I have all of the presents I needed for dd3 (almost 4), but now my father wants to get her something and I am just out of ideas? It's not even that we bought tons of things, we try to be very moderate.

What are some of your dd's favorite toys/items? Thanks!

Puzzles (the wooden ones), books, movies, anything that goes with her play kitchen, baby doo accessories (toy stroller, etc.), anything Little People. She also loves fancy nightgowns, dress up clothes. Also crayons, markers, any art supplies. HTH!

For her third birthday I bought my neice a plush tea set that had little cups and saucers inside a plush teapot. It was literally like a stuffed animal, but a tea set. My sister said it was the best present she's ever gotten- she wants to "play tea" all the time!!

I got it at Lillian Vernon last year.

This year for her 4th birthday we got her a barbie fairytopia little rolly suitcase that lights up. She loved that too- she likes to carry things around with her. princess:

I think DD5 barbie addiction started when she was just about 4..........she also loves her Disney princess kitchen set!

My girls wanted medical kits this year and the Sky Dancers dolls. Anything dress-up is also great as is PlayDoh!

As soon as she turned four, all of a sudden the Polly Pocket phase bowled us over! Always, anything Dora, or Princess is appreciated. She has also gotten into a cheerleader phase.

At our KofC Christmas party she got a backpack, that the front folds down to look like a doll house, and the accessories store inside. It came with two dolls, beds, a computer desk, etc. She likes that because she can take it with her, as she can her Polly Pocket items in thier carry case.

She loves books that she can "read" herself. The ABC books that have the letter, then pictures of items that begin with that letter she likes because she can have success "reading" them herself.

Magnadoodle (aka Doodle Pro)! DS5 has worn out two of them and he's getting a third one for Christmas. (They are pretty durable but he's very hard on them along with other DS - with daily use they last about a year - I couldn't ask for more from an $8 toy.) He draws on them every day. It is my standard gift for small kids. Even DS1.5 loves to scribble on it. The regular ones are the best, not the color or glow, etc. They are from $8-$15 depending on if they are on sale.

I wanted to get my nephew this, but we decided against in place of another toy.
A View Master. Remember those! I saw them last week at Toys R US. I was amazed that they are back. I wanted to get my nephew the viewmaster and the incredibles and finding nemo disc, but they also have Care Bears, Disney Princesses and a bunch more girl ones. I think this is a great gift because it is something wear the child can entertain themselves. They can do it in the car, at a restaurant, while waiting at the doctors office...you get the idea. They also have a little carrying case so the kids can store their discs. Also, they have a larger veiwmaster, (think movie projector) that the kids can use at home to show their films on the wall, (it not that expensive either. I think the larger one was like $14.99. Anyway, I think its a great gift. I can't wait for my nephews next birthday so I can get that. (althoug he will then be six and might be too old!)

How much is he looking to spend?

In the more expensive category: two things that DD (3 1/2) is getting this year, the VSmile (videogame console suitable for young kids) - this is from me, and the Dora Talking Kitchen (she asked Santa to bring this for both her & her little sister).

Other ideas: As someone else mentioned, anything Dora; puzzles - she's just starting to move beyond the wooden ones & into the small versions of regular puzzles - like 24 pieces I think - I found a few nice ones (Winnie the Pooh, princesses, etc) at Ocean State Job Lot really cheap; books; art supplies - Crayola Color Wonder stuff is great - paints & markers that only show up on the special Color Wonder paper - no mess! Kitchen type toys - play dishes, food, etc; Beginner board games, like Chutes & Ladders and Candyland (DD has the Dora version of Candyland, and LOVES it); pre-school level computer games.

This year, she is getting Leapster and Videonow. For stocking stuffers, she will get the new Leapfrog dvd, some Wiggles & Sesame Street dvds, and accessories/discs/cartridges. The added benefit to these (other than their being educational) is that she will be able to amuse herself while I work!

Thanks everyone, those were some great ideas. I have Christmas "burn-out" right now, so this will definately help me this weekend as I look!

My 3 1/2 yr old DD fell in love with the plush ponies at Walmart.

They were marked down to $24, are very sturdy....claim to hold 125lbs, are at my DD's height to climb on.

Of course she picked the pink one, but they come in various brown horse colors....that and a cowboy hat and I bet he'd be thrilled.

it is so cute and my kids have had it for 3 years. We only get it out every year at Christmas and they can't wait to play with it! Might be a neat Grandpa gift. [girls almost 7 almost 5 and boy a little over 3].

They're pretty easy to please at this age.
