If I gift my niece some OBC, bought in advance through the DCL website, and she doesn't use it all up, what happens to any remaining funds? Are they refunded? Can she buy a Disney gift card onboard to apply to a future trip?
She'll also have some OBC from our TA. I know that they're refundable but it would be refunded back to the travel agency so we'd like to avoid that too.

OBC credits are used in this order
1. Any non-refundable OBC (usually from DCL or TAs)
2. Refundable OBC

Any left over, refundable OBC is credited back to the method of payment. If purchased with a gift card, the gift card is refunded, if purchased with credit card the credit card is refunded.

Any left over, NON-refundable OBC is lost.

Thank you.
Do you have any experience with which order of OBC is used up first?

She'll have refundable OBC from our TA, then $25 OBC that I used a Disney gift card to buy, then OBC that I bought with credit card.
I would hope they use up the TA's OBC first maybe they burn up the smaller ones first?

Honestly, I don't think they'll have any leftover. It's their first Disney cruise and she's probably doubtful that she'll drop hundreds in the gift shop but there are just so many other ways to spend money. Even if you're not a big souvenir buyer, it just flows like water.

Hundreds? That'll be used up in no time. Dining, drinks, excursions, not sure if the OBC can be used for gratuities, but if they can, those alone can probably eat up the OBC.

The TA's OBC will be used first. I'm not sure the order of the OBC you've purchased for her, probably in the order that it was purchased.

Typically, OBC applied multiple times with gift/credit cards are refunded in reverse order of purchase. So the last card used is refunded until it reached however much was put on the card to buy the OBC, then the next to last card, and so on.

Actually, it's $1300 in spending $ and gratuities are pre-paid. Dh and I wouldn't spend nearly that much on a 5-night cruise but we barely drink and Palo is free for Platinum members. I was trying to think back to how we used to spend in the early days. It really depends on which excursions we did. They are only doing one which is in Cozumel and costs less than $300 for the whole family.
