*Girls DL Trip* OLD THREAD

The only place we can think of is the dogs that live behind us. Their 2 dogs and ours play through the chain link fence, if that makes sense. I have to go over there tomorrow to let them know. Josh mentioned that they've had another dog over there (that comes and goes) so it might have been him.

Parvo virus can persist in the enviornment for a long long time, up to a year or so if conditions are good. Luckily UV light will kill it,so it doesn't survive as well in S. California as well as, say OHIO. Vaccination is very effective, so if the neighbors dogs or the "friend" who comes over are adults and well vaccinated, there is no way they shared with Vash, so unless they are pups too, and not completely vaccinated. (at least 2, 3-4 weeks apart with the last being at at least about 15-16 weeks) they are safe.

Puppies generally catch parvo by going places other pups have been, not even all that recently. It is fecal/oral in transmission, so puppy sniffs ground where poop one time was, licks nose, PARVO!!!
Dog parks, high traffic dog areas, pet store floors, all are good places to get parvo.

Oh, I also know what propriaception means too!!!

Good luck Steph!

Oh, and Dawn...I am so horrified to hear about you SIL. Tragic.

And Kelly...what a horrid story about your drowning. I am a total water baby, as is my DD. My DD has an awesome backstroke, but isn't feelling the love on team. I don't want to be one of thsoe parents that force my kid to do something she hates. So we are trying water polo next. My DD is a super powerhouse strong swimmer, regularly swims laps with me...and easily does a mile!!! So, maybe water polo is the thing for her. I only worry that she will have trouble visually..has to wear Rx googles!!!

Talk to you all soon!!

Oh Steph. I hope your doggie gets better soon! It's really heartbreaking when we see our pets get sick. :(

Tracey!!! Yay for tball being over 'cause I miss you sister! I can't wait to see you next month!

Oh my gosh, just realized it is next month! Oh yeah! Me too!! I am dreaming of my massage!

and where did you find it? It wasn't in my MouseSavers email . . . . only WDW stuff.

OH, I saw that Bridgett answered that question. Chase emailed us that offer. I was dying to book something!

Oh Steph...poor puppy. Hope he will be better soon.

Deb! I feel you in regards to baseball! Sure hope your surgery goes well.

I sure wish that I was going to Vegas this month though!

Good Morning! :goodvibes:

Hope you all had a great weekend. My bf and I tried to watch Up in 3-D and even went to two different theaters. Unfortunately, all tickets were sold out and there were huge lines at the box office. We tried to use the kiosk machines (which are MUCH faster) but they weren't working properly. We decided to watch Night at the Museum 2 instead, which wasn't bad. Hank Azaria was funny :thumbsup2

My older sister watched Up and she told me it made her cry. I was shocked because she's always the "tough" one who rarely cries.

We are going to see UP as a family this weekend or next week and my little sister is pretty sensitive, I hope it's not too sad.

NATM 2 was SO funny! I love Hank Azaria! Especially when he makes fun of Darth Vader.

Hi everyone! It's pretty late over here but I really wanted to catch up on the thread before we started another one and I'd be completely lost.

I'm sending out prayers to everyone with health issues and their puppies (Steph, I hope your dog gets better soon!) Thankfully my family is all relatively healthy (and my dog, too). My mom does have a heel spur and might need surgery but we're not worrying about that in addition to school during finals week!

I'm in way over my head with debt. I owe about 4k in credit card and owe my dad $500 bucks. I hate life right now to say the least. It's really hard to get a job right now. I have applied to Babies R Us, Advance America (pay advances), and Magic Mountain. Tomorrow Stater Bros. is having a hiring from 10am-3pm so I'll be going over there after class. I'm also applying to Costco and other places. I have to email the city office and see if they have any events coming up where they could possibly use me. I wish I could move out already that way I would be immediately available to work at Disneyland or somewhere else in the Fullerton/Anaheim area. I'm in need of serious prayers. So it's really hard to remain positive about me going to this girls' trip but I'm definitely doing my best to get rid of this damn debt and celebrate being debt free (or close to it!) by going on the our upcoming trip.

School is ending this Thursday, praise the LORD! I have a final tomorrow and three finals on Thursday.

Friday we are having a graduation party (Fiesta theme!) at our house with Carne Asada, Carnitas, and all that jazz with games and a pinata :goodvibes

I better finish up rewriting these notes and head to bed.

Morning all!

First off Steph I am so sorry about your puppy! Prayers and good thoughts to him! I believe that is what happened (it was one of those diseases LOL, I'm pretty sure it was parvo) to my parents dog when they first got him. He was a purebred schnauzer that they bought from a breeder and after they got him he came down with it and they had a heck of a time dealing with it but he came through and lived a VERY long healthy life!

And deb here's hoping that your knee surgery goes well. I have bad knees as well and fear someday I will need surgery. My cartiledge is shot and both my knees sound like rice crispies when I bend them. If I do too much walking they REALLY ache. I will be thinking of you and praying all goes well!

To all those with sports ending I envy you. For us it is JUST the begining but we just came off our break though. Although we never really get breaks though LOL cuz it is ALWAYS something. We have girl scouts all during the school year as well as Awana (the church thing) and both of those are ending in the next week or so but then swim started in March and goes through August and then soccer starts the very next week and goes through Nov and we get a month or so off and then the girls want to do basketball this year. UGH! So it NEVER ends. But they love it so I deal cuz they are only young for so long and they will be gone before you know it. :)

Anyway yesterday I picked up Shelby and she got 4th in the spelling bee. So I am very proud of her. Today they have field day at school which is basically a play day so they are excited about that. And then at swim last night I found out that they might move the pics because some of the suits have not come in. I am SO hoping they do because then I don't have to stress about trying to do them both on the same day!

Anyway today I have nothing going on except cleaning house and tonight is swim and that's bout it. I am SO looking forward to next week and sleeping in although the girls argue EVERY morning so I am NOT looking forward to THAT part LOL although perhaps when they aren't in a hurry to get to school maybe it will be a little better (fingers crossed) eh probably not LOL. They are at that age. Ah well I have lots of plans though. We are going to start taking walks to the post office and the park and walking the dog so I will keep them busy! ;)

Anyway that's bout it for me. Hope everyone has a GREAT day!

Magical thoughts and wishes for the speedy recovery of your puppy Steph!

The kids are having fun together despite their age difference (or maybe even because of it). Stephie is having a great time hanging out with her cousin and has been a great help with bathtime, getting Ty in and out of his carseat, etc. Now, if only I could get her to change diapers...:thumbsup2

Anyhow, we leave for Disneyland in just about 2 hours. I am trying to time our travel around Ty's naptime. He normally sleeps from 11:30-2:00ish at school, so if we leave around 10 I figure that he'll be asleep by the time we hit Baker and then will (hopefully) wake up right around Anaheim. And, Ty woke up super early this morning, so I am hoping that will also help contribute to a long sleep in the car. As for Stephie, she will have her Ipod and gameboy, so she should be fine!

I will try to post a few updates each night, but don't know how much reading back I will get to do... Have a great rest of the week!!!:cloud9:

Ohmygosh Steph.. Parvo is so bad.. it is also an airborne disease as we lost a loved dog to it. Your dog is in my prayers.. after all it does say all God's creatures.

Wow there is so much stuff going on with Diva's and their families.. i'm just sending lots of prayers and love to everyone.:grouphug:

Hugs for CristabeL... i hope that your party is happy how can it not be with all that yummY food! I love carne asada! I'll send you good thoughts for the job hunt. HugS!

Morning Ladies.

Steph - Sorry to hear about your puppy. How terrible.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Buenos Dias ladies. My boss is out today and tomorrow, so today I'll be Dis'ing all day. Wooo! :surfweb:

I hope everyone is well. Prayers and hugs for all who need it.

 Hi everybody!

I'm sorry I haven't been here for a couple of days (I think). Our puppy was diagnosed this afternoon with parvo. We've turned our dining room into his own hospital. We have to keep him on tile because of the illness (I won't get into the icky details).

When I went to pay at the vet they told me they couldn't accept my check because the bank is out of state. So I sent Josh to the ATM to get $$ only to find out that the card isn't working with our pin number of course by then it was way to late to talk to anyone at the bank so I had to do some quick thinking and get the bill paid so we could get home.

After we got home Vash seemed to be alright, we were told the next 10-15 days will be a lot of ups and downs. We're giving him liquids every hour, he's not a big fan of pedialite but he is drinking his water. He's on 2 different medicines and is in need of a lot of rest and quiet. The kids aren't real understanding of quiet but we're working on it with them.

I know there are a lot of things going on in everyone's lives on this board but if you all could think good thoughts about him and this illness we would really appreciate it.

Hope you all have a nice evening.

steph

I'll be praying and sending magical thoughts to your pup. I'm so sorry to hear about that. Stay strong!

Congrats on graduating, and have fun at your party!!!!!! And good luck in the job hunt. It is scary out there, but I'm sure you'll find something that'll suit your needs for the summer.

Have a great trip, Jane! And enjoy your helper.

1000 posts post! :woohoo:

Congrats!!!

Well it's a moderately quiet week for me, which is a nice change. No huge jobs, and my Wednesday job got cancelled because my client is on vacation. So I've been trying to catch up on all the "house stuff" that I've been ignoring.

Have a great day, friends!

I hope everyone is having a great day as well.

As for me...
I can't wait to go home! Just 20 more minutes left of class then a 30 min drive home...

I'm so HUNGRY and have no groceries at home, you know what they say about not going grocery shopping when you're starving... you'll buy the whole store!

I think Donna has talked me into joining D23!

My dad is officially coming to DL with my mom and I in 2010 and is completely willing to let us do our Diva thing  He really wants to see the historical stuff, he was a history major before med school. We'll get his senior discount at GCH! :cool1:

Well that's it for now... I'll come poke around some more later!

1000 posts post! :woohoo:

Did you see my post from last night:

Hey Bridgette, I just noticed in your ticker that you will be in DL July 5-7; did you see that the Ent. rate just became available for July 5 & 6? I'm going to try and come out then, my DD 14th birthday is July 4, which we will NOT be trying and my DH birthday is July 7, so I'm looking at July 5-8; maybe we can meet up!!
