Girls Only Disneyland Trip - Old Thread

It's funny, Capri. I have totally been like that up until this visit (and who knows, once I get there I may revert to my old ways). But honestly, I don't even care if I go on PoTC. I've been on that ride enough for my lifetime. Don't get me wrong, I'll want to go on the thrill rides so I'll be grabbing FP's for Space, Big Thunder, Screamin, etc. But I am looking forward to an atmospheric visit this time and plan on warming some benches as well as seeing the new Castle walk-thru and changes in IASW.

I will not be running around like crazy or waiting in long lines in order to go on rides though. I do that enough when I'm there with my kids (and have done that the last couple times I've been there without them as well).

I just can't relax there. Everytime I walk through those gates, I feel the need to get as much done as possible, since we're only there for a finite period of time. My family just doesn't wait in line to meet characters and such (unless the line is really short), because we feel like we're wasting valuable time. They would rather ride Star Tours 6 times in a day, Big Thunder 7 times in a day, Space Mountain 3 times in a day, ect.

I will have to ride Pirates on our trip though. It's a classic I just can't miss. (Although I do understand what you're saying). I also want to go through the castle walk-thru, and check out the changes on IASW (although that rides annoys me just a little).

I'm all for NOT waiting in long lines!

Am I the only one in the group who is a ride kind of person? You know, the kind of person that likes to get on as many rides as possible.

I guess I haven't gotten to the point of wanting to sit back and people watch, or wanting to watch any of the shows more than once, or getting autographs from all the characters, or.......

Nope, I just want to go on rides. (Although I will watch the fireworks and Fantasmic over and over again. Love those shows!)

Is that strange for a pushing 40 year old woman? I have a feeling I know what the answer is.:goodvibes

I like doing a lot of rides too! And with children as young as mine this is a great chance to do the big rides as well as shopping. I am trying to figure out in our schedule if there is going to be time for rides!

So I am working on the tote bag and remembering why I wasn't going to do it in the first place...I am sooooooo not creative! Sorry to anyone who gets this one!

I love riding the rides as well. I do go often enough that I don't feel like I need to ride everything everytime though. But I love rides. Not all of them though. I will do the chicken out exit with Cheryl when I need to.

Linda LOVE the pic of your dh and MY dh has that same shirt too LOL!

And Capri I get ya on the ride thing. We are the same way. My dh is a fp freak!! When we get there we are always the people that are at the gates an HOUR before they open so we have been picked as family of the day or whatever you call it more than once LOL and dh and stepdaughter usually run and get FP's first thing. And the for at LEAST the first 4 hours of the day that is their "job". Usually at DL they go and get splash first. Then we all go on pirates. Then they usually go get space as soon as they are able (in other words) as soon as the splash FP says we are able to get our next pass. Then since we are usually still in Adventureland we usually ride Indy and get one for that. And that is usually how it goes till at least noon. We ride as MUCH as can of the popular rides while things are slow and he collects as many fp's as he can as soon as the current pass says he can get the next one. He saves up SEVERAL sets throughout the day and honestly mom and I feel that he gets a little obsessive about it when it gets to the point where we have two or three sets for some of the rides but he feels like if it comes up to a time where we can get the next set then we BETTER get one LOL.

But after having been there on SERIOUSLY busy weekends it sure is nice to have those passes handy and not to have to wait in line!

We do the same at DCA. Always go on soarin first although now that Toy story is there we will have to deviate from that plan. We haven't been back since it has been opened. Mom and I took the girls in July and we had to go on that first and then it was broke down so that totally messed with her schedule. But Toy story has to be your first stop now and getting a FP for Soarin along the way usually works.

But on THIS particular trip I am not going to stress. We have SO much planned that I know rides may not factor into that. And since I am going back in April I am not stressin. I know for some of you though you may not get to go that much and this may be your only trip so that may be more important to some to actually get to GO on some rides. Mom and I have already said if we don't get to go on very many it is no big deal. I am just looking forward to meeting everyone and doing stuff that I DON'T normally get to do which is hang out and act silly and have fun. I honestly have been on all of these rides hundreds of times and I will get to go on them again so I am not stressing if I don't get to go on any this trip.

I just can't wait to go and just have fun! :)

I know what you mean. I'm starting to think about the rides that I want to do...in most cases several times.

So I am working on the tote bag and remembering why I wasn't going to do it in the first place...I am sooooooo not creative! Sorry to anyone who gets this one!

Sarah

Sarah I'm not sure what I'm going to do with my bag. My focus may be more on what's inside as I got a great deal on the bag itself.

I can't believe I haven't found a tote that I liked yet.

I am doing laundry right now and need to mention it since I have always wanted to use this smilie. :laundy:

I am doing laundry :laundy: too. What a fun saturday we all have going on. My DS has been sick the past few days so we are taking it easy today. I get to go out tonight but have to work 8-4 tomorrow. I guess I will be des. driver.

Looks good to me! I will do those things with you!

Guess a lot of us picked the same shirt for our DH's. And you youngsters born when I was grown up, geesh you're making me feel old!

I'm off to run errands. It is a beautiful day here, supposed to be in the upper 70's, sunny and clear. Doesn't feel like January at all. Talk to you ladies later tonight...cause I have such a busy social life that Sat night on the DizBoards is the norm for me!:sad2:

Bernice!! Hi, how the heck are ya??? :)

I'm so glad to read you'll be able to meet up with us. We'd love to have you join us for as much as you can or would like to. ::yes::
How's the weather been? My mom is in Northern MI and she says it's been really harsh and so cold. :sad2:

Hello!! Thsi has been the year of adjustment but it feels good to be back among family. And yep, cold and bitter sums it up. Yesterday was nice though in the 20's.. heat wavvvvvvvvve!

Hi :wave2: I'm coming down on March 2 too.
Hello! Awesome, hope to see you around!

I have never, ever, worn a tiara......I don't own and never have owned a tiara......I've never even met a princess.

Damn boys! (JK :goodvibes )
Count me in with the tiara-less and boy filled household. Mine are teenagers, I can just hope.. dream.. that they will give me grandaughters to spoil (but not anytime soon- EEK!). Meanwhile I drool over girlie baby things and send some to my friend. Can't even be a spoiling Auntie to a girl.. we are completely plagued by boys in my family.

I live with damn boys too - that's why I have the tiaras :thumbsup2 It's good to remind them that you are a princess princess:

ohhh good idea!
I did look at a tiara and sash at Target, I pondered for a full minute before I sighed and walked off to the video game section.

Oh my gosh, that's brilliant!:thumbsup2

No wonder they treat me like crap. :lmao:

:rotfl2:

I think I am the oldest one on the trip. :sad2:

I'm wondering if I should wear a CROWN and be Queen for the day? :snooty:

Of course!
Ta da.. make way for QUEEN melody!

Whoo hoo! I've been trying to get my girlfriend from MN to come out and enjoy the warmth, but she hasn't so far.
Anyway, I am more than happy to give you a ride back to your hotel after the party, if you can get there. Plus, many of us will be in DL for most of the day. Make sure Beth gets your cel phone number so we have it.

Sweet! Thank you fo rhte offer, I may take you up on it!

I think we should make "Tiara Day" an annual event.

I agree!

I love the rides too, my family rolls their eyes and give the heaving sighs when I insist we go thru Fantasyland. They allow it becaude they know I will be one unhappy momma until I get my Peter Pan fix. :thumbsup2
We went nealry every Sunday last year, after awhile we all calmed and changed our ways. Some days I went around the park just snapping pictures and drinking in the little details that get missed.

Wow! You ladies are chatty this morning!
I am home doing laundry also :laundy: (have wanted to use this smiliey also :) )
But of course with 4 kids I am ALWAYS doing laundry!:rotfl:
And good news for me! I have been talking to my sister and a good friend about this awesome ladies only trip to DL and they have decided to join us! :cool1:
My friend is coming from Phoenix and I haven't seen her in over 12 years (since my wedding!)
I know it is too late for them to get in on all the action but they are okay with that. :thumbsup2 They will room together so don't worry Debra - I am still roomies with you! ;)
Beth - Is it too late to get them added to the 5pm sitting for the CC on Friday? I noticed there is one spot open - can we squeeze two in? Shall I PM you?
Well I got to go run some errands! :moped:

Sigh=-=I'm with you on many of those statements. Some friends wanted me to go out to dinner and drinks with them last night--and despite the allure of the chocolate and rum which would both have been there--I chose instead to go home, feed the cats and jump into bed asleep by 9 p.m. Pathetic, isn't it?

Not sure when they are arriving, but there's always room at the pizza party! And I talked to my DVC guide yesterday and if there are any additional ladies who want to go on the DVC Tour that's ok too.

And before I forget.. excuse any and all of my typos. I am a horrible typist, makes for some fun entertainment on occasion. ;) :upsidedow

I just can't wait to go and just have fun! :)

When we were there over my birthday a couple of weekends ago, we left at about 7pm with 4 sets of 2-people fast passes for Indy, Space, Screamin' and TOT. Allyson (dd, 13) and I looked for a suitable couple to give them to (we had our conditions) and when we got off the tram at Mickey & friends, there was this cute couple, probably in their 20's who were waiting for the tram. We gave them all of the FP's and I explained that they could still be used, even though the time was passed. They were so excited!! And it made me feel all warm inside. :flower3: So fun!!

Not sure when they are arriving, but there's always room at the pizza party! And I talked to my DVC guide yesterday and if there are any additional ladies who want to go on the DVC Tour that's ok too.

Great! I think they will like to do that with me! I will pm you!

Ummm, I don't do tiaras and probably will skip PFF. It makes me angry (Molly knows all to well my feelings about that place). Is that ok??

That means you can wait for me to get there. :) My plane lands at 8:35 that day, and since Cheryl added my name to the reservation I think that means I can get into the room, and then I'll come over to DL asap! So you can be my welcoming committee.

:rotfl: oh yeah right like I would expect anyone to just stand around, with an iced latte and chocolate chip cookie for me, just waiting for me to enter the gates! :lmao: :rotfl2:
