Gifting someone park tickets? Way to do it online?

I want to surprise someone by sending them a park hopper. I was just going to buy it online and email it to them so they can pick up the pass at their convenience (I did this for my daughter last year ) but there's some fine print on the websit that says you need to have the credit card used for purchase in order to actually get the tickets. Any experiences on this? I understand requiring an ID but seems overly cumbersome.

When you buy online from disneyland.com they are emailed to you but at least one has your name on it; that could cause issues. Another idea is to buy it at Safeway (Von's) or Target or wherever they sell them - I have only seen three day hoppers, though, don't know if that will work for you.

I seem to think I've read that you can buy a ticket as a gift that doesn't have the name on it. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

Have not seen more than a 1 day hopper sold at the grocery stores but definitely Annual Passes.

Can you buy them a Disney Gift Card with a cute note saying they could use them to purchase their own tickets with it?

I saw the fine print:

Please remember the payment card(s) you use during your purchase today. As the purchaser of Disneyland Resort Tickets and Passes, you will be asked to show your payment card(s) and a valid government issued photo ID when you enter the Disneyland Parks. Failure to produce proof of purchase may result in denial of admittance to the theme parks, and/or denial of other rights and entitlements.

I think this is their way of trying to combat the ticket brokers renting out days.

If you have the original credit card or ticket number you get on a receipt, I think they can re-issue you the unused portion of a ticken you have lost.

They do not ask for your credit card at the turnstile.

Do not write your name on the space before you use them (even if you use them yourself). There is a box that says "Print Name". I did that, and they had to re-issue the tickets when I first tried to use them.

For the most part I think they're not trying to target legitimate buyers who are giving them out to friends and family. However, the message seems to be targeting the resellers and/or ticket sharers with the threat that they might make them go through hoops and confiscate the tickets if they can't come up with the info. What it would do is give a small chance that a ticket broker ends up with a disgruntled customer who then writes a bad review on Yelp.

I purchased parkhoppers for my cousins, and emailed the vouchers to them. They were able to use the vouchers to get their tickets at the turnstyles. When they got their tickets they showed ID and wrote their names on the tickets. After that, they had to show ID when they used those tickets.

I get discount tickets through my work and I've done the same thing Mary Jo did. I just email the vouchers to the recepient(s). No problems at all and I'm not breaking any rules either.

I just want to make clear that I understand that most people don't get asked for the original credit card used to purchase tickets. However, does make it clear that they do reserve the right to do so. It wouldn't surprise me if there weren't random checks like the IRS runs random audits.

Also - if you're going to forward the email attachment, make note of which one was forwarded and don't use it (perhaps mark the printout with a pen) but definitely bring it with you in case there's a problem.

The other thing is that I see scalpers at sporting events trying to sell print at home tickets. Who would buy such a ticket? I've even heard of issues with some event tickets these days that are scanned for a barcode or QR code and not torn or otherwise cancelled. There are several possibilities. One is that they're used for entrance and someone drops them outside to attempt to resell. Another is that season ticket holders can often sell back or donate the tickets to the team/event without physically returning the ticket. The system invalidates the ticket virtually but not physically.

This is when you pick them up at the ticket booth. They turn styles don't have this info.

I never noticed it until our most recent trip over Thanksgiving weekend. The pdf they emailed me had my name on it and then when we got the little cards at the turnstile, one of them already had my name printed on it.

Hmm. Maybe depends on where you are. Are you in CA? That would make sense in CA where someone is more likely to buy an AP. I am in CO and they have three day hoppers at several grocery store chains. I haven't seen any other number of days or APs here though.

Yes I am in CA! That does make perfect sense!
I have yet to buy any hopper or AP from the stores but I always take a look - It calls to me!
