2 So I'm on the mend and planning on being healthy for our trip!!!

My dryer stopped working this week, too, which is really a bummer because I so can't afford a new one right now. I'm waiting for a repariman to come check it out, but if he can't fix it, I'm not sure what we're going to do. :sad2:

As for the weather, I vote for anything other than pouring rain. Been there, done that. Don't really want to do it again. Although the crowds would be low.......

Beth - don't you live in Vegas? Are you inside all summer?

I don't know who said it before me, but I agree - they should call for rain, but be sunny and in the 60-70's. That way most people won't show up, we'd have low crowds and lovely weather. Maybe we can pay off some local news stations...(mwah-ha-ha)

I agree, Tina. Though I also liked the reply #4 on that page.

Tina - Glad you are feeling better. Hopefully you'll be 100% by next week so you have a full week of feeling good before the trip.

Beth, Like Tina said........the moral of the story is to surround yourselves with us!:thumbsup2

Tina, Hope your dyer can be fixed. Glad your cough is better!

Kelly, Would you believe that I have never watched Lost. :rolleyes1

Kerry, I like your weather forecast too. But unlike most of you ladies, I'd rather have it hot than cold. I hate to be cold.

Those of you who are looking for bags. Don't take a chance on something too big!

I wonder how Callie is. Has anyone heard from her? I wrote her a PM a few days ago, and have not had a response. :sad2:

That sucks about the dryer. I hope it can be fixed without too much hassle or cost to you.

Beth - don't you live in Vegas? Are you inside all summer?
Yes. ::yes:: When it's 102-105 for three months straight, you don't do much outside. Maybe swim and that's it. Or go out really early or after the sun goes down.

Our summer here is like winter is to some snowy parts of the U.S. and I know that after living in northern MI for 3 years.

In winter their heat is on 24/7, in summer our air conditioning is on 24/7.

In winter you rush from house to car to building to stay in the heat. Here you rush from house to car to building to stay in the A/C.

In winter grocery shopping is a pain because you have to scrap all the snow off your car that fell while you were in shopping, and push the grocery cart to your car through the snow and slush. Here you have to keep a cooler in your car just to get your ice cream home before it's soup.

Same pain in the butt, just different times of the year. lol And I'd much rather be here with no snow. From mid October to about April, it's lovely weather here.
I grew up in SoCal, but even with their more mild temps, it was still too hot for me. Anything over 75 and I'm not liking it. :sad2:

I wonder how Callie is. Has anyone heard from her? I wrote her a PM a few days ago, and have not had a response. :sad2:

She's been updating daily on FB. She's doing well. Having fun with her family in Maui. Today is their last full day there.
Also, she's been posting updates about her mom who is currently still waiting on test results to see if the cancer spread, so everyone send prayers and good thoughts to Jane (her mom).

Okay, I won't try to sneak a bigger carry-on on the plane. I'll just use the one I have, which is 21" long. I hope I can fit everything in it that I need. :scratchin

I'm bringing a backpack too, as my personal item to carry on, so I can always stuff a few things in that. :thumbsup2

I already posted this on Facebook, but my poor dad has another problem.....an aortic aneurysm. An orthopedic surgeon happened to spot it when looking at x-rays taken of my dad's spine yesterday (dad has terrible upper back pain, so he was getting it checked out). The surgeon started looking at the xrays with my parents in the room. Then he said, "Excuse me for a minute." and left for quite a while. When he came back, he explained to my parents what he saw in the xrays (the aortic aneurysm), and that the reason he left the room was to consult with a colleague to confirm it.

(After I did a little research on aortic aneurysms, turns out back pain is one of the symptoms, as well as abdominal pain, which my dad also has.)

My parents were a little dumbfounded because dad was just in the hospital for a week right before Christmas, and after all the scans and xrays he had there, they couldn't understand why it wasn't spotted before. Mom is calling to have all the scans/xrays/tests sent down to the doctor in Lake Havasu so they can do a little comparison and see if the aneurysm is visible in any of them.

But anyway, as you know my dad's health is very fragile, so I'm not sure what this will mean for him. We're waiting to get more information from his doctor, either sometime later today or tomorrow. There's no way he could survive an open surgery though. No way.

Glad that you are feeling better!
Our dryer went out (or so we thought) last year and it turned out to be the vent hose was clogged with lint.. Very scary since it's such a fire hazard, but an easy fix to get the dryer up and running again... Check out the hose before the repairman comes, it could save you some $$$..

Tina, I'm glad to hear you're feeling better! But that's a big bummer about your dryer. Hopefully it can be fixed with repairs and you don't need a new one.

Capri, I'm saying prayers for your Dad.

Good afternoon!

Capri - Prayers for your dad and your family

I hope everyone has a good Wednesday!

Love the new siggie pic!!

I try to carry-on going to Anaheim then if I have to check it going back home, it's fine. You know, you buy lots of souvenirs and need another bag!! I'm pretty good at getting everything in the little ziploc (ask Callie), it usually just barely closes!! But I use all powder makeup so that's one thing I don't need to worry about. I'm trying to decide if I'm even bringing shampoo and conditioner since Hojo's has them...

So the moral of the story is............stay OFF the ToT ride. Got it. :thumbsup2

Uh, no. The moral of the story is to be surrounded by your girlfriends when you ride TOT!

If we get enough people to go on the ride all at the same time, we could fill one car! Don't they hold about 22 people??

Capri, prayers for your dad, and continued prayers for Callie's mom!! And for Tina's dryer!!

Here's what I'm going to try and make for our tie dye shirt, with a red bow on top of the head:

Boooo for a broken dryer!!!

Hope the repairman can fix it. Fingers crossed. :wizard:

I try to do carry on if I can because I don't have to worry about my luggage getting lost, and I don't have to pay to dumb checked-bag fee coming and going. The liquid restrictions make it a challenge to pack though. Not so much for things like shampoo/conditioner and toothpaste, but for things like sensitive skin facial lotion and facial cleanser.

I agree with Sarah and Melody. I'd rather have it warm and 75 during the day and 60 in the evenings. I'm ready for some sunshine and warm weather. I've had enough of the grey skies. :sunny::smooth:

Oh boy, a Diva group ride on the TOT?!!! I guess I should start the margerita IV now then. :scared1:

Here's what I'm going to try and make for our tie dye shirt, with a red bow on top of the head:

OMG - I love that shirt! Too cute! I have no idea how to do tie dye, or how you'd get the Mickey head (or in your case, Minnie head) in the middle.

Yup! Start the IV TODAY! Then you'll be ready in about 3 weeks! Same thing for anyone else who thinks they might be a little skeered to do TOT!!

I did one with just a little Mickey on the hip for Halloween, it's not that hard, and there's a couple of different threads on the Dis, HERE and HERE, and there are pictures with step by step instructions.

And I'm trying to decide if I want to put the Minnie head in the middle or on the hip...
