Girls Only~ OLD THREAD, new one linked in first post

Beth's pictures totally made me smile--the one of her with Cher is a personal fave as that is the director of Ty's daycare under the wig and makeup. We love Mr. Steve and it always makes me think that only in Las Vegas can you be a daycare director by day and a drag queen by night!

It's been a good but busy day here. In addition to our normal Saturday Gymboree class we added in swim lessons and literally go from one class in one location to the other with no time to spare. Then after nap time we headed over towards Beth's side of town to run a few errands and hit Fuddrucker's for dinner. The best part of things is that I finally got a black hoodie. The not so fun part was shopping for a new swimsuit. It's a process that is painful even in the best of times and I am definitely not feeling at my best bodywise. I did find a new bottom piece but am still searching for a new top--yuck!

Many prayers and hugs to Callie and the other Jane. I hope that this has been caught early and will be a minor bump in the road.

Oh my gosh! That totally cracked me up about Mr. Steve!!!

The only swimsuits I don't feel like totally crying in come from Lands End. They are not cheap, but they sell separates, and they totally lock and load.

:rotfl: I loved it when you told me that story. And when I was posing with him, I so wanted to ask if he was the one who worked at the daycare but I decided against it. I was too shy. lol

I like Land's end swimsuits because I can find a cute one that actually looks okay on me.

We're home! I picked up my parents at LAX and we had dinner at peruvian restaurant in Burbank. Then I had to hide in my sister's car because her dorms don't allow guests after 7p. We stopped for donuts and now we're watching Dogs 101 and finished some hot cocoa.

Good night!

Good morning and happy Sunday!

I said it on Facebook but Beth it looks like you had a GREAT time yesterday!! Glad you and Noelle were able to have fun!! :)

Cristabel glad your mom and dad are home and I am sure they are very proud of the great job you and your sis did taking care of everything and I am sure you will be glad to get back to being a "kid" again ;)

We had a good day yesterday. The basketball was interesting to say the least and then as I think I already said mom and dad had to stay home because of the weather so we all had lunch and then we ended up going over there for dinner which was nice although mom ended up spending the whole time working on her computer with Shane so we really didn't get to visit much.

I somehow hurt my shoulder a few months back and it is one of those things where it is not a constant pain but it hurts like when I put a coat on or try to take off a shirt over my head etc and when I tried to do some of my exercises certain movements really bothered it. I have been putting off going in to get it looked at because A I kept hoping it would just get better on its own and B I didn't want to pay the copay right now with EVERYTHING else and C I am just SO tired of going to the stupid doctor. I have had so much crap wrong with me and since I got some of my other stuff fixed I just want to be "well" for awhile and NOT have to go to the stupid doctor. It seems like every other day something else goes wrong. I feel like an old car! I also desperately need glasses I think and that is just yet ANOTHER thing I have been putting off cuz I know it is going to cost money. I used to be near sighted and wore glasses since I was 4 but had Lasik at like 33 and then got pg with Shelby right afterwards (like a week later) and my whole pregnancy I had a LOT of complications, corneal abrasions and stuff and it was a nightmare but my eye doc figured out it was because of the pg and sure enough as SOON as I had her the complications stopped and I have been pretty good ever since. But I KNEW that I would eventually need bifocals and he said around 40 I probably would. Well I will be 43 in June and it is getting REALLY bad. I can't read pill bottles at all and it is hard to work on the computer because although I can see the words they are blurry and I get a lot of headaches. I bought some cheapie ones at the store but that really bugs me looking up and down cuz I ONLY need them for very close stuff and then my eyes try to adjust and that REALLY gives me a headache. So I think I need GOOD glasses that adjust from bifocals into regular or whatever. Something! Plus I haven't HAD an eye exam in almost 10 years so it is prob time anyway LOL. Anyway I need to get it done but it is just one of many things on my "list" :)

The point of all this is we have SO much junk all week long and esp Saturdays lately that we just want to relax so I think we are just going to stay home today and take it easy. And with my arm bugging me I haven't been getting much sleep so another reason I don't feel like going anywhere! We STILL have to go to stupid winco because there are some things like milk and bread that we don't get at sam's. Their milk is weird there and their bread is way more expensive plus some canned goods and other things we get there. But other than that it will be nice to just relax. Shane bid a side job and so he will most likely have to start that NEXT weekend so it will be good to relax THIS one!

Anyway that's bout it for us. I hope everyone has a good day today. I know up here anyway they are predicting yet ANOTHER big storm so I hope everyone stays safe and dry as possible!!

Take care and talk soon! :)

Kelly, welcome to my vision world. I have worn corrective lenses since I was 18 months old!! I have been wearing contacts since I was 18. Since I hit 40, prespyopia has kicked me int the but..so I cannot see close up either. Luckily without my contacts, I can still see perfectly well on the computer, to read and see tiny print, but with my contacts, forget about it.

So, I use the cheapie readers from the drugstore and buy the plastic ones so I can flip them on my head when not in use. So far, working fine for me. I, too will be getting bifocals next time I get glasses, but not yet. I am in no hurry to stop wearing my contacts.

The last few times I got glasses, I got them at costco. Kind of a slam bam thank you mam eye exam, but far less expensive and faster than a private optometrist. Their glasses are way cheap too. My last pair which I got about 2 years ago were $139, which included the frames, lenses and I got the transition coat...so they darken out in the sun.

You can take any prescription to costco, don't have to use their optometrist.

Do I use them for my kid's glasses? NO!!! But I also pay about $450 each time she needs new glasses. I also only take her to an opthalmolgist....crossed eye...so she needs the expertise of a ped. eye doctor.

So, if you can still see distances easily without correction, I would just limp along with the readers...until you need distance correction. Bifocals are often difficult to get used to.

Good luck. Oh, and I am 48...ain't it great. Luckily only my joints are falling apart so far!!

Happy Sunday all!!!!!! Think today will be action packed with laundry, organizing and dog baths . Woo hoo!!

Yeah Amy isn't getting old so fun!! Since I had my surgery I can still see distances fairly well although I am beginning to wonder if I am still 20/20 cuz sometimes small things are a bit blurry like the clock on the vcr etc but when I had glasses if I didn't have them on EVERYTHING was blurry, trees, people, you name it. To me having the surgery was the best investment I ever made. I have worn glasses/contacts since 4 till 33 and it has been SO nice not to have to fuss with it. I have really bad dry eye too and that was a bit of a problem when I had the surgery and it ALWAYS caused me problems when I wore contacts. So it has been nice not to have to deal with that anymore or to have to have prescription sunglasses because I am HIGHLY sensitive to sunlight. It is just hard because now I really NEED the cheaters for the close up stuff but if I look away at ALL it really makes me dizzy etc but you are probably right. I don't want to have to invest in "better" glasses till I absolutely HAVE to.

I also have a lazy eye and it tends to wander quite a bit lately with me trying to focus so much and esp when I am tired so often because of trying to strain to read or just SEE half the darn time.

Can you go to costco if you aren't a member? I know I got some regular scrips there and wasn't a member when I was out of town. Wasn't sure if you could do that with glasses as well. I belong to sam's not costco. My parents are members though so worst case maybe I could use THEIR membership and just pay them back?

Thanks for the info and maybe we can get a discount on our white canes and seeing eye dogs eh? ;)

Oh and PS I feel your pain on the joints too. My knees sound like snap crackle pop. I don't think I have ANY cartiledge left. It hurts just to walk much less do anything else. I was advised not to do ANY type of squats and it makes it really hard when I am trying to get into shape cuz my lower body is my biggest problem area! I wish I had access to a pool cuz that is the BEST aeorbic NON stress exercise but unfortunately I don't! But my knees and now my shoulder joints hurt ALL the time. I really need to go back to taking the Glucosamine/chondroitin but it is so darn expensive! But I guess if it helps I should bite the bullet. But those pills are HUGE too and I have a swallowing thing too with big pills. See what I mean I am fallling apart LOL.

Good morning ladies.

Laundry day for me. Sheets, blankets, the works. Fun. :laundy:

Ryan is going to Laser Quest today for a birthday party - YAY!!! It's only the second birthday party he's ever been invited to that wasn't a cousins' party. I think the first time we was invited to a friend's birthday party was when he was in the first grade, so it's been awhile. He soooooooooo excited! Justin is taking him, and I know they're going to have a great time. Ryan and Justin love laser tag. :woohoo:

I'd tell you about my evening last night, but it was just weird and full of drama, so I'll spare you. You're welcome. :goodvibes

I love that! Beth, is the Brittany in the black bikini the same on that was on American Idol once? Or was it another talent show like America's got talent?

Tina (hi!), ditto on the Land's End suits. Love their "long torso" options. They had a tankini that looks like a regular suit but has the ease of a two piece, with a lot of coverage.:thumbsup2

Lakers are playing Toronto at 3 today. I had no idea that Canada was part of the division. Is no one else a basketball fan here?

He/she was on America's Got Talent. ::yes::

No sports fans in this house. Sorry.

Capri, glad to hear about the birthday party invite! Sounds like a fun time. Sorry you had drama last night. :(

Hey Kelly--I'm not falling apart that badly..:confused3:lmao:.just the knees, and ankles. I do swim, which helps a lot. I am back to crawling around the floor examining big dogs again, it ain't pretty, but with my knee surgery, I was not able to for about 6 months. Makes my job quite challenging.

Doesn't it make your Mamma heart glow when your kid is happy?

Oh, and I love drama...maybe I need to get my own life one of these days.

I don't fit Land's end suits well...they are great quality, but even the long torso ones don't work for me. I have never tried any of the tank type, but boy the tankini's I try never work for me. The legs fit odd, and the top is never close to long enough!! I haven't bought one recently, kind of gave up. I am so much more a Speedo girl...yeah...I look hot!!

And, sorry, no sports fans in my house either.

Beth! Great pictures. I have a thing for drag queens. I just want to put more makeup on them. :confused3 :rotfl:

I don't know what happened to my laptop. I was using it and then I walked away for an hour or so and when I came back, it couldn't connect to the internet. My wifi switch is on, but it's not working! I looked it up and apparently this is a common problem with my make of laptop. BOO!!!

ME ME!!!!!! Vicki is too. She's a Nuggets girl like me. The Raptors are in the Eastern division? Yeah?

Well, hubby let me sleep in today. Meghan is feeling a lot better since getting her on antibiotics Thursday. She is actually excited that she is going to school tomorrow! Donovan is running around the house with a "play" picnic tablecloth tied around him as a super hero cape!

My goal today is to get all the clothes laundry done and to finish cleaning off my kitchen counters of stuff that does not belong in a kitchen. We are really trying to go thru and organize and clean out every nook in the house over the next few months. We have to do some of it slowly because there is going to be a lot of garbage found to throw out and our can can only hold so much!

Well, I will be on and off today. I am feeling much better from my sinus issues earlier, so I am playing catch up to get everything done. At least I have a great hubby who will help me all of this!

Donna - there is only one Canadian team in the NBA, the Toronto Raptors. There used to be two - Vancouver Grizzlies (now Memphis). Frank and Jesse were sad when they moved, but Vancouver is a hockey town, so they didn't do all that well here.

Oh Tag Fairy, where are you?!?!?

We are hockey and baseball fans here. Go Sharks and Giants!!!!

Courtney--sorry about your laptop. Computer and car troubles are the pitts, because I don't understand either!

Today is my dad's 60th birthday, so we are heading over to my parents' for dinner tonight. My diet is really taking a beating this weekend!
