Onboard the Magic right now and today my daughter goto a gift from our stateroom host of a Sleepy doll... I'm just wondering if that's something they do for all kids or if my daughter git some disney magic.... this is our first cruise!

I feel a little bad because we aren't really room service people, we barely let her in the room besides to empty trash every few days. I hope she's not worried about her tip! She is always so nice and friendly when we see her in the hallways and very sweet to my daughter :)

That to my knowledge is not the standard. They are nice and sweet and pleasant all the time to speak to. Not heard of gifts being made before.

We had a gift of a Fozzy Bear plush after a serious accident when my son was younger but that's it.

I did see one other kid on deck with the same doll(I was wrong, I just looked and it is Bashful not sleepy), but I figured if every kid got one I'd see more... my kid is just extra cute I guess :) she's made friends either half the CMs already it seems...

Maybe something new they are doing.

I recall a great Cruise Director Rachel from the UK.

She was out and about all day from breakfast at the buffets, then Topsiders now Cabanas and she would talk to anyone and everyone.

She would send gifts to staterooms for the children she would meet, like dolls and plush toys.

we got a small stuffed hallie doll (hippo from doc mcstuffins) from my sister's stateroom host last year. they were staying concierge on the magic, we were not, but her stateroom host went out of her way to leave something special for my daughter.

It seems I've read for the parks that they have some ability to give people merchandise for various reasons... well whatever the reason we will treasure it and I will make sure she knows it's from her friend on Mickey's boat... can't believe we only have two sea days and then back to reality.....

My thoughts are, if others have this and considering stateroom hosts are not really paid but work for tips, this is a DCL thing and the host only delivers it.

Often there are surprise gifts DCL gifts in particular on special cruises, new ones etc. Was this a cruise that featured Frozen?

Oh yes I didn't figure she probably bought it, but maybe has some discretion in giving gifts. Or maybe it is a new thing. This is a cruise with Frozen and 12 nights.

Yes, I guessed you were on the 12 night cruise in Europe with Frozen, this is something DCL will be doing and paying for and its only delivered by your stateroom host, not paid for or produced by your stateroom host.

I am on one this week but suspect we will not get one as we do not have any young girl in our group on this cruise, later this week,.

Once when my daughter was injured on a port excursion, they gave her and her brother a stuffed elephant and a arcade card for my older son. Another girl on the same cruise who was bitten (!) in the kids club was given the same elephant.

Our stateroom host gave my DS one of the 7 Dwarfs too, but it was on his birthday. I thought it was a sweet gesture. :)

DS's is Bashful too. He got it this past May on a 4 night Dream cruise.

I have a friend who worked for dcl in the shops, management. he told me there is a budget set aside so staff could give out items. he said they were encouraged to do so. more so from upper levels but all could.
I think its wonderful and shows dcl does care about staff and guests.

Why not let them in? It's not room service, it's housekeeping. They make up the room for the day, then later make up the room for the night. It's quite lovely, to have the room kept up that way.

I don't really care, but myou mom dislikes people coming in and moving her things around. I kind of agree, I like my bedding a particular way and dislike having to rearrange it again. Or my mom doesn't like the waste of new towels each time, that sort if thing. She's really not a cruise person in that she prefers to do everything for herself. In hotels its the same way.

Personally I don't really mind someone cleaning up after me :)

I was wondering if it might be something like that. I agree, it is wonderful. I feel like they really love children here :)

We also got a stuffed elephant after they darn near killed my kid by sending her the wrong (allergic) meal after we had an allergy alert on the original order ticket.

We had a (very minor) problem with our mattress on the Magic in April that couldn't be resolved. Later that day our stateroom hostess delivered two wrapped Ariel dolls (for our girls) and a bottle of sparkling cider. It was totally unnecessary, but our stateroom hostess wanted us to know that they really do care about our concerns and try to make things right. It's this sort of treatment that keep us coming back to DCL.

We stayed concierge on the Magic earlier this year and our DD got a baby tinkerbell as a gift from our Host. it really made her day and she kept it with her the rest of the cruise.

These are the little touches that Disney does that keeps us coming back on top of the great service we receive on every cruise. I hope they keep it up with the surprises now and again for the children on board.

When we had a issue that couldn't be resolved on the Wonder in February they sent over two talking Perry the platypus's's and a bottle of white wine. We have two sons. It was really nice of DCL.
