My DD is 9 and honestly I am at my wits end trying to find her clothes!!:crazy2: :headache:

It seems like all the t-shirts say "Princess" "Brother for sale" or are toooo form fitting for her liking. Whatever happened to simple polos for kids? Honestly who is designing these clothes for these kids?:confused3

I feel that way for my 5 year old who is now out of the little girl section and into the bigger girls. I don't buy her stuff that has those funky sayings on them either. I find good stuff at The Children's Place, Old Navy, Gap, and Land's End. I like ON tanks and Tees for summer. Most of DD's wardrobe comes from there. :)

We like limited too both for cute clothes and sizing.

DD is having the same problem for her 8 yr. old DD.. She LOVES to wear dresses and skirts - however, she's not allowed to wear the kind that barely cover her butt..:crazy2:

DD buys the fancier long dresses - like mid-calf - and she'll buy short skirts ONLY if they have the shorts attached to them underneath..

She always comes home frustrated - wanting to know who is designing little girls clothing in a size 7 that most 16 yr. olds would be wearing..

If anyone has a source - that won't break the bank - PLEASE share!!

Thanks!

I feel your pain - my oldest (7) doesn't like the shirts with the sleeves that are snug on her arms and go down past her wrists --

"MOM!!" comes the yell from the dressing room "these sleeves are too long and need a size smaller"

The salesgirl - "Thats the way everyone is wearing them now - they should cover your wrists and part of your hand"

DD rolls her eyes - and looks at me - "I guess I am not like everyone - cause I am not wearing my shirts like that"

(I talked to her about the eye rolling later)

we like Limited Too for my DD7. If that's not in your budget, try Kohl's. We get a lot of her clothes there too. They had some cute polo type shirts there last time!

I have the same issue with my 4 year old...why do they only make low rides for 4 year olds for goodness sake! If you're interested, Disney Outlet has some really great polos for girls (long and short sleeves) way on sale...if there are any left, they're work it (I got some for mom too)

I feel your pain. I have a 7yo DD and am finding it really tough. Luckily she's not into the hoochy clothes that a lot of stores are carrying. I get most of her clothes from Lands End, Gymboree, Osh Kosh and places like that.

I don't know...sounds like the salesgirl deserved a good eye-roll on that one! It also sounds like you raised a girl with a good head on her shoulders...it's great she doesn't care about what "everyone" is doing.

My dd is 10 today , but wears a larger size---12-14 bottoms and a 14-16 in tops. My rules are nothing that has any writing on the rear (ie "Look at my rear...my mama thinks it is ok for me to be a hoochie"); no skirts....only skorts unless the skirt is below the knee; no writing on tee shirts unless they are from a city hubby visits (HAHA he loves to bring her home a souvenier). I buy her stuff at Justice and Target. I just bought dd a bunch of very soft tee shirts in about 7 colors. No printing on them, soft, covered every bit of her, etc. Only $5 each. They match her skorts, shorts, and jeans. Not high fashion, but good for everyday and my dd loves how soft they are.

I use the same stores mentioned here. If money were no object, we'd have lots and lots of Hanna Andersson. Such soft cotton fabrics and they wash and wear so nicely. I used to do get lots of Gymboree, but now there sizes are where I'd have to order online so we don't shop there anymore. I get alot at Target, a fair amount at Children's place and the rest here and there.

Hanna Andersson runs end of season sales in December and June. They also often have a few items on sale 20% year round. If you can get to an outlet, you can get some great deals, especially on the smallest and largest sizes.

My favorite store for DD is Talbots for Kids. Regular price is not budget friendly BUT they run awesome sales several times a year. All of their stuff is very classic and conservative. Plus not everyone is wearing the same things!

If you don't have one locally you can order online.

I have been sticking with Lands End for 8 y/o DD. It seems that everywhere else carries nothing but sleezewear for kids! I hate animal prints on kids. I hate animal prints period!

We have had decent luck buying clothes from childrens place. They are affordable, hold up well, and we can usually find something that fits well. The sizing can vary, so we make sure to try everything on. I've bought dd two skirts in the same style just different colors and had them fit totally different. So, like I said, she now tries everything on first. Dont get me wrong, they do having the selection of clothes I dont approve or dont fit well, but in general we can usually find something.

Thanks - she is a good kid -- and I did tell her that I am glad that she knows what she likes and doesn't have to have something because a salewoman tells her it is "in"

Wait until she's just between childrens and juniors sizes. :rolleyes2

Pants are too long, tops are too low cut. My DD is starting to develop, and it's so hard to find a bra that isn't heavily padded at that size. I know women who are smaller on top want to look bigger, but an 11 year old doesn't!
