I need some gift ideas for my 3 year old, 4 year old (almost 5) and an 8 year old nieces for Christmas. I try to keep it under $30 per kid. The 4 year old is into girly stuff, I got her a Tinkerbell doll for her birthday and she LOVED it.

I know they all like video games, but auntie won't buy them, so what else are kids this age asking for this year?

I thought about a family zoo membership, but the nearest place is almost one hour away, so I don't know how frequently that would be utilized.

Zhu Zhu pets are the first thing I think of. If you can find them, you can get the hamsters for about $8 ea although you can also pay about $30 on amazon.com.

I have 2 nieces, 6 and 9. I am buying them cinch saks with their name on them that they can take for sleepovers or to their dads for the weekend or on short trips. I found some at a 31 party and with embroidery they were $22 each.

I think the website is thirtyonegifts.com -- I'm not a consultant or trying to sell these - just liked them a lot at a party I was at! :)

These are by far my favorite gifts to give and have my children recieve.

3yr old- Brown Bear, Brown Bear. Ella-by Bill Peet, Chrsyatheum
game- Candyland,

4yr old- Berenestain Bear Books,
game- Disney Princess

8 yr old- Judy Blume Books, Rainbow Fairy books, Kaite Kazoo
games- Boogle, Downfall, Uno,

Another idea along the family thing- pool passes, bowling.

Good luck. Have fun shopping.

My 9 year old loves craft stuff- there are tons of kits out there for hair things, jewelry, room accessories... Right now DD's really into beads- either pony beads to make beadie animals or nicer jewelry sort to make necklaces/bracelets.

I just remembered I got them autographed books by a children's author earlier in the year. I forgot about that! So I guess I'll check out the toys you guys recommended and also the pool pass thing. I know they go to a public pool in the summer, but we don't live near by, so I don't know if we'd be able to pick up the tab for that or how much it costs. It's something to look into though.

I would go to Toys R Us and take advantage of their board game sale. That way they can do things together.

How about CD's or DVD's?

You can get one each that is to the taste of that niece - Hanna Montana, Jonas Bros or even Mary Poppins CD.....

Some really nice classic board games in wood "book" boxes are on sale at Target this week for $15 each. They make lovely gifts, my husband and I have a few, but are probably over the head of the younger child.

However, if she's into fairies, I have to suggest Magic Cabin (http://www.magiccabin.com). It's pricey, but you can find wonderful fairy gifts in the 3-5 yo range, for example autumn fairy dolls under $20 (http://www.magiccabin.com/product.a..._val=&cm_pos=&cur_index=8&cm_type=&pcode=2289). They're all very Waldorf and German style, the quality is great.

I have 5 out of state family members to shop for ranging in age from 2-10. This year I got towels from Target and brought them to a place to have their names embroyered on them. I also went to Lands End/LL Bean overstock and got them the rashguard shirts when shipping was free. I did the whole thing for about $35 kid. Just and idea. I like to get them all similar items so there is no fighting. Now the shipping is going to be another thing!

Hope this helps.

How about movie theater gift certificates? Do you live close to them? Maybe a certificate to go on a "date" with you?

Unfortunately no. We are about 10 hours away driving. We haven't seen them since last year at Christmas and SIL and DH aren't good about keeping in touch with each other. We've only been to their house once and I have no idea what the kids have and love except spongebob and the Wii.

I like the idea of the fairies, I'll check them out. I also like the idea of gift certificate to the movies. I know their parents would take them, but we would need to get enough for everyone to cover their cost. 3 kids + 2 adults + snacks $$$$.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I went to three stores today looking for those hamsters, but they were all out :( At least I found DD an Abby doll today. Abby Cadabby is top notch right now.

Finding unique gift ideas is usually the first dilemma that shoppers face when buying a present for others. Buying gifts is a special event in everyone’s life. We tend to buy gifts throughout the year, might be for a holiday or any other special occasion. There are many websites dedicated to the gift ideas. They give valuable information on how to choose gifts for kids, parents, friends, relatives.

I just bought my cousin a Hatchling dinosour for his 4th birthday. I have no idea if he will like it but, it's cute and moves and roars when you pet it. The one I got was $15.

For the younger ones, maybe a TAG reading system to share? My DS3 has one and  it (me too!). It really is a fun and education product. For the older one, I agree with a PP that some kind of craft kits would probably be good.
