So we went to go pick up my dh's car last night and it wouldn't run at all. Blue smoke came billowing out of it when we tried to turn it on. So now we had to get a rental car that is costing 450!!!! for a week...what a rip off! This is redic. And now we have to go pay off our car, buy a new car in the next week and we are so busy we don't even have any time off together to go look or test drive a car! Plus my mom is going out of town this week so there won't be as many people to help watch the kids! Agkk!

that is a ridiculous price for a rental car!

So I talked to the car rental place and they said that the base price is 260 and that my dh added 80 of liability insurance and that there is a 25% tax on top of all that which comes to the 450 total. So I am not sure about the liability insurance. I have car insurance that would cover any problem but they are saying the liability insurance would mean that if we got in an accident our personal insurance would never go up and we wouldn't have to pay anything. Anyone know if this is true? Sounds fishy to me.

Did I mention my last cake decorating class is tonight. It has been soooo much fun! I may have to do the next class! I am really enjoying it!!!!! And I am way better than I thought I would be. If my cake turns out well tonight I will try to take a picture and post it! We are learning roses tonight!

Has a meeting place been decided on for the Segway tour and the VIP tour?

Stacie, do you want to just have the ladies going on the Segway meet at the hotel, in the lobby or whatever, and y'all walk over together? Let me know what you think and I will update the front page. :thumbsup2

We can meet in the lobby at the hotel and walk over together. I would think that since it starts at 7:30, we should probably meet between 7-7:10, to give us enough time to walk over. As soon as I make the reservation, I'll find out exactly where we're supposed to meet at the park.

Is it the Collision Damage Waiver?

It's probably too late to take it off, if you're already driving it, but if your insurance company would totally pay, and/or if you are using a credit card that gives you the same protection as the CDW does (for instance, our simple BECU Visa offers that protection), then there's not a huge point in having it. It's osmething like...if you got into an accident, even if your insurance covers it, you might be out some initial outlay of money to the car rental company. Insurance would end up paying it back, probably, but it's an immediate vs later problem.

Now that we have the BECU card, we won't get CDW again, even though our insruance would have covered problems...we just don't want to be out that immediate money the rental car company might need.

That said, when we rent a moving truck/van, we get the CDW coverage, b/c that's going to cost more if we had a problem. And it makes drop-off SO much easier...they inspect those trucks if you don't have CDW, but if you do they don't even check. :rolleyes2

Hi Friends! I'm just popping in to say HI!!!!!!!!!!

Busy, busy day today.

Hi friends! Wednesdays are my busiest day of the week, but I am missing you all, so I thought that I would quickly pop on just to say hello!:wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

Hey all!

I have been thinking about the trip, and I am happy with everything that I have planned except for one thing. I really wish I was eating at Blue Bayou. :guilty: To me it's such a unique thing to DLR that how can I visit without seeing it!

I was thinking that maybe I could squeeze in a desert only seating just to experience the place. What do you all think? When would be a good time to do this? Sunday night? Monday noon? I just don't want to leave with any regrets.

I'm also thinking that as a first timer, I shouldn't have done the VIP tour. I thought the purpose of the tour was to see all kinds of rides and things with the help of your guide, and learn inside things about them. That really interests me, but now I'm hearing stories about how on the VIP tour last time, they only rode 2 rides, and spent the rest of the time walking around. Now if I was doing it at WDW, that would be great, but as a first timer to DLR, it's not really what I'm looking for. I guess in essence I'm regretting doing the VIP and not BB. What do you all think? I hate to even say this, and I don't want Tracey to take it wrong as she is planning an awesome tour, I just don't think it's want I want. *sigh*

OK, I'm off to feel like an ungrateful heel now.

Heather, I don't blame you for feeling the way you do. After all it's your first trip to DLR and you're worried about wasting 6 hours on a tour. It's not just 2 hours, it's 6! That's a lot of park time.

If you really want to squeeze in BB, what do you think about just grabbing some dessert after the DVC tour on Friday night? The park is open until midnight, and I bet they would still be serving dessert at least until 10 pm, if not later.

I've never had a cookie boat, and would love to join you. :goodvibes

Oh I meant that the area back across from the Plaza Inn is going to become the gallery. That long ago it was a temporary AP center, then became whatever it has been (wasn't there a baking thing there for awhile a few years back? I remember wanting DS to do it before we found out about his corn syrup problems), and now it's closed off and is becoming the gallery.

hmm mouseplanet article says the gallery is going into the bank afterall.. sniffle sniffle

It’s official. Nostalgia is erasing authenticity.

It was formally announced during last Monday’s “Mickey’s Roll Call” (a fancy term for the daily meeting for managers) that the Bank of Main Street and a portion of the Opera House lobby will become the new Disney Gallery.

The bank’s 1955 interior, complete with hardwood teller windows, has been used primarily for Annual Passholder processing over the last 15 years. It all will be torn out, along with at least half of the Opera House’s lobby.............

Heather - I feel sad about missing out on lunch at the Blue Bayou too. Are you going on the DVC tour? If not, I would be up for doing a dessert seating there on Friday night. We're having an early dinner (and I don't know if we have reserved seating for anything with the tour after that), so it may be good to share a cookie boat or something????

EDIT - oops, just saw Callie offered to go after the DVC Tour. Nevermind.........

That sounds yummy! Thanks for understanding also. :goodvibes I would love to do it Friday evening. I do want to see Fantasmic though...what time do you suggest? Also, our phone in this new apartment is not working great. We will have a landline early next week, so I won't be able to call for a PSing until then. Anyone else want to join us?

I am going to book for after the DVC tour so that my roomie Callie can join us. I'm waiting to hear what time the tour ends, I'm thinking doing this might require us to do the late Fantasmic! seating. I'll see what Callie says on that. Callie? What say you?

Well, I know Beth is planning on doing the long wait for F! on Saturday night. Did you want to see it both nights?

I'm not sure BB will take a PS reservation for just dessert. I think we may need to do walk-up. I'm thinking Molly (Bumbershoot) may know the answer to this question. . .

OH MOLLY!!!!

:scratchin Think she heard me?? :lmao:
