Hey all,
We are planning an upcoming trip this January. I wondered if anyone had information on characters being able to deliver a small gift, passed through their handler, during a character greeting?
I am not wanting to take more than our allotted time with any character, in fairness to others, but just wanted to know if this had been done?
Thanks for your input! :goodvibes

I don’t know for sure, but think they would not. The potential extra time would not be the issue - it would be the gift giving itself.
How would they explain to the other kids that Mickey is giving a gift to one child and not the others?

Wow, I never thought of that! That's why everyone here on the Dis are so terrific. You each spread new light. Thanks, Rach

we've used memories by betsy in the past for a gift basket in the room. She does an amazing job and the kids think it's a special delivery from Mickey Mouse!

I'll have to check into her availability. Thanks! :goodvibes
More specifically, I was wanting to give my two nieces a tiara, in a little gift bag, form Cinderella. I had the amazing folks, from the Disign thread, make a sweet letter to accompany each gift saying that "She's excited they are there and will be looking for them". This is a once in a lifetime trip for them and we are not planning on a BBB experience. However, I am trying to find little ways to keep the magic going for them.
Originally, I thought of asking a random cast member to deliver the gifts to the girls just before a parade, but was not sure how easy that would be either. I am so open to suggestions or ideas if anyone has them. They have been through a lot and this trip needs to brighten their spirits! I am looking forward to what you all can suggest.
Thanks, Rach :woohoo:

How about getting the items into the room and left for them?

Since you have a letter to go with the gifts, it would make sense for them to find the gifts and the letter.

Actually, that may just work! Would I have the concierge desk leave them after we are gone for the day? Thanks

If you're staying on property, give the pkgs to the front desk at check in. They will deliver it to your room.

We did this at WL on our first trip. I had made an "invitation" from Cinderella to DD asking her to come to dinner with her family (ADR for 1900 Park Fare). I handed it to the CM checking us in and asked her to give it to DD, saying it was left there from Cinderella. They did me one better - CM took it and asked if it would be ok for it to be delivered to the room in 20 mins instead. Sure enough, 20 mins later, a different CM knocked on our door and handed DD the invitation and a huge bunch of balloons. She said she was instructed by Cinderella to wait for an answer, so she stood patiently waiting while DD read it and jumped up and down yelling "yes, yes! Wait! Mommy and Daddy, do you want to come to dinner with Cinderella and her family too? It says I can bring you!" The CM said "oh good, Cinderella will be so pleased!" She also said something like she'd tell Cinderella how excited DD was and how wonderful her manners were. It was a wonderful experience!

Another little thing you can do to prolong the magic for your neices - buy 2 post cards sometime during your trip without them knowing it. Address them to the girls, throw a stamp on it, and bring them to your concierge on your last day, maybe when you're "checking out." Ask them to drop them in the mail, or ask them to have Mickey sign them then drop in the mail. DD recieved hers 2 weeks later, signed by Mickey and Minnie! (I wrote "Thanks for coming to visit! Hope to see you again soon!) It's still hanging on the wall next to her bed, 2 years later!

I had my seventh birthday in WDW, and we did a character breakfast at the Restaurantasaurus.

A CM on the phone suggested my mom bring a gift for Goofy to give me, which she did. In the end, she slipped it to the handlers without my knowledge, but they apparently got pretty mad and said that they don't do gifts.

They took it, but they weren't happy about it. We ended up having to wait for an hour after we finished our meal until he finally got around to bringing it out.

All in all, not something I would do again.
