Girls Only~ OLD THREAD, new one linked in first post

Thanks for the prayers for my daddy.

My kids are lucky I guess. We're in a school district that still has parties for everything and allows all the goodies too. :thumbsup2

There is no school on Friday or next Monday, so the class Valentine parties will be tomorrow. Hopefully Ryan will be well enough to go to school tomorrow so he doesn't miss the party.

Also, I just wanted to say that when Ryan was Nathan's age, he also hated change. He had a difficult time adjusting to anything that was different from his ordinary routine, whether at home or school. But as he got older, he grew out of that. Now he likes change to get out of a boring routine. Kind of funny when I think about it. :goodvibes

Honestly, back then, I didn't think he'd ever grow out of behaviors like that. No one told me it was possible and happened quite often, so I just assumed he would always have a hard time adjusting to change.....that it was part of being autistic. But, luckily, as he grows up, many of his autistic behaviors and characteristic seem to fade away. For awhile there, it seemed when one faded, a new one would pop up in it's place. But he's been making steady progress for a couple years now with no new problems at all. I hope it stays like that as he enters puberty. He'll be 11 this June....officially a Tween. :scared:

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that because Nathan will probably outgrow some of those tendencies too.

Thanks for that Capri! I bet he will grow out of it like you say. He has come so far already. I know what you mean about solving one problem and coming up with another. It seems as he grows and learns, new things crop up. Especially things that weren't possible before like once he learned to talk then we had to battle echolalia. I'm hoping it eventually evens out like you say. Thanks for the support! :goodvibes

Courtney! That sounds like fun, and it sounds like your Mom is excited. Are you sure the taping is only 1-2 hours? I don't know about that show, but I've heard from friends that they were sometimes shocked by how long it took things to get done. Anyway, I don't know much about it, but I know that you'll have fun!

Afternoon all!

Capri continued prayers to your dad!! I feel bad for your mom too! Hope she gets a break! And hope you get a break from the homework! Can't wait to see you soon!! :)

Jane I am sorry about all the nightmares at your work but glad you can deal with the cuts you are facing. We have had to deal with pay cuts as well and it stings that's for sure. Glad you are still able to come on the trip!!

Heather glad you are feeling better and hope your little ones enjoy their school parties!!

Vicki have a GREAT time with your sweetie at DW!! Jealous!! :) See you soon!!!

Well I didn't have to worry about Melting Pot after all LOL it turns out when shane called to make the ressie it was all booked up. I should have told him places like that book up prob weeks in advance for a day like this. He asked me where else I wanted to go and I told him I was fine with just Mac Grill or someplace and he said oh good we shouldn't need a ressie for that and I said oh YEAH you will and he called and got the LAST one at 4:45! So at least we HAVE one LOL. I like that place but it certainly isn't anything fancy but it will do and much more affordable so that is good!

Anyway I spent ALL day again working on the books but with a second set of eyes the CPA helped me find my boo boo and now it balances thank goodness and I got all my stuff done that I needed to get done which was good. Then on our lunch hour mom and I went out and bought our candy for the buffet and she got her stuff to stuff her pillowcase and I got the valentines for the girls and bought the Time Travelers wife on DVD. That was one I knew I would want to own. LOVE those kinds of movies. And guess what I got not one but TWO packages of new undies!! They were on sale. I feel so special!! :)

So now we just need to finish the nametags for the hunt and I think we are DONE!! Am I forgetting anything???? I hope not cuz I am ready to just be READY!

I have HALF my suitcase packed, can't pack my jeans yet cuz I don't have enough pairs to pack and not wear LOL but all my shirts and my jammies are packed and now I can pack my undies!! ;)

Plus I can't pack my bathroom bag till the night before/morning of cuz although a lot of the stuff I have a travel bag of there is some stuff like my brushes and my meds and a few other things I have to wait till that day to pack. But I am "almost" there!!

Anyway we have nothing on the schedule for today. I just picked up the girls and I have a tivo of that new show past life and my movie to watch and then AI tonight so that's bout it for me. Hope everyone else is having a good day and talk to ya'll later!!

I think 2 day would be fine (plus you can get the 2-fer park hopper). :)

Woohoo! Except I think the 2fer is just 1 day/1 park?

I would say probably not. I don't even think the park is open too late on Thursday night, maybe 8pm.

It is 8pm. We'll just get her a PH. Thanks, Stacie!

Courtney, get your mom the 2fer and then you can upgrade to a parkhopper. That way you get a 2 day parkhopper for the price of a one day parkhopper!:thumbsup2

Don't you have to pay for the price of the upgrade? The 2 day PH is like $90something and a 2fer is $72?

Courtney! That sounds like fun, and it sounds like your Mom is excited. Are you sure the taping is only 1-2 hours? Yikes, you may be right Heather. I hope it doesn't take allllll day! We want to get to the M&G on time!

Hi everyone. I hope everyone is having a happy hump day. I'm tired because I just came back from the gym and cooked dinner. I have to hop in the shower now because I have class at 7pm but want to get some homework done beforehand. I have four sections of math homework due tomorrow and I haven't started yet!!!

I think I'm going to skip bible study and just head home after class. I really don't feel like driving home around 10:30 or 11pm.

I'm assuming traffic is horrible around 5pm.

That would be a correct assumption Cristabel.;)
Good luck with math homework. That was the worst for Breezy. Math. Blech.

Kelly - yay for being almost ready! I think a lot of us are ready to go.

Have a nice evening everyone.:)

How about 6:30pm? I forgot that I'm going to the gym after my last class and then I have to shower.

Como se dice "much better" in espanol?
That is what I would say.;)

It requires some slight "misuse" of my university credit card, but I think that I am in a do now and beg forgiveness later situation and my supervisor seems to agree--THANK GOODNESS!

Anyhow, it feels like I'm not around here much lately, but I am thinking of all of you and looking forward to the trip :lovestruc

Hi Jane! We have that same motto at work...use your best judgement and make a decision and ask for forgiveness later.

I can't wait to see you and share our room and have fun during the sav hunt.

See you soon!

Good morning Divas. :cool1:

I need to do school work today, but I'm procrastinating. BLAH! :headache:

Steph - I have a week break from school during the week of the ladies trip, so I will be able to just relax and enjoy myself while I'm there.....I'm grateful for that. Did I mention I was burned out? :crazy2: :rolleyes1

Heather - I'm so glad you're feeling better.

Wendy - Please come on the trip. C'mon....please? :flower3:

January - I'll miss you sweetie! :sad1:

No new undies for me.....no need to try to impress Aunt FLO, who will most likely be accompanying me on the trip. She's so rude.....just inviting herself on our trip like that!

Speaking of the trip, my poor mom keeps telling me how she wishes she could come.....although, even if she could come (which she can't), I'm not sure what I would think of that. She's not really the Disney/girlie type. It would be like having Auroa (from Terms of Endearment) there.....yeah, a little scary yet perhaps entertaining if you have the right sense of humor. :goodvibes

I think she just wants a break from taking care of dad. I'm sure she just wants to have some fun without having any responsibilities for a few days. I feel bad for her.

And speaking of my dad, here's the only news we have so far: He has an abdominal aortic aneurysm. They would like to do a scan of the aneurysm, but needed to test his kidney function first. The tests came back and shows that his kidneys are only funtioning at 29%.....not good. And so the focus of the doctor shifts to his kindney function. Weeeeeeeeeeee, isn't this a fun ride? :dance3:

We don't have anything planned for Valentines Day. No cards, no movies, just staying home and, I don't know, maybe doing laundry and of course no day would be complete without doing a boat load of school work.
I feel bad for your mom (and you all too!) It is very hard to watch those we love struggle. Steve's mom is having a hard time with taking care of his dad. Its exhausting and very stressful for everybody involved, thats for sure.

Happy Thursday all -

I leave for WDW tomorrow! Mr. CA will be taking the red-eye and arrive Friday morning. My parents will go to Daytona after having lunch with us on Friday - we'll have their condo to ourselves for the weekend...:cool1:

I'm sort of packed but I'll get it together before 6:30am tomorrow morning!

I am in desperate need of a hair cut and color so I broke down and made an appointment locally for this afternoon because there is no way I can fit a trip to Denver anytime soon into my schedule to have my sister do it. I love the way my sister colors my hair so wish me luck!

I finally made a dinner reservation for Valentine's Day at the Flying Fish...not the most romantic resturant but I've like their food in the past and we can hang out at EPCOT until dinner.

I'll check in while I'm gone with my new Blackberry...I haven't tried getting on Disboards with it but I did test FB so I'll check in somewhere.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week and by the time I get back it'll only be a week until the ladies trip! Feb. is just flying by...I have to go to Dallas the Tues. and Wed. before the trip and work on Thurs. morning so I'll see you all at the Meet and Greet...exhausted but happy and excited to see you all!:goodvibes
Have a wonderful time! Safe travels :)

I am so jealous of everyone whose kids get to have a Valentine's Day party at school. Ty's school is not acknowledging the holiday officially but we are allowed to take cards in for all the kids. However, there is NO candy allowed due to food allergies. So, we got Cars valentine's for the boys in his class that came with tattoos and Tinkerbell with stickers for the girls. But, I miss the days of conversation hearts, pixie sticks and of course reese cups :sad1:

In other news the budget "stuff" is continuing to hit the fan. Right now it looks like we will be at a 6% pay cut for next year. While that's not great news we were already slated for 4.6% that I actually started taking early (I took an option that allowed me to do a 2.3% cut for 2 years instead of 4.6% for one year). And, as recently as last week there was talk of either a 20% pay cut OR 6 unpaid days off each month, which works out to a 28.2% salary reduction. So, in the grand scheme of things, I'm feeling okay.

Meanwhile, it looked like I might be headed to St. Louis tonight with a group of students to attend a conference. The woman that I supervise (and who is the official chaperone of the trip) got the stomach flu yesterday while we were at her birthday lunch celebration. She is still pretty sick, but I think that I have figured out ways to have our graduate assistant serve as the trip leader.

All the budget cuts everywhere are so scary! Sometimes the stress of worrying about it all is worse! I'm such a worrier.

Vicki, have a wonderful time at WDW!!!!

Okay, so my Mom just called me right now to let me know she got us tickets for the filming of the Bonnie Hunt Show on Thursday (February 25th). The filming is at 2pm and is in Culver City. SO, we're going to that pretty much that whole afternoon and will be in Anaheim after. We should be back just in time to unpack and go to the meet and greet. Anyways, she's sooooo excited! She called me screaming. She's nuts.

So, since the filming starts at 2 and let's say it take about an hour to two? I Mapquested Culver City to Anaheim and it's about 40 minutes. Let's say we get to Anaheim at 5:00. The M&G starts at 6:30. Should we get my Mom a ticket for that day at DL? Looking at all this, it doesn't look like we'll make it to the park that day... She was going to get a 3 day PH since we're leaving Sunday morning, but now she may only need a 2 day. What do you girls think?
That is so exciting!! I love going to filmings. I really want to get tickets to see Ellen.
You never know how traffic is going to be up there. I would be shocked if it only took 40 minutes, especially in the afternoon!

We had sun today and the weekend weather is supposed to be in the 70's...yippeeee! Our mountains are just stunning with all the snow too!

I enjoyed my afternoon watching Oprah, who had Celine on, whom I LOVE!!! She is going back to Vegas in March 2011....and I WILL be there!! I saw her opening night at her last show (and a few others after that too!!)

Then Ellen had Michael Buble' on....whom I LOVE too!! Sheesh...all I needed was a show with Wynonna on and it would have been a music love trifecta!! LOL

Looking forward to Idol tonight...scary group night! I was very dissapointed in the coverage last night and felt they really only showed a few favorites and left everybody else out. I don't think thats fair to all the other people who may not have such touching stories, but may sing great none the less! I loved Ellen on it!!

Enjoy your evenings!!

My 18 yr old sister is obsessed with Michael Buble. We just got her 6th row floor seats for his concert here. She was in school and trusted us to get decent seats. She was amazed how great we did:)

I loved Ellen on AI!

Hi ladies!

I am home, eating sushi and having a cup of tea. It has been a LONG day. Having Brandy gone from the office is difficult to say the least.

On top of that--I've got a really bad muscle issue in my left thigh--it started a couple of weeks ago (Stacielee was it bothering me when you were here?) and has just not gotten better despite Advil and some stronger prescription stuff. I went the massage therapist/chiro last week and thought it would get better. But it didn't. So I went tonight again and am hoping it gets better. I have no idea what I did, but I'm sure all of the stress of the last week hasn't helped.

Yesterday our family doc called and said my Mom's blood tests had revealed that she had a bacterial infection when she went to the hospital last week called peptostreptococchus (not sure of the spelling). So that's what caused the fever. They had sent her home with antibiotics and she feels much better. Not sure how she got it.

so other than that I'm going to bed soon!

Prayers to everyone who needs them and 15 more days!

Cheryl

We saw him last May for my Bday and he was AMAZING in person...really funny....and actually a little naughty ;)

I'm bored. And tired, but not sleepy enough to go to bed yet.

I keep thinking about this trip and what more I should be doing to prepare for it. For some reason I'm having a hard time with that. It's too soon to start actually packing and yet, I have this feeling I'm forgetting something important I should be doing/preparing/buying and it will be too late once I realize it. :confused3

I did stop by Home Depot today and pick up some Mickey heads so I can cross that off my list. :thumbsup2

I started putting my park bag together. I think I'm going to carry the same one I did last year. I used a different one in August, but it didn't hold as much and there was no where for my water bottle. I want to carry my jacket with me, and a drink so I'm packing my baggallini again. I wish I hadn't gotten red now. I wish I had a black one, oh well. I'm not buying a new one.

Cheryl, I'm sorry you're in pain, and I pray that Brandie recovers fast. Her surgery is tomorrow right? I'll be praying for her. I'm glad they found the source of your Mom's fever. Now she can be on the road to wellness again!

I'm heading to bed soon. I have to work tomorrow, and have two meetings I have to catch up on. It's going to be a busy day for me.

Night!

Hey divas!! I know Ive been MIA lately, but life gets in the way sometimes. Just wanted to say hello. I can't wait till the trip. It will be my first time in a while that I get to just relax and have some fun. Hope everyone is doing well. I am going to try to catch up with the thread.

Good evening everyone!

Cheryl - I hope your leg feels better soon. I have some sort of issue right now. I messed up my right leg on Monday when I was walking to my WW meeting. I don't know if I didn't properly warm up or the cold just gave me a stiff right leg. It still bothers me but I'm hoping it will go away by next week. I feel it most when I'm sitting down, which I do a lot of in school. I'm definitely praying for Brandy tonight. I hope the surgery goes great and her recovery is more smooth than it is rough but that's hard because any surgery is rough.

Stacie - Good to see you! It's better to have a busy life than a boring one...well as long as your on top of everything because if you're not then it gets stressful. Right now I'm very busy with WW, exercise and keeping up with my five intense classes but it gives less time for my brain to just think because when I'm not busy I start worrying about the future, remember how much I miss my family, worry about financial stuff etc. The saying "idle hands are the devils playthings" is so true, because he just loves to mess with your brain.

Beth - I can't even think of anything that you need to pack or prepare of this far out. I can only say don't forget: your different colored shirts, $, and clothes but of course you still have 2 weeks to get that all together.

As for my packing, I'll probably buy my six packs of water and coke zero next weekend. I wouldn't want to buy my soda way ahead of time and then find out it's flat when I open it up in the park. I'm trying to figure out breakfast foods to bring because breakfast in the park is expensive and not very fulfilling. I'm planning on bringing instant cream of wheat, fruit and some yogurts. I'll definitely bring my healthy snacks because I'm trying to be healthy & cheap while occasionally having a DLR snack.

I better sign off and start my math and business admin homework. See you all tomorrow.

Oh and 14 more days!

Heather and Cristabel: thank you for our thoughts of Brandy. Due to scheduling difficulties and the holiday on Monday they have postponed the surgery until TUESDAY. I can't believe it--it will be 8 days after the accident. She is in a lot of pain and the pain meds make her throw up so she's not taking them.

Oh, that is horrid for Brandy. Sounds like we're living in a third world country, doesn't it?

I'm glad they got to the bottom of what your mom had. Now, about your muscle pain - have you had any new medications? No, rephrase that, have you had any medication in the last year? It could be a side effect of something like even a cholesterol-lowering drug.

Hey divas!! I know Ive been MIA lately, but life gets in the way sometimes. Just wanted to say hello. I can't wait till the trip. It will be my first time in a while that I get to just relax and have some fun. Hope everyone is doing well. I am going to try to catch up with the thread.

Courtney - you might call to see how long the taping runs. It could be three hours. And your mapquest doesn't take rush hour into account. Maybe you'll get lucky and it will run shorter. YOu won't need a ticket that day.

Beth - you live so dangerously, not multi-quoting! ;)

That is ridiculous! It's a freakin' broken arm! What is wrong with these people?!
