Gilmore Girls - Fall Rewatch Thread

I really haven't watched the show since they did the Netflix episodes. Knowing Richard Gilmore was truly gone made it sad. I also realized my Gilmore Girl is Emily, not Lorelai or Rory for sure. Emily is far from perfect, but she truly did what she thought was right -- and she grew and changed some of her beliefs over time. Lorelai and Rory were actually pretty insufferable when I looked at the big picture.

I really enjoyed the show originally, but the Netflix sequel really changed things for me. Until then I only really disliked the final season.

I have them all on DVD, so I watch them at different times of the year. Sometimes I watch in the summer when there is so little new on tv to watch. Sometimes I watch in the winter when the holidays are over and it’s kind of dreary.

Funnily enough, I happened to watch the second episode yesterday. I don't know if I'll watch the whole lot again, but it's fun to see bits here and there. ...So, maybe, I will!!!! ...Such a great show! πŸ˜€

I wouldn't rewatch the 4 episodes they did later, though. I was really disappointed with those. Even though I liked the idea of them wrapping up story lines better, they made Lorelai and, especially, Rory so unlikable. πŸ™

Yes! I just started again a few weeks ago, but this time with my 17 year old daughter. I confess that I may be watching some without her, too. I work from home, so it's a cozy show to have on in the background while I work. I love it!

I just β€œdiscovered” Gilmore girls last fall and I’ve been watching it whenever I get the chance and I’m now on the 5th season. I LOVE this show and it really does have fall vibes, there’s something so cozy about it. Kirk is the best, and I agree that both Lorelai and Rory can be annoying but I still love watching.

YES!!!!!! This so much!!!!

I loved the show in its initial run but the only good thing about the Netflix reboot was Emily's character developemnt. It was sad that Richard was no longer there but I absolutely loved how Emily picked herself up, told the DAR to take a hike, finally found a maid she loved, moved to Cape Cod and became a museum docent. She seemed so much happier.

In the intervening years neither Lorelei nor Rory experienced any growth at all. And now, after seeing that, any time I try to go back to rewatch the series they just come across as insufferable. And that makes me sad.

But the worst of it all is that Mitchum was right. Rory hasn't got it. And nobody wanted him to be right.
