"Gifting" a reservation....

Since my parents are footing the bill for our entire family vacation in June, the siblings and I would like to treat them to a dinner for their 40th anniversary. Since they went to Hawaii on their honeymoon, we would like to send them to the SoA luau. I have the TIW card so am I able to buy two tickets for the show using the discount and book it in my parents' name? Or do I have to be on the reservation too? Since it is pre-paid, I assume that they don't ask to see the card when you get there. Is this OK?

The TIW is not supposed to be used this way. It is for the member and guests dining WITH the member. Will they ask for the TIW card and photo ID? They might. Probably not but they might; it's within their right to do so.

Since they are paying for the entire vacation, I might just forget the budget maneuvers to save a few dollars and pay list price for their one dinner just to try to avoid any embarassing complications.

I agree. They seem to be great parents, and it sounds like there are several sibilings sharing the cost. I would be so upset if they were embarresed when asked to show the TiW card, which they could be. It is an unintended use of the card, and I wouldn't risk their special night.

When we came up with the idea, we hadn't even considered the fact that I have the TiW card so we weren't planning on the discount anyways. So, I thought I would ask.
