Wow. Our council's cookies are still 4 bucks a box. A couple of the newer specialty ones came out at 5. But Samoas are still $4.

If I knew any girl scouts I would buy them but my kids are grown. Honestly I just buy the ALDI dupes and I'm good. We rarely buy cookies anymore.
Those Aldi dupes are good. The Peanut butter dome one is a dead ringer. The Samoa clone not quite, but still very good. I haven't seen the Aldi thin mints recently.

Are you willing to shell out the extra shillings? We still have a few boxes of thin mints stashed away in the freezer from last year, so I'm in no hurry to buy more, but will probably indulge. eventually.

"Back in my day" I sold girl scout cookies for 50 cents a box. yeah, I'm old.
me too 50 cents a box.
I don't buy them anymore.
DD does and has them sent overseas to the troops

I have no issue with girl scouts raising money, but for $6 you are getting about $1 worth of cookies. I hope the rest goes to the girl scouts.
After the bakers are paid and the council gets their cut, I've read that the TROOPS of girls get 50 cents a box. I'd much rather hand them a $5 bill to put towards their activities than buy what would be 10 boxes ($60) of cookies for them to raise that money.

Yes, they have never actually received much of the money.
I would do a donation too.....but never see and girls around here selling them

i have not seen door to door since the early 90's. the city we lived in until '07 outlawed all forms of minors selling door to door so scouts, school fundraisers and that kind of stuff had to be word of mouth or at tables outside grocery stores. since we moved here the only place i see cookie sales are outside stores (and kudos to the local media-they give multiple heads up about when they will start, locations/hours).

Same here. I only see them outside stores and our local paper usually gives the dates and details.

Not having them go door to door anymore isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Not that it was the cause, but I was super determined as a kid to raise enough money to take my troop to Six Flags. I went door to door until I had sold 350 boxes, only I also caught pneumonia. We did go to Six Flags though!!:(:sad2::cold:

Our sale starts next week. We are now at $6 per box. $5 made the math easy for the girls.

Each year they seem to raise the price and/or put fewer cookies in each box. I consider it more of a 'donation' and in return get a few cookies. Wish more of the money actually went to the girl scouts. Many of the knock-off cookies you can find are usually better, available all year and at a lower price.

I would like to point something out. All of us. Everyone damn one of us on this thread is joined by one thing: our love of Girl Scout cookies. Something that is so uniquely American. Girl Scout cookies transcends politics, religion, locale, everything.
