Beth... look at the wonderful nurses on this board who work in the area your son will be having his procedure in, and believe that good hearted, expertly trained and purpose focused medical professionals will be caring for your child. Channel your energy into belief of good..and gratitude that this will help your son.

We went through a similar experience with our daughter and it helped to have faith in the people caring for her. Also pray for the doctor to have clear vision and purposeful hands, and that every hand that touches your son does so with knowledge, healing and compassion.
Thanks for those words Dawn, I appreciate it.

Lots of hugs to Heather, Beth, Capri, and Amy. Good grief, what a stressful start to 2009, huh?
No ****!! What the heck is going on lately?? :sad2: Guess this trip can't get here soon enough.
Good luck with your shirts!

Beth - Oh sweetie, I feel just terrible for all the stress you're going through. I'll keep you and Adam in my prayers. It sounds like you're really going to need to few days to get away after all the crap you've been going through lately. Wanna meet me at DL March 5-9? ;)
You know what, I would love to meet you in DL March 5-9. It's a date! :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

Hello back! :upsidedow

I can't remember which channel it is, but one of our news teams does investigative reporting, and this sounds like the kind of story they would love!
Oh, good idea! Something needs to be done about this.

Although I don't blame you for being worried: especially about the prospect of having to continue to be his homework secretary and taking dictation for the next several weeks!:lmao:
Tell me about it! I spent 2 hours working with him last night. My homework is seriously cutting into my DIS time. :rotfl:

We finally hit the TEENS today. We leave in 19 days.

party:
Well, yay for the teens!! :dance3:

Lanyard $3
VIP tour Tip $15
WIW tour Tip $10
Pizza Party approx $10

So does anyone know if we are specifically doing cash at certain restaurants due to the large group or are we all doing seperate checks?
Thanks for answering that Sarah. :thumbsup2

I'd imagine at the really large meals, for example the breakfast, we should plan on cash. Actually, wait. For that one don't you pay ahead of time? I've never been there.
But anyway, for the larger meals, I'd plan on cash. I can't imagine any waiter wanting to do 25-30 different checks. lol
But at HOB last year there were 13 of us, and they did it separate, so if the group isn't too huge, it shouldn't be an issue.
This really isn't answering your question at all is it? :rotfl2:

Basically, if there is someone who only has plastic, then I'd suggest taking the waiter aside early on and letting them know you'll need a separate check.

Beth: do you know what kind of anesthesia they are going to give him? When I broke my wrist a few years ago and had to have pins inserted they gave me something called a "bier block"--it wasn't a general (although I did get "twilight sleep" and wasn't awake at all too. But generally they did something to my arm that was less than a full general. So you might ask about alternatives.

Hugs to you and your family--it will be fine--wait and see. And being a boy he probably won't even notice it!;)
Thanks. No, I don't know. I've got a call in to the doctor to ask a few questions about it. He's not in today so I have to wait until tomorrow. Actually, I'm going to ask what happens if we don't do the surgery. :rolleyes1
But thanks for that info, I will mention that as well.
I find it funny that I had my stomach sliced open and two babies pulled out and was wide awake, but for a tiny bone in his finger he has to be asleep.

Come on ladies!! Where's your team spirit?!?!?! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

So far we only have three teams who have chosen a team name.
We have:
The S&M Girls
The Pixie Chicks
and The Neverland Naughties.

I can't wait to hear some more team names!! :yay:  :cheer2:

We're working on ours but one of our team members is not really been up to it lately (get better soon Molly!). We have a great one in the works, though! Are you dying of anticipation yet?

Sarah

I hear what you're saying. Sometimes, in certain cases, I think putting a patient to sleep is more for the doctor's benefit than it is for the patient's benefit, if you know what I mean.

Justin (my hubby) has had 3 or 4 hernia surgeries in his life. The last one, which was in 1997, happened to be a double hernia surgery. He did not want to be put to sleep for that surgery because, after previous experience, he knew how anesthesia makes him feel sick, gives him headaches, etc. He talked his surgeon into an alternative, which was basically doping him up with happy/sleeping meds and giving him locals to numb the area. So in essence, his stomach was also basically sliced open without him being put to sleep.

And you know I'll be right there with you, being VERY not pretty.
:thumbsup2

That's what I was wondering, especially since Adam is a kid, the doctor might just think that's easier. :confused3 Hopefully he calls me back tomorrow and we can discuss all this. I should have asked him then and there, but of course my brain wouldn't function once I heard the word surgery. All these questions I have didn't crop up until after.

This may sound like a dufus post.. but oh well i'm a dufus.:rotfl:

Doh!!! See, I'm a bigger dufus! I saw your post and thought you wanted totals, not just the amount for tips. I SOOOOO need a nap :surfweb:

I'm working on it! But just so you know, you all can make a decision that I'm sure will be great. I see 8 PMs that are overwhelming me too much to even click on the link to see if they are from my team...

So we just had a potluck at work and they were toasting buns and the toaster caught FIRE!!!! :scared1: Yup! One of the guys picked it up and took it outside so the firealarm wouldn't go off! He just walked past me with this flaming toaster! It was crazy! My cake turned out great, though!
