*Girls DL Trip* OLD THREAD

Afternoon all!

I am back from the first day of the meet. WHEW!! It is SOOOO hot. It is about 109 outside and was 112 in our car when we got in it! Told shane he HAS to remember the sun shade tomorrow. It was smokin when we got in it and we couldn't even touch the seatbelts to put them on. UGH!

It was a LONG day and we left before it was even over! We got to the meet right around 6 and Katy was in the first event. She did fairly well but she was bummed cuz she didn't get first of course. I don't remember what she got in the heat but it really doesn't matter because only first place gets anything. She took 57th overall out of 100 girls so not too bad for her 1st year of swimming the IM. She got REALLY nervous though and actually started hyperventilating so it got hard for her to even finish. But she did and I am proud of her. She did knock some time off her seed time! Her orig time was 2:07 and she did it today in 1:58.

Then they swam the 25 free and Shelby got 36th out of 100. I don't remember what she got in her heat but again neither of them took first. But both of them dropped their times. Shelby went from 21.56 down to 21.31 and Katy went from 18.79 to 17.90. She was 49th overall out of 100.

Last they swam backstroke. Unfortunately they both took close to last in their heats and Shelby even increased her time a bit but Katy did drop hers a bit. But she was just absolutely besides herself. She really wanted to win a heat or get into the finals (which was never going to happen) and to make matters worse she didn't get in the medley relay either. That was her one chance to get SOME kind of medal or something. So she was REALLY upset and crying and saying she wanted to quit swim and on and on. She does this EVERY year when she does badly so it was really upsetting to have her act this way but we still have tomorrow. They both do fairly well in the 50 free so hopefully they will do ok and then they each have their good strokes. Breast for Shelby and butterfly for Katy. So hopefully they will do better tomorrow!!

We also don't know if they will make it into the freestyle relay but somehow I doubt it after today.

Anyway it has been a LONG hot day so I am going to go take a COLD shower LOL. Hope everyone had a good day and thanks for all the well wishes. I am off AGAIN tomorrow bright and early.

It's good to be home! Got back yesterday, and we have all been sleeping like it's going out of style. I'm finally feeling caught up on rest.

I'm lost on the boards though. Tracey posted a picture of her boys in a hospital bed on FB. What's going on with her? Prayers being sent her way.

The big excitement in our house was that the car Bruce drove up to Phoenix with Nolan almost broke down on them on Wed. Bruce was a nervous wreck when he got to the hotel. He was scared that he was going to be stuck on the side of the road in 119 degree heat with our baby (17 months).

So....we went and got a van! I'm officially a mom now! Actually I really like it. It's a 2006 Dodge Caravan, and has almost all the bells and whistles. Only thing it lacks that I would've watned was a DVD player. We'll live without it though, it's not like the boys are that hooked on tv yet. I'm excited to have a 'new' vehicle, but not so excited about having a car payment again. Oh, and I love that there are vents on the boys now. I don't feel like I'm committing child abuse when I put them in a hot car anymore.

All of this drama caused me to miss out on dining with Stacie Thursday night though. I was so looking forward to seeing her again, and trying some of the wine she picked up. By the time we found a place to send the broken down car to, it was too late to drive out to her side of town. Too bad she couldn't have met us, but it wasn't meant to be this trip around. I'm hoping to see her again soon though...(Oct trip?).

It looks like everyone had a good time Thursday night. Happy belated birthday to Bridgette! You all do look beautiful in that pic, such Divas.

Talk with everyone later!

Oh, and for those of you curious. Nathan's meltdowns have dropped at least by 75%, and he will actually answer questions now! :goodvibes I've also gotten him out of the high chair, and sitting at the table eating. He didn't do that last week! I thank God for the autism center in Phoenix. I think they have changed our lives for the better. What a wonderful place. We were chosen for the intense part of the research trial. I was given a video camera, and I have to record us doing this for 15 minutes 3 times a week. I then get feedback and suggestions for the next time. I'm excited to know that I have another 3 months of help ahead of me. I'm actually feeling optimistic about school now! :thumbsup2

Good evening ladies! I hope you've all had a good day so far.

I've only skimmed back so hopefully I didn't miss anything too important. I'm exhausted after being out most of the day running errands with Noelle. It was so hot out, we were both miserable. Ick.

Have a good night. Talk to y'all later or tomorrow. :)

HI ladies! I had a long post typed out the other day, and as I was posting it, lost it. Ugh.

Anyway, I know it's been forever since I've checked in. I've been so busy unpacking and just enjoying our new surroundings that the DISboards have been put on the backburner. That and the fact that a Disney trip is not planned for anywhere in our immediate future, it's a little difficult to hang out here where everyone is talking about their trips.

So, I just wanted to check in and say if y'all want to keep up with me, you can catch me on facebook. Just search for me under my name "Callie Sirak". I'll check in periodically, but won't be as regular as I used to be.

Hope y'all have a great time planning next year's trip. I look forward to joining you in 2012! :cutie:

Love and hugs to all,

Callie

I recently filled out an application and on the application there was a spot to check if you were in the "protected age" which was 40 and above!:sad2:

I was just thinking about you. I'm so happy to hear you're getting settled in. We've missed you A LOT around here!

How do you like the northwest and your new place so far? Is it wonderful?.....just okay?......awful?

What!?!?! You're not making another Diva trip (or any trip) to DL until 2012?!!! What's up with that? :confused3

You girls can rack up some pages in no time at all.

Started this weekend off with a carwash for high school cheer. Tomorrow we are having a cheer family taco feed at our house and then the cheerleaders are staying the night and getting up early for camp on Monday and we are driving over to drop them off at Ellensburg. I probally won't get a breather until Tuesday morning! My husband thinks I need to learn how to say no but they are only young once and in 3 years she will be off to college I hope!:rotfl:

Heather that's great news about the study!!! I hope you get a lot of positives out of it. Congrats on the "new" van!!!!!

Hi everyone, just spending a hot day at home (like always)...... thank God for air conditioning!! Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

That is all great news about the van and Nathan! So happy for you guys that you are getting some help and some hope!

Just to clarify, it is my son's bff and also one of my dearest friends little boys that has just been diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. He also has some anxiety and it has been very hard on him learning to deal with the pokes. Nathan really wanted to be with him, and Jack really wanted him there, so we went when we could. They are finally home tonight though! Yeah!

I recently filled out an application and on the application there was a spot to check if you were in the "protected age" which was 40 and above!:sad2:

So glad I am protected:scared1:

Layla is such a cutie!

Cheryl~ You are always getting growled at! I miss ya lady! I am glad you had and Bella had a great time at the dog park!
Miss ya too! And yes, I get growled out--actually, I got growled at today . . . . .sorta. We'll have to keep each other company when Marcie and others are in Vegas and we're not!

Thanks for the compliment. :)
As for the next organized Vegas trip, I'm not really sure. There has been some talk of doing a quick one over Thanksgiving. Theresa, Marcie and Debra were talking about coming back then. But that would just be a quickie for those who didn't have other holiday plans.

Well, I'm not a real Woody and Jesse fan so it's no biggie to me.

I like the idea of Thanksgiving! Will need to bring Mom though.

And I don't think Woody and Jessie not being there will be a big deal--they have musical entertainment still.

I read about this through Mouseplanet's twitter update. I love using twitter for my Disney addiction :lmao:
I'm clueless about Twitter.

So I did something really stupid at the beach today. I fell asleep! I was feeling really worn out from my busy week, so the nap felt great. However, my extremely bright red burn covering the back of my legs is killing me right now!!!!!

:scared1:

Hmm? I'm anxious to hear about the new BBQ! I personally think this was a wise move on their part. Now Dave will think it's a good place to eat, as he lovesssssssss BBQ.........before he would not even think about paying extra to see Woody and Jessie! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Actually, I think this is a quote from Melody--I did something wrong. But see below about the BBQ. I think it will be a good place for him.

I'm glad to hear that bella liked the dog park. I think it's good for dogs to socialize. Our dog never gets to socialize with other dogs, and at this point I fear what would happen if all of a sudden she did get to socialize. She wouldn't know what to do, and she may even feel threatened and try to bite another dog. She would definitely have to wear a muzzle for a while until she became accustomed to being around other dogs without feeling threatened.

And what are you talking about......old lady??!! You are NOT old!

LOL--well, I think I'm the second oldest regular Diva (i.e., not counting Moms)

I warned you about the baby and food . She's a little piggy. She was really drawn to you (you must have a good spirit or she just wanted your fish :confused3:laughing:).

She loved all the Divas and enjoyed all the attention :lovestruc.
I'm going to say it's my spirit and not my food!

I'll keep an eye out for you. They email me specials all the time, but I usually don't pay attention, because we're not interested in going right now.

But I'll let you know what I find.
I'll keep my eyes open too.

Yay--I'm protected!

You girls can rack up some pages in no time at all.

During "busy season" (i.e., right before the trip) we can rack up 20 pages or more in a day . . . . .

Ok girls, I am home from Disneyland/DCA. It was HOTTTTTT. and Humid. but not too crowded for a July Saturday.

The BBQ was ok--not spectacular in my opinion. They served:

Slaw: this was pretty good--very fresh with a vinegar type dressing rather than a mayonnaise based dressing.

Beans: these actually were very good (and I'm not a bean fan)--a little spicy maybe

Cornbread--yummo! Little loaves with "real corn" in it--(as the waiter put it--none of that fake corn stuff)

Ribs: passable, IMO. I only had one--it was tender enough--but honestly if they didn't tell me it was pork I couldn't really tell. Not like I make.

chicken: this was better--but a little spicy

corn on the cob--they cut them in about 1-inch chunks so it was easy to eat.

It is my understanding that all of the above will continue to be served.

The dessert was a celebration cupcake--which is a cupcake in a waffle cone with a filling in the middle and on top. I had chocolate with chocolate mousse and it was actually pretty good--the mousse wasn't too sweet. They also had a red velvet with cream cheese frosting/filling and a white cake with strawberry and something else I don't remember. If you can't eat dairy they have fruit. This will not be a part of the meal going forward--it has to be ordered separately--I'm not sure if I would.

The entertainment was Woody and Jessie walking around and then Miss Chris--the ranch owner, singing along with a guy on guitar and a guy on piano. They picked on our group (not that we didn't love it) especially one guy named Joe who became Miss Chris' "special" victim. It was really fun. We were there a couple of hours and never felt rushed--they would bring out as much food as you wanted and refilled our drinks often. After this weekend Woody and Jessie will no longer be there but Miss Chris and the others are supposed to be.

So, now I've showered, and I'm tired=--may try to take a little nap. I played with Bella some when I got home and will probably play more with her.

Later gators!

Thanks so much Katie. We really appreciate it.

The last time I went to Universal Studios was back in 1980, so I'm sure it's very different now. Our boys are finally at an age where they think it looks like fun (and they LOVE all the movies the attractions are based on, like Terminator, Shrek, The Mummy, etc) so I thought it might be fun to do something different than Disneyland for a day. But geesh, they are kind of expensive in this economy. I see they are running a "Buy 1 day, get a second day free" promo, but who in the heck goes to Universal twice during a vacation? Is there that much to do there? From what I hear, it's not a two day park because there's just not that much to do there. Seems like a silly promo to me if that's the case.

Anyway, I figured they might offer special ticket deals in the local area, and if that's the case, I was just wondering what the deals are and where we need to go to get them.

I'll keep my eyes open too.

Thanks for keeping your eyes open for any good Universal deals for me and my clan.

Sounds like a nice dinner - YUMMO! Glad you had a fun time. :thumbsup2

Hey everyone!
I had work today from 12pm - 5pm. I arrived home to a HOT house! We don't have any a/c so our house is like 592884095 degrees! Anais and I put on our swimsuits and played with this little water hockey (like air hockey) in the backyard. We only played a little bit and the rest of the time we layed on the mat because it's connected to the hose and sprays water. We were outside for a good 30 minutes. Then I changed into dry clothes, packed up the laptop and headed over to Starbucks, where I am enjoying their FREE wi-fi and a/c! :thumbsup2 My sister is working right now so I occassionally wave to her as she is making frappacinos and lattes.

SO the tattoo bug has bit me  I'm drawing up lots of ideas for possible tattoos.
I'm most likely getting this on my left wrist/forearm because I have this triangular-shaped burn, courtesy of a cookie sheet, I want to cover up.

I have some other ones but I'm just sketching them out at the moment. If I get all the ones I'm thinking about I need to save up a nice bundle of money. I'm going to use them as rewards for losing weight. I plan on getting my first when I reach the 25lbs lost milestone.

Were your ears burning? We were talking about you at RFC and saying how perfect you'd be as Mary Poppins! :goodvibes
Why thankyou. I think it would be fun to be her. A little on the old side, but oh well.

Mel--I can't wait to see you in October!
Thankyou Tina! You too!!:goodvibes

Yep!!! And I hope it's a bit cooler today too.... It gets so hot inside that it's like working in a sauna :scared1: Not fun.
So................What is your temperature these days? Somehow, I don't think it is quite as hot as here. :headache:

Hi ladies!!!!
Hi pretty girl! :cutie:

It's good to be home!
Hi Heather! Congrats on your new vehicle and Nathan's great progress. :goodvibes

HI Callie! Good to hear from you. :goodvibes

Who wouldn'at be scared of all those pokes at 5 years old? Poor thing. I hope everyone feels better when they get home. But I know that it will be scary for them for awhile.

I'm clueless about Twitter.

Me too.

OOh...........what a great report. It all sounds pretty good. Especially the cornbread. Have you guys ever served it slathered with butter and maple syrup? Yummo! :cloud9:

Hi Capri! :flower3:

I cannot express enough how much I am in LOOOOOVE :love: with living in the Pacific Northwest. I love Whidbey and the house is awesome.

Yep, I'm on an official Disney hiatus until at least 2012. I'm honestly not even missing it (yet). I think I burned myself out a bit, and am excited about doing lots of vacationing and exploring up here.

Thanks for the hugs, sweetie! You really oughtta get on FaceBook! It's all sorts of fun. :hippie:

Why

Have never had maple syrup on cornbread--I usually stick with honey!

so, what that means is that Tina is going to have your boyfriend all to herself for three years????? Tina--are you listening?

And Capri--yes, get on Facebook. (Just don't get addicted to FarmTown like I am--I was up harvesting at 2 a.m.)

!

Thanks for the report. Your take on the food is very close to mine. I seem to recall the old BBQ restaurant there had beef ribs. Anyone else remember that?

I would not order the cupcake dessert if it was separate. What has been difficult about the new restaurant is the uneveness... some guests are told to order more and then take home food while others have not been offered this option at all. We assumed we had to eat our cupcakes there and we would have preferred to take them home.

Hi Capri! :flower3:

I cannot express enough how much I am in LOOOOOVE :love: with living in the Pacific Northwest. I love Whidbey and the house is awesome.
:

That area is sooo beautiful. I envy you. You've waited so long for this, it must be especially sweet.

Cute pic, Angie! I know what you mean - I would much rather take the picture than be in it....... :rolleyes1

What a beautiful group of Divas!!! Laila is too cute (ALMOST makes me want another - almost.............)

!

Yes, Angie, make that two.

Theresa, what you cannot see in the photo is her disposition. She has the best disposition of any baby. She sits there like a little person, all happy. Okay, so she growled at Cheryl a little, but otherwise, she's really quite amazing. I wish I could order one of her.

Heather - what an adventure! It was great to hear about Nathan and his progress.

Morning all. Once again crack of dawn here. Don't have time to read so hope everyone is ok. ((hugs)) to all! Today is 50 free, breast stroke and Fly! I can pretty much guarantee that the girls won't get the free relay again so technically we could leave after the fly but Shane has to judge till the VERY end. I am SO bummed cuz our friends that made finals yesterday were there till almost 8 last night! UGH! Plus today is the end which means clean up etc. It is going to be awful!!! Everyone is going to be tearing down and trying to get out of there etc etc. It was SO flippin hot yesterday and it is supposed to be a scorcher again today! NOT looking forward to having to be there that long. UGH. Esp when my girls will prob be done by 3 again. And esp since when Katy didn't do well she had a MAJOR meltdown. I wish she wouldn't do that. She is SUCH a good swimmer and it is so hard to see her get upset like that. She just doesn't understand that she is STILL doing well by dropping her times etc but when you are swimming against 100 swimmers not everyone is going to be in the top 10. She takes it SO personally! Anyway I am in for a LOOONG day. Hope everyone has a good one and see y'all tomorrow!

Good morning...drive by! I'm off to Boy Scout camp only for the day...I even have my own BS t-shirt...hmmmm....never thought I'd see this day since I only have a daughter. Wish me luck and patience with 12 Boy Scouts! Oh...BobScout is going so I'm not alone in this but he is just a BIG Boy Scout!!

I'll read back later tonight to catch up!

Have a great day!
