Gift for soccer coach?

This is DD5's first year to play soccer. Her coach has been wonderful and she's had a great time. Do kids usually give the coach something at the end of the season? Any inexpensive or creative ideas?

I am a soccer coach and the whole team usually gets together and chips in for a gift certificate.

We usually do the team gift card as well. When DH was an assistant coach, one of the kids made him a card and gave him a whistle. It was very cute!

I've done it both ways. One year we had a real good group of parents and we did a restaurant gift card. The next year I just on my own got a gift card to dunkin donuts. I think coaching is a huge committment and they deserve something for their efforts.

DH coached for many years. His favorite gifts were cards written by the kids, telling him they had fun, learned, etc.

for dh they gave him a gift card for his favorite restaurant. one of the Moms came up and asked me where he likes to eat. They put a pic of the team on the outside of the envelope saying thanks coach! he really appreciated it..

We usually do gift cards, but last year one of the moms took pictures throughout the year of all the kids (especially the coach with his kids that were on the same team) and made a scrapbook with them. It was really nice one, and we all gave the mom $5 to pay for materials and her time.

Don't know if he would have rather have had the gift certificate, but I thought it was neat!!

Last season, we asked the coach's wife where they liked to eat and collected money for a gc. We also bought a soccer ball and had all the kids sign it with a sharpie. He liked the gc, but he LOVED the ball!

Did you guys have assistant coaches on your childs team? We have a few dads who step on the field each game but the primary coach is the one who organizes everything. Would it be appropriate just to give it to the head coach? I am confused.

hi , ive had a few years with coaching(does the name give it away) the best things i have gotten is dd gift cards Coffee forthose early morning games is great and signed balls by the kids . I have to say though the smaller balls work the best for displaying at home . I have gotten tee shirts thay say coach and i love the team pictures where the kids sign the card any the assts usually do rceive something similar also.

We each gave 10 dollars, 5 for the assistant 5 for the head and they bought a gift card to Dicks sporting goods.

We ( the whole team) gave DD's coach and assistant coaches an engraved plaque with a team photo on it, and a GC to Dick's or a restaurant. We also have a really talented Mom who takes photos throughout the season and makes a really cool picture montage DVD with music and title graphics. She makes enough copies for everyone and hands them out at the end of season party. We all watch it together, and the kids have a blast pointing themselves out each time their picture shows up.

As a coaches wife I feel kinda funny about getting a gift certificate. Our past teams have donated money in the name of the team to Coaches for cancer. The money is used for funding for childrens cancer and the coach gets a tshirt.

When my wife coached a few years back, they gave her some flowers and a team picture in one of those nice wooden frames that had some soccer balls on it. I coached this past year, and recieved a restuarant gift certificate, as well as a pass to the movies. It was very thoughtful and generous of the parents to do that. That is not why I coach, but it is nice to know that your efforts are appreciated.
