Does anyone know if I can gift points to a family member? Actually "gifting" may be the wrong term... so I'll just give you my situation and you can tell me:

Extended family and myself are vacationing at the same time in october... but my in-laws are arriving one day prior and paying out of pocket for a studio at Wilderness Lodge. We are all DVC members... and have the ability to borrow points from our next use year... but I actually have points that I will loose (ironically due to the same in-laws... but that's another story altogether) and would like for them to use these points but I don't want to use my one and only transfer for 25 or less points. So... is there a way for me to call up Member Services and just give them my points since the reservation is already booked with a credit card? Is this too messy of a situation and I should just back away slowly? Loose the points in october with grace and learn from my stupidity?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Couldn't you just make a reservation with your 25 points (may have to use a few more).... etc to reserve a studio for them, and then link the reservations if they are paying cash for the villas....

If they are staying in the main part of Wilderness, then it would be 2 seperate reservations...

Or look on rent / trade board.

Or contact make a wish foundation - maybe donate?

I'm sorry, probably not much help, but here's some ideas.

If they're staying in the main part of Wilderness can they even use the DVC points in that section?

other question for you... can points be donated to Make a Wish?... because I'd do that probably before giving them to my in-laws.

I can't believe I just put that in writing.

Thanks for your help!

No, they can not use DVC points in the non-DVC section of any resort that has an associated DVC addition. If they wouldn't mind staying at a different resort or a DVC villa, you could book with your points and put the ressie in their name.

There is also a cancellation window (depending upon if they booked a package or room only) for a full refund on a cash ressie through CRO/Disney travel. That window can be as long as 45 days, so they may not be able to change their ressie and get their $$ back.
