Girls Only~ OLD THREAD, new one linked in first post

Deb we have eaten at boma twice and my kids LOVED it!! They have some unusual stuff but always have stuff the kids will eat like mac and cheese and soups and salads etc. So you should be fine and if they are willing to try different stuff (mine are) I think they will actually like it cuz most of it is SO good and they will LOVE the deserts! For those who have gone all I can say is one word or I guess it is two Zebra domes!! YUM!!! :)

My kids are not that picky, its the big kid, the 33 YO that is picky. I am sure that maybe he could find something he liked. I hope.

Yes, I love that RCI points can be used at Disney.

The first time we went we only had Worldmark, but had banked points that had to be used or we lost them. So we stayed for 13 days on International Drive, it was really nice. But so hot in August, it wasn't bad, just muggy.

Let me guess he is a meat and potatoes kind of guy ;) But I can tell you that place has a HUGE selection and I guarantee he will be able to find stuff he likes. They have several different types of meat and there are regular old potatoes along with lots of other goodies and veggies and all sorts of yummy stuff. I think pretty much anyone can find something they can eat there. It is one of my favs!! Plus they have Jiko there which is there higher end place and I have ALWAYS wanted to try that one but it is a bit more gourmet so your sweetie prob DEF wouldn't like that place LOL but I would LOVE to try it next time. We went to Artist's point at Wilderness lodge and they have stuff like venison and buffalo but it is SO good! YUM!!! Not cheap though ;)

And yeah my mom's home resort is the Malea in Mexico and they just finally tried it after owning it for like 10 years LOL and they really liked it. It was all inclusive but they liked it. But as I said we used it twice in Florida and have been really happy. The Sheraton was nice but Orange Lake was REALLY nice. It had a really nice golf course and several lakes and a GREAT water park for the kids. I like staying on property but I have to say the timeshares are pretty great too. It is esp nice having your own kitchen and we always stock up with lots of goodies and like you we eat all our breakfasts in the room and lots of snacks. SOME dinners either in the room or at the timeshare restaurant. Or sometimes we just eat at some of the restaurants on Oceola pkway or International Drive. I do LOVE the theming though at AKL and we ate at Flying Fish at the Boardwalk last time and road the friendship water taxi over from Yacht Club and I LOVE both of those resorts. SO pretty!! Oh and who can forget Beaches and Cream!!! YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and mom just bought more points when she was in Mexico in December so that means more trips!! :)

Good morning ladies!!!

Mel, glad you had a nice visit with Cheryl and Linda, despite the cold. :)

Deb, wow, 10 days at WDW sounds awesome. I'm glad it worked out nicely for you!! :wizard:

Kelly, I hope your head, neck and back don't give you too much trouble today. Take care.

Heather, I see lots of little princess dresses in your future too. How fun!! :cutie:

I hope everyone else has a great day!! TTYL!

Good morning everyone. :cool1:

Well, Luke had a fever last night and still has one this morning. I'm not sure what he has because other than a fever of 101.3, there doesn't seem to be much else wrong with him. He doesn't even really act sick. He looks a little glassy-eyed, but other than that, he seems fine. He hasn't eaten anything yet today though, so maybe he has a tummy ache. Anyway, hopefully it's nothing more than a teeny-tiny bug, and little Lukey-Duke will be better by tomorrow.

Deb - YAY for planning a WDW trip!!! For me, out of those resorts, I would probably choose BCV if I could, although BWV would be right at the top of my list too. I've eaten at Boma twice (once for breakfast and once for dinner), and both times it was really good. I think AKV is beautiful, but.....I don't know.....it seemed like the bus ride to the Magic Kingdom took FOREVER from there. However, it's a very uniquely cool resort with all the animals, and the pool areas look fantastic. Someday I would like to stay there and try it out for myself, but not before I stay at the BCV or BWV. Oh, and I wouldn't mind trying out the new Contemporary DVC and the WLV too. Too bad they don't have a DVC at the Poly - LOL. :goodvibes

Kelly~ we don't have a home resort. Did your mom get a good deal? They gave us an awesome deal! Now we can go somewhere every year and not every other year.
He has had it for 6 or 8 years. Him and his ex bought, she used it once, in Mexico. Then there was banked points to use or lose, so we used them.

/
Capri~my first choice is AKV, second BCVand third BWV. But we will stay where there is openings. Ugh the bus ride from aKV doesn't sound so great. Dangit!!!!

Well, Luke just scarfed down an entire bowl of chicken noodle soup and then he ran back to his room to play video games. I don't get it. :confused3

For some reason I'm more concerned when a child has a fever and no other symptoms then when a child has a fever and is obviously sick with a cold or flu.....at least then you know 'why' the child has a fever when they have a cold or flu. Hmmmmmmmmm, what is going on with that kid?

Deb - I'll keep my fingers crossed that you'll get AKV. I think you'll love it there! And don't worry about the bus rides from there. With the age of your boys, I wouldn't think you'd spend that much time at the Magic Kingdom, and even if you do, you're on vacation, so it doesn't matter. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. :thumbsup2

Mel - Thanks for the clue. :goodvibes

Yeah my mom got a really good deal! The points are quite a bit different than how DVC does it and I have to admit like yours I like that you can go every year rather than every other or whatever. I am REALLY excited though that RCI added Disney to their list! I will admit though we usually rent a car because we usually go to Universal and some other places besides just Disney and last time my mom bought one Annual pass because we got the Dinning card and we get free parking with that so it worked out well and it was SO nice not to have to wait for the buses or what have you at the end of the day. Sure it is more expensive but with usually 7 of us it is sure nice to have that convenience. Plus we have always stayed in a timeshare so we HAD to have one but I think even if we stayed on property next time we still would want a car cuz we have gotten spoiled :)

It is nice to go to the other resorts or off property and not have to rely on the buses. We used the buses our first trip and got kind of messed up because we wanted to go to DTD and they didn't have buses that went to DTD from where we were so we had to ride to the TTC and then transfer over and it was a BIG nightmare. Plus it was tough at the end of the day when the kids were tired waiting in those long lines. But it is to each his own.

We LOVE Islands of Adventure and pretty much always go there at least one day and I don't know if they have any shuttles that go there from Disney. I wish they did! That would eliminate one reason for needing the car.

One thing I thought was REALLY cool at beach club last time I was there is they had outdoor movies playing. That looked so fun!

Plus those two (yacht and Beach club) are GORGEOUS. But then so is AKL and I LOVE the poly. We have eaten at Ohana and Kona several times and LOVE them!!!

Can you tell I like talking about DW!! ;)

Happy Monday Ladies :flower3: I leave for the weekend and BAM a new thread... You ladies have been busy:woohoo:

First off, Callie I am soo sorry to hear about your mom.. I am praying for her:goodvibes

My boys and I went to DL this weekend and I went to City Hall to get info on reserving tables for the Billy Hill show and the CM said that they do not do that. It was something that the dream squad did for YOAMD.. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

The weather this weekend was AMAZING!!! After being wet for a week it was nice to get out and see the sun!! I need to thank my dad for giving me a night away with my boys.. The past few months have been pretty hellish and before I exploded :scared1:He arranged for a single night at the DLH. When we checked in the CM informed us that instead of our standard room, we were given a "magical" upgrade to the dreams tower to one of the new rooms :woohoo: The room was really nice and my boys loved the castle headboard with the led fireworks. We found them by accident... There is a light fixture on the bedside table. One switch controls the light and another turns on the headboard. Very cool!!
When I checked our bill yesterday, there was a thank you letter included and it offered us an additional night for $129 (standard room) I soo wish that we could have taken them up on that offer, but we needed to get home for work and school. It was soo nice to get away and just be with my boys.. We rode rides, ate lots of junk food and went to see the Tooth Fairy movie.. (BTW, very cute and the ROCK looks very nice in his tights :cloud9:)
Now it's back to reality :laundy:...

Have a great day ladies:)

Good morning ladies! All this talk of WDW is getting me excited for my trip to WDW on Thursday! :cool1: Yes, three days from now I will be on my way - staying at the Poly! My dh and I are meeting some friends for an adult weekend!:thumbsup2

But, first I need to get ready. Kind of hard with a sick kid. :sad2: Jack got sick last night. It wasn't fun - lets just say it was coming out of both ends. Praying it was something he ate and not a bug that will make its rounds around the house!

Capri, hope Luke is feeling better soon.

Hey! The DIVA trip is a MONTH FROM TODAY!!!!
:woohoo:

Since it's almost Feb, I thought I would post this offer now...

I will be driving from my house to DL on the Thursday of the trip in the late morning (~1 hour drive). I will be stopping by the grocery store on my way to check into the HoJo in the early afternoon. I expect to have plenty of room in my car (as it is just me & I pack really well). So.... If anyone has items they would rather ship than pay the extra $$ to check at the airport, PM me. I will send you my address & we can track the packages together. (My DH works from home most of the week so he is always around to pick up packages.)

Wendy - sounds like you and your boys had a fantastic time! Wow, what an awesome upgrade!!! I'm jealous. :woohoo:

Becci - awwwwww, thanks. I'm sure Luke will be fever free in no time. I just don't understand why he has a fever in the first place.

I hope that your little Jack is better soon. That does not sound like fun! :sad2:

Just a heads up with the fever. Meghan had a fever last weekend and said a few times that her throat hurt. Well the fever went away on Monday, but she still said that her throat hurt. I really thought that she was faking it...finally took her to the doctor on Thursday to make sure and she had strep! Who would have thunk it? I was floored when the doc came in and said it. Anyway just my recent experience.

Kerri, that was nice of you to offer to bring items for those flying. :)

Capri, I hope Luke is doing okay. I hate fevers with no obvious reason as well.

Becci, I am so glad you are getting away for some adult time!! I know how much you desperately need this. :wizard:

Wendy, what a sweet thing for your dad to do for you!! :goodvibes Thanks for checking on the Billy Hill show. They told me no go when I called to ask, but you never know. Oh well. We have enough of us to hold spots. ::yes::

Can I just say that today is January 25th and you know what that means..... The tickers are all showing that we leave in exactly:

Speaking of being one month out....

Angie, today was the day to reserve the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour. How'd that go? :)

Also coming up is Jane's deadline for sending in your 3 fun facts. Exactly one week left to get that in to her.

And although there is still plenty of time, don't forget to send Kerri your phone number if you haven't already.

:thumbsup2

Just received my final grade for my RDG/530 class (reading and language arts assessment, techniques, methods, and lesson planning)......a 4.00!

WHOOP WHOOP! :woohoo:  :woohoo:

And the instructor asked if she could use my work as examples for future classes. I'm totally flattered.
