Day 2 – Friday

We hoped to be at AK for the opening, but, 3 girls just can’t get anywhere on time!!

We arrived at about 9:15 and were able to park close enough where we could walk from the car and not take the parking lot tram. Once we got a little closer to the gate we had our first glimpse of the crowds….a little heavier than I expected, but manageable.

We went straight to the back to Kilamanjaro Safari. The stand by line was 20 minutes and the fastpass return time was over an hour away. Since we knew we only had a half day, we just waited the 20 minutes, if it was even that long. The line moved quickly. I’ve done the safari before, this time wasn’t my best experience. We didn’t see as many animals as I have on other trips, but it was still fun.

After the safari we had about 20 minutes until the next Lion King show. Laura and Jen went to get in line and I high tailed it over to Dinosaur for Fastpasses. It worked out perfectly since our return time was for 30 minutes later! I went back to find the girls and we took our seats for the show which was as wonderful as it always is. I can’t miss this one!

It was time for Dinosaur so we headed over that way. The standby line was up to a 40 minute wait at that point, we waited about 5, I LOVE FASTPASSES!!!

Since it was getting close to noon at this point and we really only had time for a ½ day, we went to It’s Tough To Be a Bug and headed out of the park. There are a couple of more things I would have like to have seen, but this was the beginning of what had to be a whirlwind weekend in order to see everything we REALLY wanted to see.

We left AK and drove over to DTD. Our first stop was Wolfgang Puck’s Express for lunch. I had never eaten here before, but I loved it and will go back. After lunch we went in a couple shops, got a bunch of things at World of Disney and headed back to the hotel.

We had a little extra time so we sat by the pool for a few minutes, went back to the room and changed into our Red Sox gear and headed to Tropicana Field. That’s where it got ugly. We left ourselves 3 hours for the 90 minute ride so that we could be there for batting practice. No such luck. The traffic was so HORRENDOUS that it took us OVER three hours to get there and we missed the first three innings of the game! The only good that was that we had better seats than we’ll ever hope to get at Fenway Park!!

Another late night, didn’t get back to the hotel until after midnight.

Tomorrow – MK and a night at PI.
