gingerbread holiday room competition details up

I tried to register or think I did but not sure I did it right since I'm new this year and never tried any prior.........So anyway I did the Contact us, entered info under Gingerbread House.......and got letter in regular email....QUESTION is: Is that first letter I received (which was really almost immeidately received upon completion of registration info) the same as the confirmation letter? I'm asking because I am not positive I entered info right....any help to this appreciated.

It sounds like the answer is "yes."

Did the letter you received start out like this:
"Hello and thank you for registering for the..VMK Build Your Own Gingerbread House Room Competition. As a reminder here are the rules:..."

If so, congrats! You are registered.

I saw host lily and she answered some questions in regard to the competition

No rides, they dont have time with so many rooms to judge (they wont ride it, doesnt mean you cant have one) But you do not need to have one like it said in that confirmation letter

No multiple rooms. Just one. another time issue.

if your name doesnt fit. put as much of it as you can. and if nothing fits put a word that starts with same first letter. I will give examples.

gingerbread house acebestdjbestace wont fit
so i use
gingerbread house ace best

gingerbread house zelberouasdgkji wont fit
cant find any part of my name to use
so i pick something that starts with the same letter as my name
gingerbread house zebra

hope this helps answer some of those questions

Thank You Aengus for Posting!! This answers MANY Questions I had, I was going to ask Hula in her room if we needed a Ride, but her Sig. said she had no info on it. :) So TYVM!

I was going to make it 2 rooms, but now I guess I can't :sad1: Back to the drawing board. I'll make 2 rooms and then when it gets down to the last few days I will pick which room I want them to see :upsidedow

I have a question for anyone who has participated in the old competitions for VMK. I was just wondering if that flag that you get is trade able or if you can put it in another room of yours that the hosts didn't place it in.

Thanks!
~Water

As someone else said, it's not tradeable. But I did make good use out of
my space mountain contest flag in another room. It fit the theme of what
I wanted....perfectly.

But, when I get judged this time around, I won't move the judging flag until
after the contest is over.

Oh, in that case, Woot! :goodvibes hmm I better get busy building something then....

Thanks for the info Disney Dreams:)

THought posting the rules for some of the previous competitions may help clear up some misunderstandings. I couldn't find the rules for the Everest competition, but thought this may explain why no one really knows what's going to happen until vmk announces it. Just a note that each of these contests were announced far in advance of registration and that players were given at least two weeks notice before registration began.

This was posted on July 5, 2006 for the Team water slide competition:
"Waterslide Competition

The Build Your Own Waterslide competition is coming to VMK! This will be a team-based room

competition where Players form a Pool Patrol and build their own versions of a giant water slide.

Each team is to have one Lifeguard as the team leader whose role is to coordinate the team and

register the team for the competition.

Here are the rules:
- Each Pool Patrol is to consist of no less than 6 and no more than 20 members.
- The ride may not exceed 30 rooms in length.
- Players may only be on one Pool Patrol team.
- Each member of the Pool Patrol must contribute at least one room to the ride.
- The Lifeguard must be the owner of the Shallow End room, where the team's ride begins.
- Waterslides will be judged on color, creativity, and overall ride experience.

You must choose a name for your Pool Patrol. Choose carefully, it must be allowable in VMK and

must fit into the room name, preceded by Shallow End (example: Shallow End Dumbo). No

"dictionary dances" are permitted in any Pool Patrol room names (example: Shallow End Dumbo To is

not allowed).

Registration will be open Monday July 10 through Sunday July 16. Only the first 200 Teams that have

properly registered will be accepted. The Lifeguard will provide the names of all Pool Patrol members

as well as the names of all rooms in the Pool Patrol's slide. Late entries will not be accepted.

Once a team's registration has been submitted no changes may be made to team name or team

membership. Only registered teams will be judged.

Judging will take place between the following times:
Friday August 4, 2:30 - 8:30pm (Pacific)
Saturday August 5, 8:30am - 7:30pm (Pacific)
Sunday August 6, 8:30am - 7:30pm (Pacific)

Please try to keep your ride open during the event so that others can enjoy what you and your team

have created.

Begin planning your water adventure!

Item of the Week

Each week we'll be revealing the history of an item, answering questions such as When did it first

appear, how long was it in shops, is it rare? Check back each week for the info on another item.

Item: Raft Couch

Where can I buy it? Shrunken Ned's Shop

How much is it? 1000 credits

Are there any rare types? Nope. It is the only one of its kind.

What's it for? Racing down the slopes or lounging on a lazy river. It also makes for a comfy addition

to any VMK room.

History: This raft looks very much like the ones you'll find at Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach

Water Parks at the Walt Disney World® Resort in Orlando, Florida. It is used in such rides as

Mayday Falls and Runoff Rapids.

Nickname: Giant Floaty

Team Competition Tip

Create a Team Lobby

What is a "Team Lobby"?

A "Team Lobby" is a room that is accessible to all the members of a team and the "Shallow End" start

room of your waterslide. The room should belong to the Lifeguard of the Pool Patrol. Each player

places a teleporter in their own room and then trades the matching teleporter to the Lifeguard to set

down in the Lobby. A teleporter linking the Lobby to the "Shallow End" should be placed in this room

as well with an item next to it to signify it is the entrance. The Hosts in VMK use this technique when

building ride-a-thons and mazes. It's a great way for each player to be able to access the "Shallow

End" whenever needed.

WOOT on a purple flag!!! :dance3: :woohoo: :woohoo:

...now, VMK, what about my purple crate??

has anyone be me and a few others noticed this equation?

10 winners each catergory times 3 catagories = 30 winners plus 1 grand prize winners from each catagory 1 times 3 is 3 = 33 total winners

and we just so happen to have unreleased Club33 rooms and furniture

and holidays presents it all fits

Grand Prize = Club33 room and full furntiure set

Prize = Club33 room alone??

This is only what I think if I am wrong don't yell at me that's what aengus is for................ :rolleyes1

sorry aengus had too lol

I don't think it's a bad guess at all. But, for the Space competition, I believe it was 10 winners for each category and 1 grand prize winner for each as well. There were just more categories then because it was a ride competition. So, ya never know, but I don't think I would bet on it.

I'm not sure about the Club 33 room ever being available, I think they like having the Best Guest Room parties being an exclusive, staff-run event because that's what the real Club 33 is. It would be a neat prize, though.

Well, as much as I'd like to, I'm not sure I can keep my room open for nearly three weeks!

I guess we can assume that there will not be any host events during the span of time?

Let's see...2000 (or so) entries, divided by 19 days. That's just over 105 rooms being judged every day. Divide that by 4 (presuming that all Host_'s will be judging), and that means each host will judge 26-27 rooms a day.

Perhaps we'll have host events afterall! W00t!

I really was only kidding...
