Jordan...believe me..it's nice having a tall man!! I'm a tall woman (5'9"-5'10"..depending on how I'm feeling..lol:lmao:) and it's hard finding men these days that are your height and on your level...well I guess that's any man!!! LMAO!!!!

But, have fun with him and hopefully things will go good!!:thumbsup2

Once again...thanks for all of the warm welcomes!!!

If you guys don't mind, can some of you ladies tell me what you approx spent on this past trip(hotel, tours, food, souvies, etc)? I know everyone will be different, but it's my mom who wants to know all of this stuff....she just doesn't understand how this DIS works....:confused3:sad2::rolleyes1 LOL!!!!

I dont' know how much she's willing to spend...but I'm guessing no more than 1,000 with everything included. I told her not to worry about the hotel because since I work for Crowne Plaza, I get discounts at other hotels in our chain. So my pay will be anywhere from 29-59 plus tax for the rooms!!! So, right there I know we'll save.

She's really good at finding flights for cheap...so we should be good there.

I think this trip will cost me no more than 600-800 my self and I might even bring back some money!!! maybe even less than that!!!:thumbsup2

Sorry for all the questions, but any info would help!!

I don't think I actually spent that much. I have an AP so my park tickets were covered, and I am local, so there was no travel cost involved. Except that gas to go those few blocks. I had 4 roomies (yes, we were 5 to a room) so the room cost was less than $25 a night per person. Very cheap. I ate at a few table service meals and those were between roughly $30-$40. Counter service was generally under $10. I dont' recal if I actually used my credit card or not. I had less than $200 in cash when I left, and came home with a good portion of it. If you buy lots of souvineers and do a lot of table service, then it can get pricey, but it you budget, its not that bad.

ARound $400 for me for the Divas event.

4 days at $45 a day rental of an ECV.
8 trips to Anaheim for $3 a trip is $24
Candy and tote bag was um I do not know but I think $25 to 30.
Notepad and pen for research for personal and board stuff was about 15.
Lara Bars was probably $15 as I eat too many of those.
Ariel's twice and other dining was probably $100 to $150
Popcorn, caramel corn and snack was around $30.

If I am alone in the parks then it usually costs me $45 for the ECV rental, $3 for gasoline to Anaheim, popcorn, and $10 for a cheddarburgrer. Recently instead of a cheddarburger I paid over $50 for veggies, tasty chicken, salad with oil and vinegar, and rice noodles with ketchup at the Blue Bayou.

Some ladies will be grossed out by rice noodles and ketchup. I have sensory issues so I adapted with ketchup the cure for any bad cooking and momma could cook but only on the stove top. She used boxed everything and never made potatos from scratch so ketchup to the rescue.

I should dig out the whole list of foods we ate but wanted to wait for Mary Jo. I loved the salad and the salmon. I just kept watching all this food coming, plate after plate and I am a slow eater so that did not help.

Lara got for dessert a chocolate orange cake that was about the size of a chocolate Little Debbie's cake and kind of looked like one. There was red berries with syrup all over plate in a decorative manner and on the side was a little waffle like saucer with coconut sorbet. Lara and Chris had fun tasting all the dots around the plate as the chef had dotted the edge of the plate with different flavoured syrups.

The California roll is a something I love big time. I do not do seaweed, avocado, or crab but oh I can sit and eat a whole roll. the bottom picture is like the one I got.

Welcome new Divas!!

MamaKate--Welcome back! Your kids are all gorgeous! I can't believe how big your son has gotten this last year!

Stacerita--I think you need a day in the spa with some steam baths and relaxation massages. Feel better soon!

Wendy--Why don't you think of all horrible things you want to do to Vin Disney while you're doing a three mile walk today. And no stopping for beer and fries this time. ;)

Tracey and other WISHers--Come on back to the WISH boards! We're friendly...Even Vin Disney. ;)

And everybody else: have a great weekend!!! :wizard::wizard::wizard:
I feel so badly that I can't keep up with this thread and am awed by those of you can and respond to everyone so well and thoughtfully!

I'm doing well here. As an update, I did end up getting 100 DVC points at the Grand Californian. My DH finally gave in (an unexpected tax rebate also helped...) Got $8 off per point, plus 2 DL Premium APs as incentives. Fortunately, it's going to take some weeks to get those APs or else I'm sure I'd be finding a way to get down there for DS's spring break or birthday in April

My son is off this week for break. No plans for this week (and I'm working, so childcare is going to be fun to figure out). We did go to San Francisco for a Giants/As exhibition game and spent the night in the city for a "mini-vacation" last night. It was good fun. Although, we didn't make it two innings until my DS (who ate way too much junk) said he HAD to leave because he wasn't feeling well. Fortunately, we only paid $5/seat for the tickets.

Oh, and don't forget to sign up for the Disneyland 5K!! And let us know if you're coming!!

Hey everyone. I'm at Home Depot waiting for some paint. DB and his friend are painting our house today. They sent me on a paint and lunch run. If I can get out of painting when I get home I plan to watch Twilight. We watched Fast and Furious last night. All the shows were sold out so we had to see it at 10:40pm. I thought it was just ok. There was too much drama and not enough cars.

Hi Deb! :wave2:

Hey, don't worry about the height thing. My hubby is 6'6" and I'm 5'3". It works for us. :thumbsup2

(Okay, I'll admit I have gotten a few kinks in my neck from time to time.....and we were a challenge for our wedding photographer.)

Oh I bet! Most of the people I date are taller than me. Although Mark is the tallest. He seems to be doorway challenged. HAHA!!

Sarah have fun with the painting! Yum Subway.

We are off to 2 birthday parties right now. One at the bowling alley & the other at Chico's. It should be a fun afternoon.

I'm trying to catch up. I've been busy with school, so I haven't been on as much lately.

Katie - Yay, you're coming next year!!!!! :woohoo:

Hey Capri~ What are you going to school for??

I know the third trip is still a long way away, but I really need something to look forward to right now. Hope you're planning on being there again

Have a good time at the movies!

Nope, never forgotten.
Hope you had fun in WDW. It's always hard to come back to reality. I love your sig pics. Your whole family is just adorable.

I am very sorry about your job. It's tough right now for so many families, but knowing that still doesn't make it any easier when it happens to you.

Michelle is in Vegas! She leaves tonight though. It was nice to see her. She's been having a great time with her DH and some friends.

Awe, you're making me blush .

We had a good time in WDW. My sister and her family went with us (the blondie in the pics is my niece).

I was reading the thread for the Vegas girls meet and I'm sorry I'm missing that one too. I'd love to see the "Thunder from Down Under" with all the ladies

Thanks for the compliments Jen :flower3:. And yes, my son is going like a weed (and he also eats like a horse).

I think I may need to join the WISH board. I gained a lot of weight with this pregnancy and I'm having a hard time loosing it. I need to get a little more motivated before the summer gets here

Congrats on buying into the Grand. I was planning on adding on points there, but then I lost my job :headache:. Hopefully I'll still be able to use some of my AKV points to enjoy a few nights there. But since there aren't that many rooms, there may not be rooms available during the 7 month window. I can hope ;).

I am setting here nodding off when the power went off for a whole 1 second. I wonder if that was a sign. I had to wait for the computer to restart. Next month I am planning on trying the new barbecue.

===================
3 pm and I called Chase about my Visa card. You are allowed one payment every two days if you are using separate methods of payment and once every 3 days if you use the same method of payment.

In other words, I paid Chase $282 from my bank account at Bank of America on the 2nd. On the 3rd I made another payment of $1000. I now have $400 available credit on my Chase and cannot access the other $1000 until the 6th. I spoke to the manager and she gave me 10 Disney Rewards for the confusion. It would not matter if it was coming out of BofA except I want them Disney Rewards and got 18 the first month.

I am too sleepy to scream but it is silly that I cannot use my bofA account to pay my credit card bill more than once every 3 days. I do not want more credit because I do not want more than I can handle. I cannot use that $400 in case of emergencies. What if the car breaks down and I need a rental or what if I need to fix the house. I have not had a credit card since the bankruptcy about 10 years ago.

I am having a wonderful weekend that started with Yamabuki and I got to meet Mrs. Puentes who is Jose's momma. The people at Rosewood treat me like family and put up with my neurovariations. Very kind people and Jose is so nice to me and has a heart of gold. His momma is about 80 years old and her skin is so much like my grandmother's. Imelda translated for me and momma said her kids were the best and I agreed. She thought I was Jose's wife then found out I was a friend. She told me to tell Jose to stop drinking. lol. She does not remember me from her past visits so I am like a stranger to her yet she tells me to tell her 50 year old son to not drink so much.

Anyway also Sara I wanted to say I am so sorry about what happend to your son.

Thanks Kelly...sorry about your car! What a bummer! I would be livid! So after my son's close call, we were at McD's yesterday with my mom and my DD almost choked to death on a piece of apple. My mom gave her a piece without asking me. I would have said no because she is too little for foods like that. I am so on edge. And on top of that the airline that I am booked on to Reno to see my friend in May has decided to stop doing that route...the DAY I WAS FLYING! I can reschedule for earlier or be refunded. We shall see.

Sarah

I am having lunch with a friend at Bahama Breeze next week. What did you have? Any recommendations?
I had the Jerk Chicken Pasta: Sliced jerk chicken breast, fresh asparagus and mushrooms tossed in a rich parmesan-herb cream sauce with bow-tie pasta. It was so good. There is a pic of it here: http://www.bahamabreeze.com/menus/lunch/lunch_specialties.asp

I can't remember what the other had. Oh, Michelle ordered a Bahamarita: Our signature frozen margarita with Cuervo Gold Tequila and real kiwi, mango and strawberry ices. There is also a pic of that under the drinks section. She let me have a sip and it was pretty good! It's so cute because it comes with a little shot attached to the side.

I spent around $700-$800. Not sure exactly. But I didn't do any tours, and didn't have airfare.

As an update, I did end up getting 100 DVC points at the Grand Californian.
:yay: Good for you!!

Hey everyone. I'm at Home Depot waiting for some paint. DB and his friend are painting our house today.
Ugh, I hate Home Depot, Lowe's, places like that. They bore me to tears. lol
I hope you get to watch Twilight. Thanks for the review on the movie.

We are off to 2 birthday parties right now. One at the bowling alley & the other at Chico's. It should be a fun afternoon.
Have fun!!

I wish you could come to Vegas. It's going to be so much fun. :dance3:

Come on over to the WISH thread. Everyone is so supportive, and I know you can do it. :cheer2:

Oh man Sarah. I always used to worry about my kids choking when they were little. How scary.

That sucks about your Reno trip. Maybe you can tell your friend you'll meet her in Vegas in June. :rolleyes1

So I took almost a 5 hour nap today and probably still could have slept longer. I slept in till almost 10am. Sat around for a while, showered, watched a show on tivo, then got my dogs to come nap with me. My dogs are the best napping partners in the world.

Hi everybody! I am home from WDW--yesterday was a long day! I finally got home at 10:45 p.m. California time--which felt like 1:45 a.m. Florida time!

All in all it was a great trip--I totally fell in love with Saratoga Springs resort having somewhat experienced some of the other resorts this time. Of course, I still want to try the others, but I love the openness and tranquility of SSR. I still have not seen Animal Kingdom Lodge (cancelled my Jiko dinner).

I'm hoping to start downloading my photos later and have a small trip report started later too.

In the meantime--hi to all the "old" Divas and "hi and welcome" to all the new Divas.

Stacie: scary scary scary!! :scared1: Stories like that (where you got shuttled around) are really frightening. What a creep that guy was!

LOL . I'm just a big fan of the DL that I remember as a teen. I hate change, especially when they take out my favorites. One being Bear Country Jamboree, and replace it with that lame Pooh ride. Ok, thats my gripe of the day ! As for pins, I have about 80 and lots of traders.

That's exactly how I felt about Country Bears. A little down time to relax before heading back out to the crowds. When we took my Mom when my kids were little it was "Grandmas place to sit for a while" and of course the show was great.

I definitely made sure to see Country Bear Jamboree at WDW--I totally miss it at DL. Sorry to any Pooh lovers, but I think that ride is just so lame too. The one negative I will say is that it was FREEZING in there! In fact, it rained earlier and I got a little wet--I started to go in and I knew I was going to be miserable, so waited till I dried out and then enjoyed it much more.

Oh, and the Tiki Room at WDW is awful!! what a disappointment and waste of space. I didn't see it last time, so wanted to this time and I wish I hadn't bothered. Never again--unless they change it.

And I didn't make Carousel of Progress this time either--but wish they would bring that back to DL. I did ride the Tomorrowland Transit Authority (aka PeopleMover) TWICE and loved it! I made sure to ride it because it's supposed to be down for a while because they are re-doing WDW's Space Mountain.

Ok, later gators!

Hi Cheryl!
Let me be the first to say WELCOME HOME!
We missed you and thought of you everyday. Can't wait to hear more about your trip. I know what you mean about the flight home. In January we left MCO at 3 pm, were delayed at our stop in Denver and didn't land in ONT until almost 10 pm (1 am FL time) and it seemed like the travel day from hell that was never going to end....Get some rest and check in later.;)

Glad to see you hope Cheryl! Can't wait for all the details and pics.

I will say that I do enjoy Pooh ride. I think its cute. But I always see Country Bears when I go to WDW. I do miss them. Tiki room.....its nice when its hot outside and you need some down time. But not something I go out of my way to see. I enjoy it here at DL though. Not everytime. And I can never get enough of TTA.

Looking forward to reading a trip report. Or maybe just a cliff note version. Welcome Home!

Hi there and welcome back! Glad you had a great time! I am one of the newbies. We were in Orlando almost the same time, March 24 - 31st. My DBF had to go there for work a week ago and we went to the parks last weekend. I worked while we were in MCO as well but it was soooo hard to resist going to the parks in the middle of the week! Since we only had two days at the parks we went to MK on Sat. and we made sure to do everything that we can't do at DL. We too are huge fans of Country Bear Jamboree! We spent Sunday at EPCOT and had a great relaxing day enjoying a couple of adult beverages...the Grand Marnier slushies at France are the best!! We also saw Paul Revere and the Raiders. Did you happen to seem them? We didn't really plan to see them but thought if we were in the neighborhood during one of their show times we'd stop in. They were a lot of fun, Paul is 71 yo! :rotfl: I didn't remember a lot of their songs except when they played their last song Indian Reservation and I had no idea that they sang that song. Sorry this was a little longer than I had planned but once I start talking WDW I just can't shut up!!!:scared1:

So I took almost a 5 hour nap today and probably still could have slept longer. I slept in till almost 10am. Sat around for a while, showered, watched a show on tivo, then got my dogs to come nap with me. My dogs are the best napping partners in the world.
Wow, you must have really needed the rest to sleep that long. I'm glad you were able to do that.

Speaking of dogs, did you see Marley and Me? I remember we were talking about it when it was in the theater around Christmas. We finally rented it.
I'm so glad I didn't take the twins to see it! Too many references about sex for them to see. And plus the ending was just too sad. They would have been bawling. It was a cute movie though. Seeing a dog like that though, reinforces why I'm a cat person. :rotfl2:

Hmmm, note to self: Google Paul Revere and the Raiders. :rolleyes1
I have no clue who they are. :confused3 :rotfl:

No, we never went to see it. I knew the ending was gonna be sad so I didn't want to see it. And that dog did look to be a bit on the naughty side. Thankfully my dogs are just lazy. Works well for me.

HI everyone!!

I have been sooooooooooo busy the last few days. I wish I had time to catch up, and see what is going. I did see enough on the last page to welcome the newbies, and welcome Cheryl home!! Also enough to wonder what happened to Stacie and Sarah's DD?

I leave tomorrow for Vegas around 6:00am, and I haven't even begun to pack. THe last couple of days have been taken up by track meets and a volleyball tournanment all day today.

Beth, I will give you a call if I get a moment.

Take care all!

Melody

Hmmm, that's what I would need. A lazy dog to just chill with me all day.

Sounds good. I'm going to PM you my home number since I don't have a cell. The cell I had for the trip was actually my DD's. But if you are too busy, I understand. You've got your family with you and only a short amount of time here, so it's all good. Enjoy Phantom! :)
