Alrighty...it's that time of the year and I need some suggestions for gifts. I have my DGS covered--he's easy since he's only 2:goodvibes and I scored a TD with his older brother (age 7) last month when I took him on his first real birding trip and bought him decent opticals. But I need help with suggestions for the below scenarios:

1) I'm invited to a shower for a first time grandmother. The baby in question is a girl but, as I understand it, the gift should be for the GM. So this GM is a professional woman and a passing acquaintance (we're friendly--but not best buds) and works for a vendor that I use in my business. I'd like to spend $25-50.

2) Another friend, again not best buds, is having a shower for her daughter in law to be. I don't know the DIL2B but I do know the groom. It seems to be an "open" shower (nothing specific requested). She's registered at Macy's but I'd really like to give something unique and memorable both for the shower ($50 budget) and the wedding ($75-100 budget)

I am hopeful that someone is Disboardland has some unusual ideas. HELP:scared1:

Wait....Grandmother shower? You have GOT to be kidding me!
OP, you are a lovely person for not thinking that is ridiculous and wanting to spend a decent amount of money on a gift! That being said, how about several nice picture frames that she can put pictures of the baby in after she's born?
Hmmm, I'm stuck for the wedding. Not too sure what would be "memorable." How about a favorite cookbook and random kitchen supplies-- wooden spoons, mixing bowls, etc.?

A grandmother shower is where you give items to the grandmother so she can have them to use at her house when the baby is there.

Pack and play would be a good item, even some toys/books.

A bit of a gift grab in my opinion, however it is nice to have some of those things at my MIL's house. Especially since we fly now. She's never had one, but has things like a pack and play there she has bought to use with the older grandkids.

Another idea for the grandmother shower is a portable booster/high chair. They sell them at Wal-Mart/Target, etc. You can just attach it to a regular kitchen chair. Comes in VERY handy and takes up much less space to store than an extra high chair at grandma's. We have one in Iowa and just bought one of our camper. Less than $20 and well worth it.

For the wedding shower, I would just get something off the registry.
