I give you all warning.....do not have a pre-senior moment while cooking.....very dangerous.....painful.:rolleyes1

I've never left a meat thermometer in the meat while cooking it in the oven; until tonight that is. (Not sure why I changed things up tonight and left the meat thermometer in while cooking. I just did.) When I took the pork roast out of the oven, I wanted to move the thermometer around a little to see how the temperature registered in different areas of the roast.....except my brain forgot that the meat thermometer had been in the oven for the last two hours. Yep, I reached right over with my bare hand and grabbed the thermometer to move it. Ouchy!:headache:

So now my fingers hurt like hell, and I think a permanantly scolded off parts of my prints.

On the plus side, the pork roast was delicious!

On another plus side, I had a chocolate cheesecake flavored Hershey's Kiss just now, and I have to say, it was REALLY good. Go figure. :thumbsup2

Yikes. That must have hurt something awful. On the plus side, I think I may have to try one of those Hershey kisses.

It did hurt something awful. It still hurts. And scrolling down the screen using the wheel on my mouse, well, ouch.:goodvibes

You really should try one of those cheesecake Hershey kisses. I'm not one to really like new candy flavors (or chip flavors either), but the cheesecake kisses are actually really good.

Maybe I should try to find some and bring them to our candy buffet, although I'm not sure how easy they would be to find.:scratchin

The one I ate came out of a pinata from a birthday party that my five year old went to this last Saturday. Gee, I hope you can get them in other ways besides out of a pinata. I don't remember seeing them before, but then I don't shop for candy a lot, so maybe they've been out for awhile and I'm behind the times.

OUCH. But also on the plus side, you can probably commit burglaries now and not have to worry about wearing gloves . . . . . (no fingerprints)

and another "senior" tip--never try to give the cat its pill when you're naked.

off to find chocolate . . . . .

Not a darn thing!

Good because I kind of resemble that remark..:lmao: :rotfl:

So since I am totally bored at work tonight, I just planned a mini vacation to Reno. I have a good friend who lives there and there is an airline that goes from my town to hers with rates at 29 each way plus tax. So for $90 I can go round trip and if I stay with her it won't cost anything. Plus, since it is Friday to Monday I will only need to find child care for saturday for my kids and Nana has been saying she misses them, so I think I am set! Now just have to tell my friend I am coming and possibly bringing another friend with me and book the tickets.

Sarah

I love mini vacations!! How fun. I have never been to Reno.

LOL--actually, I did some internet research one night and the girl who cheated on him is the television news reporter--Christina Gonzales. I think she's on channel 9 (or 11?) I think despite his protestations he really has a self-esteem problem--thus, he has to find the hottest woman he can to make himself feel important. the only way he can get that is to be rich and famous (because otherwise they wouldn't have him). the funny thing is, most "hot" women I know are vain, needy and not very smart (no offense to any of you "hot" Divas who are NOT like that!)

I don't like Dr. Laura either. and I'm sorry Debbie--call it "hang out" if you want to, but it does sound like a date to me too. (now the one who once said to me "maybe we should hook up and ruin a wonderful friendship" --I don't think he wanted a 'date')

woohoo--wild time in Reno. (Well, at least a really fun time!)

Ya, it doesn't sound like he wanted a date...
I like "hanging out" its less complicated...no strings..
but we do enjoy each others company.
Ok, ok so maybe its a somewhat of a date...but not dating...:rolleyes1
We having been hanging out on & off since December.
But he has never met my kids. My kids know about him.
He knows about my kids.
hmmm...

Where is the tag fairy when you need her????

Quite a few do too.

Hi Ladies!
Way to tired to respond to all this chat. But, yeah Wendy for winning. I keep playing, but not winning:confused3

Capri, Sooo Glad for your good IEP. That is a great feeling indeed. We do a504 plan and this year is going really well, and I feel like we are coasting. One more good year , and then we transition again to high school, and we will see:)

Dear Heather, hang in there. Crying is okay in life:)

The big news: I found a Tshirt. Target. Actually, I bought some at Old Navy first, but those things are majorly thin, so will be going back. I bought the XXL and dang the back fat still shows. I will wear a sweater, so am hoping for not too warm of weather. The darn shirt has stretchy stuff in it and that is not the best for transfers, but I threw it on there anyhow. It did not turn out that great, but will do just fine for the picture. The second one I did for BFF turned out much better. Primarily because I trimmed around the design and words, and then peeled the backing off in smaller pieces which did not cause the shirt to stretch. I think we will do just fine.

Okay, that's all for now. Just 4 days before I leave for our family trip. It is looking like mostly rain for us. Yeah for rainsuits!

Oh, Cheryl. You kill me!
I had a pretty good day. I've been writing up proposals for a couple of clients, and then we booked another party for Feb 27. They are expecting 100+ people, so that means I actually get to eat on our girls trip! Yay for a bit of spending money!!!!!
And I watched another 3 episodes of Lost tonight. I don't know how I missed this show when it first came out, but I'm actually glad I did. It is much easier to sit and watch a couple of episodes without commercials.
Well, I think I'm off to bed. Good night, all!:goodvibes

I.AM.SO.HUNGRY!!!!!! I am just picturing myself in DL right now chowing down on a chimichanga or corn dog with some popcorn and one of those fudge pooh sticks....hmmm, that just sounds wrong....oh well, can't wait to eat one anyway!

Sarah

Fudge Pooh Stick? I don't think I'll have one of those.
Alright, now I'm really going to bed.

Stress is getting to me. I can't wait to relax with you all.
:grouphug: I second that.

Things here are stressful too. I took Adam to his appointment for his broken finger thinking they'd tell me just to keep it in the splint until it healed.

I should have known better. He needs surgery!! They scheduled it for Thursday. They have to put him under and then insert pins into his finger, then it's weeks of healing and physical therapy. For a finger!?!?!?! :confused3 :confused3 :sad2:

I'm so upset. None of my kids (nor myself) have had surgery and I'm so scared. Of course I had to play it cool for his sake, but I am freaking out. The thought of him being put under is what scares me. Stuff goes wrong ya know?

Ugh, it just seems like lately it's always something and all these little things are just becoming too much. :sad1:

Anyway, sorry to be a bummer. I feel guilty now going away knowing he could still be recovering or going through therapy. I don't know. I guess we'll see how he does.

I'm so tired. Off to bed. Night all.

Sorry to hear about Adam's finger. I am sure everything will be fine. It is scary when your kid has to have surgery, but trust me, it will be ok. DD had to have surgery on her leg when she broke it. I was freaking out. But it all went well. I work in a children's hospital and those type of surgeries are common place. Not to take it lightly, but its a routine thing. I know its easy for me to say since its not my child and all. Although anything can happen and I know thats what you are worried about, chances are slim to none that it will. It will be fine. Don't let it strees you out too much.

:grouphug: Beth, I am so sorry you had such a bummer day. I know how hard it is to have a child go through this. They had to put Ryder out and intubate him when he was under 2. It was so hard not knowing how it was all going to turn out.

One good thing is that if his surgery is that soon you will have plenty of time to recover and get in a routine with his therapy before the trip and than the trip will be even more important because it will be a rejuvanating experience for you so that you can be just that much more there for him when you are back. It is so important for us to take care of ourselves in order to be able to take care of our families and we as moms so infrequently do that because of guilt that we aren't "being there" for our families. :grouphug: Hugs to you and your son's finger! I will be hoping that everything goes great for you both!

Sarah

Beth  ,

I'm a nurse on an Ortho floor, and know how hard these things can be. I completely understand your worry, and pray that you receive peace in the coming days.

We mothers have to worry about all the things that can go wrong, but we also need to remember that they rarely do. The surgery will be agony for you, and the recovery immediately afterwards will be hard for him. Keep his hand elevated, give him advil or alieve, and maintaim his pain control so that he can recover quickly.

Hang in there Momma! :grouphug:

I also want to add that I think it's great that you doctor wants to do surgery. Sometimes, doctors play the wait and see game, and things go on and on for weeks. This way, Adam gets it over with and on the road to recovery. I like doctors who don't play around. They may not take the easy road, but you know that if they go straight to surgery that it's for the best.

So I got the first pang of "oh my gosh, I am actually going to be in DL in less than a month with a bunch of women, many of whom I have never met before!" I know that I have done one of these before, but it is still kind of crazy! Great, but crazy! I can't tell if I am getting nervous or excited about being in DL. I tell you one thing, the weather had better be great or I will cry!

Sarah

No worries Sarah! Lots of us took a leap to join this group and I have no doubt we will have a great time. I knew no one before I met Jane and Beth for lunch (wooohooooo Vegas DISgirls!!) and sometimes feel out of the loop because I can't keep up with the threads or post as much as I would like to, but I know in a few weeks we will all be having a wonderful time. There is such a great group of ladies in this group.

About the weather....I'm trying to stay positive. But when we went to Disney in October it was around 100 degrees, hotter than it was in Vegas! so I am goung to plan for anything and hope for the best.

Ouch Capri! I'm so sorry about your poor hand. But chocolate makes everything better, doesn't it?? And woooooohoooo I am multi-quoting!!

Beth....I am so sorry you've had to go through so much lately. That really sucks. But I'm sure the surgery will go fine. Please let me know if you need anything. Where is he having it done? You really really really deserve this March vacation, and I'm hoping the rest of your year goes really well because you've had way too much stress this year so far. :grouphug:

As for me, its been a tough week. I'm trying to get final projects done for 2 of my 4 classes. The other 2 won't end until April. Last Thursday I got a panicked call from my husband. One of the neighbor children had come to the door telling him my oldest son was badly beat up at the bus stop. Long story short, we come to find out he was made to sit on the floor in the aisle of the bus because the bus was overcrowded (and then find out this has been going on for weeks, with kids either having to sit on the floor or stand due to lack of seats on the school bus). While he was on the floor, another child who was in a seat started kicking him in the head. Jake tried to get him to stop and it got worse. The bus driver did nothing to stop it, just told them they had to "wait until they got off the bus to fight". Jake had huge lumps on his head from getting kicked/hit in the head. Then he was let off the bus (not even checked to make sure he was ok) to walk home with the children that were hurting him. My husband found him crying with his hoodie pulled over his head hiding behind a car in someone's driveway.

After many days of fighting with the school and transportation office and getting nowhere, I am seriously thinking of pulling him out of school and home schooling him. How? I haven't figured that out yet, but I am beyond pissed. My son is somewhat shy and has never had any problems with school. He loves learning and does really well but since last week he has had trouble sleeping and is afraid to go to school.

So....again.....is it March yet??
