Today's session was soooo much better! I was more relaxed, we talked some about Nathan, and she gets it! :cool1: I'm always worried that other people don't see what I do, but she does and she's given me great tips to help him along. As long as we are moving forward, I am good. Nathan is a great person, and I want him to be the best Nathan that he can be.

Jane, my ped was exactly like yours, older, laidback, loved him. He blew me off at Nathan's 18 month appointment in August. In November, I couldn't wait any longer, and I referred him for an evaluation through our states early intervention program. Listen to your gut, and think hard about things. If you feel astrong need to get things looked at do it! You know your child better than anyone.

The first day of our trip is up on www.accuweather.com! :cool1: (sorry, I'm one of those who will check the weather DAILY at least once between now and the trip)

So far it's predicting considerable clouds with a High of 60 and a Low of 47.

Not bad. At least it's not rain!!!

I kept checking the accuweather too. So far so good.

I went to Claire's today and ended up getting two tiaras. They were on sale. They also had a "princess" section with a bunch of cheaper tiaras that were about $3.50. The ones I got were about $7 or so. So if anyone is still looking, they have them there. The cheaper ones were on the back wall. The ones I got were on the clearance racks. Turn the rack around and check each row. These ones were on the bottom. Oh, and I won't be that tacky or gaudy. Just a little, not overboard though.

Also, I finally got my tote bag. I found exactly what I was looking for. Then I headed over to Michael's to pick up the stuff to decorate it with. And I picked up some goodies to fill it with as well since I got the tote on such a good deal. BTW - Micheal's has Disney Princesses and Tink stuff in their dollar area. Great deal!

Capri - Sorry to hear about Ryan. Girls can be very mean. Its sad but true. And I would tell him to sit next to her too. If she wants to keep paying him money, so be it. Does he have a "buddy" or friend in the class he can sit with?

That I don't know. It's a good idea though. I'm not sure what time everyone is arriving.
I know several are doing the Princess lunch at 2:00, Heather/Sarah are eating at Hungry Bear, and January and I are eating lunch and watching the Billy Show at 2:35.
That's about all I know for that day. :rotfl:

We may join you for Billy! I have wanted to see it and may be able to switch Hungry Bear to a different day!

Sarah

I am going to be soooo dissappointed if it is in the 60's. I want 70's and 80's please!

Sarah

...I am worried about trying to talk to our pediatrician about his (imho) speech delays and his ears as he has had 5 double ear infections in the last year.

With that many ear infections, I would highly strongly seriously urge (beg) you to take him to a nice, gentle chiropractor. There is something going on up in there, and chiropractic is an absolute miracle for littles with situations that are being diagnosed as ear infections. The ear tugging that to MDs is a sign of infection is to DCs a sign of upper cervical vertebrae subluxation. Please please please, this retired chiro begs you. :)

And of course if he is sick for this appt, no vaccines. Says so on the inserts, even though many MDs don't seem to notice that.

Capri, I'm trying to find something from my own 3rd grade-hood to help...but I've realized that our school did NOT mainstream kids. Kids with various diagnoses were put into a special class...and while that's not what is considered ideal...ya know...those kids had solidarity within their own class. They were their own unit, and were stronger for it, from what I remember. It was also multi-grade, which has been shown time and time again to be better academically for kids, b/c the littles hear the info for the olders, and the olders can help the littles out...really solidifies things. And they were also friends with kids outside of their class...my elementary school was small...other than the special class there was one grade per room, and I remember that the one girl in our grade from that class would hang out with some of us on recess etc. Anyway, it's not done anymore, but seeing how strong they were as a class, I think it really helped the kids in my little school. (ha, little...for 4th grade I switched schools for that year, and went to a literal one-room schoolhouse that still exists...kindergarten in the library, 1-3rd grades in one half of the main school, 4-6th in the other half...though when I went there was also a 7th grader...that year I tested as "13th grade" in reading...it was an incredible school, but I digress)

All that to say I'm sorry there are such poops in 3rd grade, and I have no advice for ya.

Nathan is a great person, and I want him to be the best Nathan that he can be.
And he will be, because he has a great mom making sure of that.

Awesome! I'm going to try and get there this weekend.

We'd love for you to join us! We can even get some of the 5 layer chocolate cake to share. :thumbsup2

Sarah
:scared1: No 80's!! Too hot for me. Let's compromise on low to mid 70's. :thumbsup2

I'm so happy that it went well for you today. Sounds very positive!

I wish he did have a buddy/friend in his class that he could sit next to during lunch, but sadly I don't think he does. The few friends he has at school are either in a different 3rd grade class (he has a few friends in 2nd grade too), or they're in resource room with him.

All that to say I'm sorry there are such poops in 3rd grade, and I have no advice for ya.

Yep, there are poops in third grade......and yet they still have such sweet faces.....who knew?:goodvibes

Debra - you're a really good mom to teach your son to be nice and kind to everyone. I wish all parents did that, but sadly I think there's a lot that don't. Ah well, Ryan is a great kid, so what more can I ask for.:)

Capri: it's probably too late for this school year, but I would make sure next year that he gets put in a fourth grade class with some of his buddies--the school should be willing to cooperate on that.

I suppose mid 70's would be ok. I will hope for 80's for when I go in September.

Sarah

I'll take mid to upper 70s or low 80s. I want warm weather. I'm tired of being cold. As long as I can be comfortable wearing capris and a t-shirt during the day, I'll be a happy camper.:thumbsup2

Cheryl
You've given her some very good proactive advice.

I got a response from the MIckey Headband/Tiara seller as follows:

hi there,
i will go out for 2 days.
i will ship items on Monday.
so, if you want item very soon, i suggest you shop from other store.
i just can say, in normal how long to USA, about one week, i can not say exact days to your place, and i can not guarrantte when receive.
i cannot control the EMS.
regular combine shipping fee is 4.99 for the first item, 1.99 for each additional item.
for example, 2 items' shipping fee is 4.99+1.99=6.98
EMS should be =regular combine shipping fee + 5 to 10 dollars.
i will go out very soon, i have no time to tell you how much.
if you can wait, i will reply you after two days.
if not, please choose another store very soon.
sorry for inconvinence.

So, should I go ahead and order. (and Melody--did you want a headband?)

I'm thinking that we should order from somewhere else (if we want to order something). That's just what my gut says. :upsidedow

I'm feeling that way too--our order together would be about $100--I would hate for it not to come in time. But I'll take a chance if others want to.

I agree with you! Tuesday we had such a nice day and I was stuck in my office. The last two days have been not so great. Its foggy & ugly outside.

Thanks. Sometimes being a single parent is challenging, most days my kids are brats or heathens (to each other) but I dare them to be disrespectful to another child that is not their sibling. Not that being rude to his brother is ok, but my BFFs husband told me it was a rite of passage...:confused3 :lmao:

Cheryl, I'm thinking we need to go with someone else. She doesn't seem too excited by our big order. You'd think she'd be happy to sell $100.00 worth of $5 items. The problem I see is that she is the only one on ebay with this. We would have to find somewhere for them. I think it may be a bust. Thanks for contacting her for us.

I did a search on eBay and could not find these exact Mickey tiaras from any other seller. I did find them at Fairy Tale Wedding Store dot com and they are $29.99 EACH :scared1:

FWIW - I have ordered some things on eBay from China and they got to me the fastest ever! Literally within days I had my parcel - not expedited. Normally when I order anything from the US to be delivered to my home, it takes 2-3 weeks, so I was super shocked.

However, whatever you decide to do, I'm with you :thumbsup2 It would suck to order them and then not get them on time!

There's no deluxe AP blackout days the weekend we're going to be there (if that's the AP you're thinking about getting).:thumbsup2

I'm getting the deluxe AP/$50 gift card deal at Costco. I think it's a great deal.
Can you please give me a recap on the Costco AP? Do I order it online, or do they have them in the stores?

Okay, I haven't heard about this. Is there a group riding TSM together on Thursday? What time?:hyper:

I have to activate an AP after I get there, and I'm not sure how long that will take. :confused3

My plans are not concrete for Thursday, but I'd like to see the Billys and head over the DCA for Toy Story and a couple of other things.

I am going to be soooo dissappointed if it is in the 60's. I want 70's and 80's please!

Sarah

No doubt! I'm tired of this cold, and my carry-on with fit a lot more light weight clothes than heavy sweatshirts and such!

Capri: it's probably too late for this school year, but I would make sure next year that he gets put in a fourth grade class with some of his buddies--the school should be willing to cooperate on that.

This is exactly what I was going to say. Make sure that while you are advocating for you child you are also maintaining a positive relationship with the school. Then when you make these types of requests they might be more willing to help you out.

Chery, I really like the headband, but if you think they won't get here on time, maybe we should go to Plan B. Also, my box is in the mail to your house and should get there Saturday.

And Heather, I'm glad your appointment went better today!

Ooh, I just had great news from Hojo regarding my reservation. I was sad because the only day I could not get much of a deal was for Wednesday March 4. That day was $119 or so - :sad2: I had to call to change my Sunday (I'm switching to a hotel closer to LAX so I don't have to get up so darn early to be picked up at 4:30 for an 8:30 flight :scared1:) I checked on the rates for my other nights and the rate had come down for that night! Not EC rate, but $76 - AND March 2 and 3 were changed from $69/each to $59/each - NQQ2 pool view - same as I had :woohoo: Yay, I love saving money.
